Seafood Lovers Mezze. A greasy mess. Soggy calamari. Fake scallops.
Bowman W.

I cannot remember the last time I had a dining experience that was so bad. I've been meaning to write a review for a while but wanted a bit of time to gather my thoughts. The restaurant from the outside looks beautiful but don't let it fool you. Inside is a totally different story. My family and I arrived on a hot summer evening. We were seated and right away I noticed how hot it was in the place. That's when I discovered they had no a/c in the place. How a restaurant in this day and age not have any form of a/c is beyond me. They did have ceiling fans where we were seated but of the two, only one was working. Not having a/c aside, we decided to give the place a chance. Big mistake. At least it was byow. We asked the waiter for an ice bucket for our wine. He brought one but it was mostly water with only a few ice cubes floating on top and rapidly melted probably due to the heat in the restaurant. The menus felt tacky and unclean. Even the door to wash room felt tacky probably due to how humid it was. The restaurant felt like it had been neglected. We decided to order the Chicken Trio (Chicken oregano breast combined with 3 butterfly garlic shrimps and one brochette of 3 grilled scallops) and the Seafood Lovers Mezze (Butterfly garlic shrimps, scampies, scallops and fried calamari). The waiter made a remark and had a look of distain that we didn't order any appetizers. It was a little off-putting to say the least. The meals were greasy and a mess. Everything was crowded together on plate. The calamari was soggy and not crispy. The worst offence was that the scallops were fake!!! They use imitation scallops!!! The whole restaurant reeked of neglect. Save your money for another restaurant... or sauna.

All the way in West Island, this Greek restaurant was reserved for a retirement party at 7:30 pm. The restaurant hostess was not the most friendliest person. I felt we were burden. Finally, when we got up, the upstairs was still 3/4 full, and it wasn't ready for our party. Finally, the previous customers left, the staff cleared and cleaned the tables very quick but you can see the residuals. I know we are a huge group of 40-50 people, and it's overwhelming for the staff, but you provide restaurant service, so you don't need to get frustrated. Plus, we were not picky people. Finally, when our guest of honor arrived, we greeted and then sat. Let me tell you, it was super tight among all of us. Plus, the heat in the room was horrible; no ventilation passing through. Since we are such big group, there was a set menu, but it was not on the papers. The waiter had to scream to tell us what's on the menu. Unfortunately, everything on the set menu was meat related, I had to request something vegetarian or pescatarian. They were able to change my platter to butterfly shrimp platter. So we have been told there is salad or soup. I chose salad. People who chose soup, got them in their bowl, but our salads were taking pretty long, but then it comes as side dish on our platters. People with soup also got the salad either way. Very weird!!! My shrimp and rice were good, but the salad were completely soaked in the dressing, which was unbearable to eat. Then we got carrot for dessert, which was disgustingly sweet! I had one bite only. As it was an happy occasion but the restaurant service, ambiance was a major letdown.

FAKE scallops!!! They call this scallops but it really is imitation crab sticks.

I visited Montreal on July 29th, 2016. We had a group of 15 people for dinner that evening at this restaurant. There were 3 of us in the group that ordered the Bacon Wrapped Scallop entrée. When the entrée came out we found out that the bacon wasn't wrapped around scallops at all, it was IMITATION SCALLOPS (think imitation crab, the bright pink stuff)! We called the owner over to tell him about what he had found. He had the audacity to tell us that he just prepares and sells us what his seafood supplier gives him. Look at the pics, it is so obvious that it WAS NOT scallops at all. It was flakey and rolled out in sections just like the imitation crab sticks. It is outrageous and comical that this place can charge people $16.00 for a plate of lies! DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE! Who knows what other meats are fake here. Make me felt like go to third world contry

Big meals!

Ok...I stomp on my words. Service was fantastic this round. The host was wonderful and accommodating and the food was even better. Vegetarian from NYC was please with her fried zucchini and spanikopita. The other 7 were blown away by the portions and how fresh everything was. For the first time I had the scallop bacon brochette and I don't know if I can ever eat scallops another way again So..reviewed my review..tasty and pleasant! !

Bugs are not on the menu

Will not return. Bugs all over table inside and owner kept saying he saw nothing. Pic worth a thousand words. Horrible food and service not so good. Don't eat here. We left our food on plates.

Pretty good here, been a few times. Bring your own wine, some solid food... Nice when you can sit outdoors as well.

Last week we tried Tanoura for the first time and had an amazing experience!!…read more Tanoura is a cute family-owned Egyptian restaurant located in the West Island of Montreal. They usually have a dine-in option but their their dining area is currently closed due to covid. Nonetheless, you can still enjoy their delicious food by taking your food to go! You can also order their food on UberEats and Doordash! Based on the recommendations of the owner, we tried the following dishes: - Fava bean falafels - Mulukhiyah - Egyptian bread - Kushari (rice, lentils, chickpeas, noodles, tomato sauce and fried onions) - Bachamel (ground beef mixture, noodles and bachamel sauce) - Zalabia (puffy fritters soaked in syrup) This was our first time having Egyptian food and we were blown away. Everything was bursting with color and flavor. The falafels were incredible, especially when eaten inside the Egyptian bread and smothered with tahini (a spread made of ground sesame seeds). It was so good we bought ourselves a second serving to bring home!! The bachamel was also extremely delicious. They typically make it in a larger platter, which makes the dish great for catering and feeding big groups! And the zalabia was a perfect way to end the meal! The food alone merits a stellar review but the owners are what makes this place so special. Both of them were so welcoming and kind when we showed up, and took the time to make sure we were happy with the food. Miriam especially was super sweet and you could tell she truly loves what she's doing. Both of them are beautiful people and make Tanoura a beautiful place to eat. Overall, we had an amazing experience at this restaurant. We highly recommend to anyone looking for authentic Egyptian cuisine in the West Island!!

Visiting Cairo! Egyptian food in the west island !  * video Swipe right*…read more They serve traditional egyptian cuisine and even a popular street food called Kushari.  It is basically a simple dish made with lentils, rice, pasta in a flavorful tomato sauce , topped with fried onions.   I enjoyed karkade juice. It is hibiscus juice prepared in its very egyptian way. The flowers are imported directly from Sudan and have all kinds of health benefits. The fava bean falafel was crispy  and served with tahini and the soup . I got the chance to taste molokhia soup, a green soup made from minced jews/jute mallow leaves and cooked in broth. The quality of the broth was there, simmered for hours. Had wedding dessert Om Ali made with phyllo dough, milk and nuts. There is no wedding without this desert. It is my first time having Egyptian cuisine. I usually have the known Lebanese cuisine. I was very happy about my experience. I think this is the closest traditional food I can get unless I get invited to a friend's house. Tanoura is owned by a lovely couple,  they ve been around for over 7 years. I saw pick ups from  elders egyptians. It is a good indicator. This restaurant have closed their dining section and so you will have to do pick ups. A good recommendation if you would like to try Mediterranean food/drinks/desserts from Egypt and you are in West Island or nearby.  *Ubereats, Doordash, Skip the dishes. . .
