I've tried tacos all over the U.S. -- in Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Texas, and Florida -- and I can confidently say this food truck serves some of the most flavorful carne asada tacos I've had. They come with pickled carrots and two different salsas, and everything is absolutely delicious. The ceviche is also outstanding. I'm not a burrito lover but I wanted to review something new on my second trip to La Piñata food truck so I picked a Latin American staple. I ordered mine with steak and minus the green onions. It wouldn't be an understatement to say this was the best burrito I have ever eaten. I have eaten a few in my life, mostly fast food. This one taught me that burritos can be good, better than I have been settling for. The wrap was pleasantly browned and not gummy. The steak had flavor and a good texture as burrito filling. The rice added its flavor and texture to the burrito keeping it from the mushiness I have grown used to. Please note I am not a rice lover but found it worked in this offering. The other ingredients cooked onions, sour cream and cilantro added to the mix making it a pleasant lunch. (Truthfully, next time I will skip the cilantro... I am one who thinks it tastes like soap) the cilantro did no detract from the overall enjoyment. The service was fast and the knowledge that Oklahoma City can boast such a fine food truck made me satisfied with our culinary standing. Good Job La piñata. read more

We decided on this particular taco truck on a whim because every time we drove by, there were always quite a few people. It didn't matter what time, lunch, dinner, way after dinner, there were people. There are actually at least 3 taco trucks that are closer to the house, but we passed all of them to come to La Piñata. DOES NOT DISAPPOINT. I haven't had taco truck in forever. And we were impressed with how much flavor we got, but it is CHEAP for the amount of food. He got a huge burrito, and I got a torta. Nachos are LEGIT. I don't know what verde sauce they use, but it's so good! I usually can't finish mine, but he devours his. Sometimes he wants more. My rating is based on other taco trucks....after my sister brought me a torta from another place. It just wasn't the same. I was pretty disappointed! So, we have gone back on multiple occasions. Tried the street tacos as well. Everything is good! Bring cash, though! And they have a phone to call in your order! What makes me the happiest is we are supporting local. They stay open so late on the weekends, but if you're hungry, this is the place to go. We drive a few extra miles just for them. Worth it. read more

I'm pleasantly surprised with the food here! I've only tried a side of rice and the steak tacos because the tacos are so good, every time I go, I have to have them. The steak is chopped into small tiny pieces topped with fresh cilantro, chopped onions (I order it without onions though), a couple slices of spicy pickled carrots and radishes and a lime. The steak has a lot of flavor and a really nice texture. It isn't tough of stringy. Next time I go I'm going to see if I can order a lot of extra carrots and radishes. I haven't had any that delicious since my granny pickled them when I was a little girl. There were some other people eating burritos and tortas and they looked just as good as the tacos so I may have to give up my tacos one time to try something new. They don't take debit or credit cards so be sure to bring cash. They're open until 11pm through the week and on Friday and Saturday nights, they're open until 3am. read more

Okay so I have been on a mission to find the best street tacos in OKC. I am from California and miss my tacos!!!! If you are from the Inland Empire you know the tacos in Pomona ,Ca from Tacos Mexico.....they used to be .50 cents and oh my goodness so good. And now lady's and gentleman I have found that same flavor in Okie Town YES!!! These are the most flavorful and well made authentic tacos!!! I missed out one day because I didn't have cash so I went to another taco joint down the street that were okay......man I should have just went to the atm!! So bring cash and order the taco plate! Comes with all the condiments like onions, cilantro, limes and my favorite pickled carrots and jalapenos....this tastes homemade to me as well! I had the carne asada tacos and the seasoning was perfect! Lots of flavor without being spicy...you can add that yourself. Btw very reasonably priced!! For those who haven't ventured down SE 29th Street, east of May Avenue, you're missing out on some of the best authentic Mexican food that OKC has to offer in the many food trucks along this route. But away from this area is La Piñata food truck. They can be found on the NE corner of Reno and MacArthur. La Piñata has a simple menu of 10-12 items with traditional photos to order from and soft drinks that include Coke with real sugar. Yes, there is a difference. I had the street tacos with beef and cilantro, minus the onions. Customers can pick from beef, chicken, or pork on their orders. I had the first with no sauce and found the flavors of the lightly seasoned beef, cilantro, and homemade tortilla to be outstanding without being to spicy. I added the red sauce to the remaining tacos to kick it up a notch and they were equally terrific. The relish carrots on the side were flavored well and still crisp and not mushy as I have experienced. La Piñata post their health dept. certificates in the window for any customers weary of food trucks. This is a cash only food truck so come prepared, but do come. read more

I went to this place on a Friday night. There were just a couple customers so I thought I would stop by and get some tacos. I ordered 6 tacos-2 asada, 2 lengua, and 2 tripas tacos with total coming out to $8.50. Well I got home and I only had 5 tacos on my plate- all ASADA! So I was overcharged by one taco and I didn't get my lengua or tripas tacos. And they have tip buckets?? I ate the tacos anyway because I wasn't going to drive all the way back. Remember, it wasn't very busy and they still screwed up my order. The tacos were just ok and they were small. They also only take cash. I give it it two stars for overall service. read more
