    Veggie burrito
    Ron D.

My wife and I have always enjoyed their chicken nachos and today we also shared a veggie burrito which was the best ever. It was filled with potatoes, broccoli, red & green peppers, onions, lettuce, rice and beans. It was covered with crema, avocado and salsa.

Quick counter service to get your food ordered and prompt delivery to your table. You'll soon be enjoying the authentic delicacies at La Parilla Kitchen. Maybe you want to be basic and get a burrito (definitely the smothered one if you have to) but don't skip out on some of the traditional dishes not served elsewhere. From rotating soups and unique cuts of meat, everything about La Parilla kitchen is meant to evoke the cozy feeling of being at home and eating some comfort foods. I'm not even Mexican and I felt like I was part of the family. The cooks were happy to accommodate our requests to make our food vegetarian and they didn't bat an eye when we spilled some water on the floor. They are very generous and gracious hosts! I love that we could order breakfast any time of the day if we wanted to. As is, we ordered the taco trio: fish, shrimp, vegan chorizo. Super tasty, filled with flavor and marinade. I feel bad for the chumps eating $4 tacos in Portland at so called elevated taco shops that lack flavor and soul. La Parilla is my go to Mexican shop from now on.

Small side of chips and salsa, and a Paloma cocktail while I wait on my Togo order.

This place is so amazing! My husband and I come here often and get a burrito to split because they are huge! When I order to go, I usually indulge in a cocktail, which never disappoints. I was offered chips and salsa while I waited on my Togo order and drank my fabulous Paloma. Amazing service, amazing food. Just writing this review because they deserve the recognition. It's one of our go to places when we don't feel like cooking and they deserve every... freaking... star!

It was so good. I was so grateful I wanted to cry. Real tortilla chips, delicious menudo, homemade tortillas like my gramma used to make in Mexico. I was literally in heaven. It's like having a little slice of Mexico right here in the States. The music was so good too.

TL/DNR: great burritos, sketchy service. On a busy Saturday minion and I thought we'd try this breakfast burrito outpost because it is closer to where we were running errands than our usual outpost. It looks like they closed their Portland store and opened up this second Beaverton branch. We called in our order from the Uwajimaya parking lot. The woman was probably monolingual Spanish speaking. She spoke Spanish to me in response to my English and asked me to repeat myself a few times - " two bacon breakfast burritos"- and she said " ten minutes." She did repeat back " two burritos with bacon." It probably took us longer to get there because Western Ave is closed to construction and we had to go way way WAY around. By the time we did that we couldha gone to our usual place. Sigh. Parking is a little tight as they share a small lot with Pizza Hut and a convenience store. I think their store used to be a Taco del Mar and then maybe a Thai restaurant after that. The decor was cute and colorful. Minion went inside to pick up ( it was FREEZING out so I kept the heater running) and was gone a long time. More than ten minutes. When he came back he was grumpy and said "never again". Turns out they only had one breakfast burrito waiting for us and he had to wait while they made us a second. The place was empty with no other customers. He felt they had no excuse and they did not apologize or try to make it up in any way. When she rang him up it was $39.99. Um. That was for FOUR breakfast burritos. She fixed it and rang him up again for two. He is worried he will be charged for six and will keep an eye out for his credit card statement because she struggled with the register. She was by then abrupt and seemed annoyed with Minion. Minion said the man in the kitchen was very very friendly and said thank you multiple times. " He knew it was not going well." Minion was frustrated further when he asked for red and green salsas and she gave us four green and one red. That seems minor to me. I can share. Plus I like the green here. The burritos were boiling/steaming hot and delicious with yummy potatoes, eggs, cheese, cilantro, crema, and bacon. There were napkins in the bag. We have been very stupid happy with the other Beaverton location and will keep going to that one. This was worth a try, the burritos were still really good, but the woman at the counter needs a little training. Ok maybe a lot.

We have been wanting to visit La Parrilla for some time, and it was excellent, except for a couple of hiccups. We arrived at 4:45, and there was one other person in the restaurant. At 5:15, there were over 20 people sitting at the tables. Service was definitely affected. If I just rated the food, it was a 6 star experience. We ordered at the counter as instructed, and we ordered two margaritas, and a chips and salsa to start with. My daughter ordered the Enchiladas Suiza and I ordered the Carne Asada. The chips for the chips and salsa came out fairly quick, and they are incredible. They are fried flour tortillas versus the normal corn. The salsa was good, but it had a bite. I am not sure why the margaritas took so long, as it was at least 10 minutes until they were brought to our table. But were they ever good. Fresh oranges and limes were the garnish. My daughters enchiladas were perfect and my Carne Asada was terrific. The black beans were the best we have ever had. The accompanying rice was just okay. Not much flavor. My daughter went to the counter to ask for water, and was told it would be brought out...it never arrived. They were just too busy for the staff that was on to handle all of the guests. Then this morning, looking at my receipt, I realized I was charged for the Carne Asada con Camaron, which is more expensive than what I ordered. I would go back, but I would order differently and definitely check my bill when I am done paying.

Tonight we were heading to an Italian restaurant for dinner and noticed a sign at a newer Mex place in Beaverton. We decided on a whim to give them a shot. The location is right across the street from the Burgerville, they have a large menu. the staff is very friendly. You can get a range of alcoholic drinks and sodas. The Margaritas looked good as well. We ordered a Carne Asada burrito, chips, guacamole and Carne Asada with Shrimp. They brought out the Chips and guacamole first, wow the chips were freshly made and so was the guacamole. Well worth the price. The Carne Asada with Shrimp was just like my moms, good quality of meat and shrimp, perfectly seasoned with out a lot of spice, grilled onions, rice and beans. You get a choice of home made tortillas or flour. Of course get the home made tortillas they were tasty. Very solid entree. The Carne Asada burrito is huge, stuffed with beans, rice and lots of yummy Carne Asada, my wife order it wet with green salsa. Wow it looked awesome. She said it was really good. The salsas were all home made, the salsa that they served with the chips was very mild with a lot of flavor, they also served a spicy red salsa and a non spicy green sauce. We really enjoyed our food, glad that we changed our mind and stopped by. I will also add that the food is not inexpensive but the flavor of the food and the quantity make up for the price. We will be coming back again.

The food is great but the parking lot can be busy as there is plaid pantry and pizza but in the small shopping mall and not enough parking spaces. Got the chicken burrito, fish taco plate, and guacamole y chipotle burrito to go. Not much guacamole in the guacamole y chipotle burrito but still good.

Ok this burrito has to have been one of the best I've ever had. I've been saying that a lot lately about these Oregon restaurants. So good!!! Gotta check this place out. Seriously amazing. Quick too.

Taco salad with carne asada. Super flavorful and the tortilla bowl was scrumptious!

Overall I'd give it 3.5 stars. The woman working there was so sweet and attentive! There were just a few misses with our meals. For example, she asked what kind of beans I wanted on my taco salad and I asked for pinto. But in the end, there were no beans at all! They also left off the sour cream - bummer. My carne asada seemed overcooked and over salted, but my husband had the carne asada tacos, and he said he liked it that way! So to each their own, I suppose! On the plus side, I asked for no cotija and they left it off, as requested. We also asked for chips and said no guacamole at least twice, but they still sent (and of course charged us for) the guac. Not a huge deal, as I love it, but I just wasn't in the mood. And opposite the carne asada, the guac definitely needed some salt. I don't live near this location, but if I was in the neighborhood again, I'd definitely give it another try!

The service is very fast! The food is pretty good, it's definitely increased in price lately so I would put it as $$. Each of these plates are 15 dollars each. Chicken in the flautas was a little dry.

There are quite a few Mexican themed restaurants and food trucks within a mile or two. There is a large Mexican population living here and Mexican workers are all over the place. So to stand out a business would need to really separate themselves from the herd. That is, they need to stand out in a positive way. This place is a massive fail in that regard. I happen to enjoy Mexican cuisine a lot. I always appreciate being surprised by an amazing, tasty, reasonably priced, filling Mexican restaurant. There are several nearby neighborhood Mexican places that provide that experience consistently. This is not one of them. You will find unremarkable food here. Indifferent wait stall. A boringly average menu. Smaller portions at premium prices. Nothing to see here folks. This restaurant has had coupons in the local shoppers every week for decades. So when I decided to check this place out I showed up with one of those coupons. If I recall it was a coupon that took a dollar or two off the meal price if you spent more than a certain amount and ordered a specific set of items. So at checkout time they declined to accept the coupon because I ordered a medium drink and not a large. Huh? Rare for a business to use coupons to completely alienate new customers! Do I care about the two bucks that they chiseled out of me? No I do not. Would I ever patronize a business that is this out of touch with what good customer service is? No. Never been back. Never will. What the heck, Mazatlan has an unlimited supply of new customer prospects coming by so they don't need me, right? What a shabby outfit. YMMV.
