We drove 2 hours for our anniversary for a New Orleans meal…read more The Blackberry Highball is very sour and not so fruity. We started with the Boudin Balls and Hush Puppies - both very good. My husband had the Red Beans and Rice and really enjoyed it. Lots of meat in it. I was hoping for Crafish Étouffée but it isn't on the menu any longer. So I ordered the Shrimp Étouffée. Very disappointed. Only 5 small chunks of shrimp. It also has a sort of poblano verde sauce or maybe a poblano Maque Choux without the corn. Lots of celery. And the small amount of rice. I didn't eat much of it, after the shrimp was gone it was just bad sauce. A wasted $21. The cornbread was nice with honey butter. We split the bread pudding for dinner and it is excellent - DON'T MISS IT! Service was excellent. Especially the bus boy / water refiller. P.S. They don't do anything for anniversaries. Not sure if we will drive over 2 hours each way for Étouffée that was mediocre. The Crawfish Étouffée was excellent last time.

We made a reservation for a Saturday night and it was busy, but you could probably walk in and be seated if it's a small party. The dinner rolls to start off the meal were amazing. We also really enjoyed the jambalaya, crab cakes, and the grilled salad. The only savory thing we wouldn't get again was the carne asada-- it was fine but not as special as the other dishes. The dessert was also a bit of a disappointment unfortunately, we tried the bread pudding but it came out lukewarm at best. The cast iron it was served in was cold, which was surprising, why not just heat it in that? The drinks were alright. Our service that particular night was pretty bad too-- our waitress was quick to take our order and the food came out pretty quick, but it took a long time for her to come back, and then another 10 minutes to get us a dessert menu. She was running all over the place so I think was busy, but I could tell she forgot about us and I wished she had atleast acknowledged it and apologized. Hopefully just a one-off. We will be back next time we want to have a date night in St Joe, and want to check out their bakery next door after trying those delicious dinner rolls.

By far my favorite coffee shop in Central Minnesota! One of…read morethe most important features of a coffee shop is the atmosphere, and The Local Blend does not disappoint! Mixing a tasteful blend of tradition and contemporary with wooden tables and chairs with brightly painted walls and their distinct "cosmic" mugs, enjoying a talk with a friend or focusing to study for that next exam has never been more enjoyable! Their coffee and tea selections are varied with local, organic blends that never fail to impress me! I specifically recommend their cold brew, whatever roast is available, with a touch of milk on a hot summer day! Finally, their pastries and food selections are always changing, with a steadfast dedication to incorporating local bakeries and baking scones, cakes, and other treats in-house. The almond croissants from Backwards Bread Baking Co. are to die for! You will not be disappointed with this quintessential Central Minnesotan local, organic coffee shop!

Today the Cafe au lait was delicious however our Almond Croissant had to be days old as needed to be carved up to eat. I would recommend sticking with their in house scones or muffins. The croissant is from an outside bakery and I have had direct from them.. when purchased direct these are delicious.

Never tried food from Hawaii? Definitely check this place out…read more Love to see more Hawaiian food in Minnesota!! They have a small menu with just a few items to choose from. BBQ chicken, Teri Beef, or get them both in a mixed plate. You can even get fried rice. Plus, make sure to try the poke because the flavor is on point. You can essentially try the whole menu if you order the mixed plate with fried rice and a poke bowl! Located in a food hall, so pay with a card at the front or order from your phone at a table. They have a bunch of beers, ciders, and wine on tap and a bunch of other food to try. Just some small things that I wish were different about the food (my credentials: born and raised in Hawaii, moved to Minnesota just a couple years ago): I felt like the mixed plate should have two scoops of rice. For $22, there's a lot of protein, except the Teri beef was the tiniest piece in my opinion. So I feel like two scoops would have better fit the portion and the price. Plus, if you go to any place in Hawaii and get a large plate, it definitely comes with two scoops of rice!! The poke was good, but mangoes, carrots, and the other added toppings make it feel like mainland style poke rather than Hawaii style. Plus, for $17, I wish there was more rice (you get a single scoop) and not a bed of cabbage at the bottom to fill the bowl. I didn't get it, but $4 for a spam musubi. In the end, it was still great food. And there are very little places with Hawaiian food in Minnesota. I'd still recommend it to anyone in town.

We stop in today and tried his Spam Musubi as well as the pineapple bbq chicken plate and teriyaki beef plate. The flavors are amazing and his Hawaiian background cooking definitely comes through. As a food competitor myself I know food and highly recommended take time and stop here the staff and food are amazing.
