La Paz Liquor is supposed to be a lucky retailer for lottery, as you walk in, you can see that they are very serious about Lotto. There are tons of automatic machines as well as scratchers, old winners, tables to fill out cards, screens to watch drawings, etc. Beyond the Lotto obviously, this is a Standard Liquor store that has all kinds of drinks, adult beverages, as well as sodas, waters and other snacks if you are so inclined. If you are a lotto player, it may not hurt to try this liquor store out and see if it turns your luck. If not, maybe next time. Enjoy! read more

Be careful with your lottery tickets my dad took in a scratcher in which he won $100 and 2 others to get checked and the Hispanic female clerk told him he hadn't won anything. She then gave him back the other 2 and kept the one with the $100 and when he went back to ask for it to have it checked somewhere else she claimed she had tossed it in the trash. Very shady be careful. read more

Adult candy store specializing in lottery tickets and assortments of different types of adult beverages. If your an adult and like to play with scratchers then this will be a fantastic find for you. Parking sucks. Service hours are not ideal because they close at 7:00pm and service is not the friendliest. Buuuut... those tickets. Supposedly they are home to many winning tickets. But my eyes almost exploded when I saw all the stand alone machines to purchase scratchers and weekly lotto/power ball/super lotto tickets. Behind the counter even more tickets. Every type of ticket you could hope for. Wowzers. Drinks come in all sizes. All types and all flavors. I just wish I had more time to explore but the guy was closing. read more

Horrible and embarrassing experience today at this location. My wife, 2 children and myself walked in around 3pm and were absolutely parched and needed some Gatorade, Approximately 1 minute into looking for our drinks, an Asian lady behind the counter, steps out from cashiering to approach us and tell us to "Close the cooler doors" I responded "We're still shopping" she muttered close the door, so I decided to leave and on the way out I stopped and informed her "You're very rude! My family and I were still choosing drinks! This is horrible customer service! She muttered back and we left. This lady has no tact in dealing with customers, it's disgusting to see store cashiers think they can speak to customers that way. Will never go back, hope management sees this and chastises her for her poor behavior . I also believe we were profiled because of our ethnicity. read more

The cashier there was some skinny asian lady and she was so rude. I purchased some snacks and drinks. Then asked to purchase a super lotto ticket, she just said "huh?" Then just stared at me lol so I repeated may I get 6 dollars worth of super lotto, she replies it's $1 a line and I said yes 6 dollars please. Smh...never again am I going here. I get that this place is famous. The owners are probably rich off lottery winnings but courtesy is worth more than any dollar amount. Went in Tuesday night around 6pm and had the nerve to ask a question abt lottery tickets. Believe it or not, I've never bought lottery tickets. It was not busy. Only one person behind me. Rather than help me by answering a single question, man behind counter rushed me out. Saying "Are you going to buy? Or leave!!" WOW! Whatever happened to customer service? I can get tickets many other places, and will! Plus, there were a couple guys back behind the store sitting on a chairs, just hanging out smoking. I went in to buy lottery tickets and to exchange some of my winning tickets, first Christine said you should have given me all the tickets to claim and I responded it was not mine so I'd rather do 2 transactions. So when it was time for my tickets to claim she said I had to wait since she had a line. When all of them were done she told me there's no money in the cashier. She hasn't even checked my tickets as to how much. She already said no money! She should have told me that to begin with so I didn't have to wait after 5 transactions!!!! Owner is so rude! Went in for lotto tickets and I was totally ignored! I was very polite and tried to be friendly with her and she continued to ignore me. I had a winning lotto (not much but a winner) and she threw my money at me. I'm always a little intimidated walking up to cashiers at liquor stores. Or even entering liquor stores at all. Usually they're manned by the gruffer, frownier "buy yer shit 'n git the hell out" types. But not here. The good vibes almost take you aback a bit. They're friendly in a small town shop kind of way. Welcoming without fake sappiness. Efficient without being curt. Wait...am I sure I'm in a liquor store? Yup it's all around me, holy tequila! And is that Cali Creamin I see? Only my favorite obscure beer ever? Oh yes it is, sir. I do wish they had price markings up for everything, as there was an entire section of liquor where you just kinda have to hope for the best and buy it. But not a huge deal. I want to start by saying that I never complain about anything, ever. If you want to hear some crazy sh*t, keep reading. I walked to La Paz to buy a bottle of champagne and oj on a Sunday with my son. The oj looked a little dark when I bought it, but I am colorblind and thought nothing of it. Paid with cash and continued our walk around the neighborhood. When I got home, my wife opened the OJ- it was brownish and smelled rotten. I told her it was probably the plastic container causing the coloration to be different. We poured it into a glass, and both gagged. It gets better. Then, when we opened the foil on the champagne bottle, there was mold growing on it, particularly between the cork and the glass stem. Nothing like a little mold in your glass as you pour it. Ugh. I returned to the store with both items and showed them to the woman working there. Being that I live so close and we pass it on walks, I come here probably once a week with my son to buy ice cream, a drink, or even lotto tickets sometimes too. She knows me. I showed her the OJ that I purchased less than an hour prior, and she denied that it was putrid because the date of expiration was in October, a month away. I asked her to smell or taste it, and she refused. Then, she began to argue with me. All I wanted was to exchange it for a bottle of juice that wasn't rotten. After several minutes of back-and-forth discussion, she motioned for me to get another bottle, and I opened it in front of her. It was also rotten! I honestly don't think it was their fault, but regardless, the juice was rancid. She got mad at me for opening it in the store and asked me why I did that. I said that I didn't want to go home and find out later...? She was very mad, tightened the lid AND PUT IT BACK ON THE SHELF IN THE FRIDGE! She explained that the whole shipment was like that, and I was the only one with an issue. I explained to her that it isn't her fault but that the product was unhealthy and shouldn't be sold. I even suggested she should talk to the distributor about it. There was a bit of a language barrier, but she reluctantly gave me the $4 back that I paid for it. Then came the issue with the moldy champagne. Oh boy. She repeated over and over, no exchange for cigarettes or alcohol. I understood the policy as people can easily take advantage of returns and such. Again, I assured her that it wasn't her fault for causing the mold, just that it existed and I wanted a different bottle. She wiped off the mold and said, "No mold!" This is where I got frustrated because she would not exchange the bottle. I stood quietly and patiently in the store, waiting for her to check out the other customers who agreed with me and looked on with confusion as to why this was all happening. It was a bottle of Barefoot, 10$. Just switch it out! Again, "no exchanges on alcohol or cigarettes" was my only answer. She expected me to take the answer and leave because of her rude approach; however, I just wasn't having it. I stood patiently and asked if the store's owner was available by contact. She said, "No owner." HAHA. Nobody owns this place? Interesting. I waited patiently for her to change her mind as she made several phone calls. Eventually, she walked me to the fridge and, like a recalcitrant child, told me to choose another bottle. I grabbed another bottle and left feeling disheartened. The whole thing was really disappointing, especially considering I come to this place frequently, and when I made the initial purchase today, she asked me about my son. It is so strange, but the folks in line encouraged me to write a review, and here it is. Be careful of your purchases here. Good luck! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I NEVER complain but this is on the principal of how things took place. I was in this liquor store yesterday 8/24/23 to buy 5 separate CA Powerball tickets. I also bought some scratchers and an ice tea. The VERY RUDE Asian lady at the register charged me for everything and I paid. I walked away from the register then looking through my change, I noticed that she hadn't given me the Powerball tickets, only gave me the large scratcher tickets. I asked her where my Powerball tickets were and she said in broken English "I don't know, I don't touch the tickets. I charge you 5 times, you pay but I don't touch tickets". I said I've never bought lottery tickets where the person selling them doesn't hand you the tickets and would have no way of knowing that I would need to pick them up off the machine that is by the register. I don't make it a point to reach over by any register in a store, especially not a liquor store. She said someone else must have taken the tickets and that she didn't touch them. I asked her to either refund me my money since the mistake was hers or print out 5 more tickets. She said no. We went back and forth for a long time. I asked her do you agree that you charged me for the tickets. She said yes but I don't touch tickets. I said are you going to give me my money back, she rudely said no. Then asked are you going to give me tickets, she again rudely said no. I asked her (she is the owner BTW) to play back the HUGE surveillance video cameras they have recording the register/counter so we can see what happened and she refused. I said I'm going to end up having to report you the state lottery commission. She said OK go ahead. She did not care whatsoever that she took my money and didn't provide me with tickets. DO NOT BUY LOTTERY TICKETS HERE or if you do because of them being a "lucky retailer", make sure you have been given everything you've paid for. They do not tell you that you need to grab your tickets off the machine and they don't care whatsoever about customer service. They shouldn't be allowed to sell lotto tickets if they're going to be that complacent about the sale of them. What an absolutely horrible experience. read more

I cant believe I am writing a review for a liquor store. But its LA PAZ, my office is 10 meters away.. I must say something nice because the owners are the best people EVER. They are open 7 days a week and often times I wonder who's the bigger work-a-holic, me or them? Regardless, its a nice place and they always have snacks for me. At La Paz they understand the importance of customer loyalty. The owners, a husband and wife team, are super nice, the wife especially. She will often give me a lotto ticket on the house (10 million dollar winner sold here) or a complimentary bag of M&Ms. (Got to keep those stocked in the house so as Missus Paradise's stash doesn't get low) They have a good selection of wines, beers and whatever liquor your little boozy heart desires, but like I said, the owners are what make this place special. La Paz Liquor is much like the many other area liquor stores. It has fairly priced merchandise. The older Korean gentleman who is always behind the counter is not the friendliest but that is totally fine, considering I usually am in a hurry and can not chat anyway. Parking lot in the back, that I never use, is large and easy enough to navigate without problem. I walk here from the house all the time, which is part of the reason I come in here. Oh that and the pure fact that they have some of the greatest selection of gift packs. Whenever I receive an invite to a bash I stop in here for a little gift before hand. Wow! I was not warned about how rude both man and woman really are here. I see they have a lot of big winners. Look above the alcohol behind the cash counter the owner proudly displays all of the lotto winners. I wonder if those winners could possibly enjoy a nickel of any of that money after the kcrappy service from these guys. I have been here twice and the first time the old man was rude. He got upset if I asked 1 simple question. Then he told me they were closed and it was only 8:30pm. So then I immediately left unhappy. The second time there was an old woman there and she looked at me as if I did something really bad. I asked her a question and she began to yell at me. I had to asks her twice for a quick pick. I hope that I didn't pick a winning ticket there. She ruined my day. Very unhappy with that. Certainly won't be returning there ever again. There are other lucky liquors very near by.
