Simple, cheap and absolutely delicious. We were in Ostia Antica to visit the ruins (rather than…read moredriving to Pompeii) and decided to come here for lunch. The deli is fantastic, forget what you see on the so called "Italian Deli's" in the USA. Those are all fake. Yes, they can be run by "Italians" but there is nothing like a real Italian deli in Italy.
We had so many choices to eat that we couldn't choose, so my daughter just wanted a simple plain pasta with tomato sauce and they made it for us. It was very simple, but absolutely delicious. Most likely the best pasta with tomato sauce we have ever had.
I had the prosciutto panino and my wife had a salami with cheese sandwich. It was so good that we returned again just to buy some goods to take home.
Nobody here speaks English, but my terrible Italian did the trick and they were very helpful trying to explain to us everything in the store.
Take a seat outside for a beautiful scenic environment and to watch how this small town works during the day. Once you are done, go next door to the coffee shop to get some amazing gelato!
