Decided to go Mexican. It's a tiny bit sketchy looking on the outside being in a strip mall front, but Don Alejo has so much character. The inside is beautiful with an intricate floor plan and DIY wood features. Table lights were so pretty with that opaque stained glass look. Tables and booths were clean and had nice style. Staff was fast and nice. I don't care if they make the greatest quesadilla of all time, if their chips and salsa aren't good, it's not a good spot. This place nailed both. They use the thicker, denser chips that I love and the salsa was perfect consistency and had a great flavor. Not too spicy, not too bland. Just right to throw back 50 chips before the food gets out. Prices were insanely cheap. 3.50 for a chicken quesadilla. Tell me the last time you got multiple entrees at a sit down spot and got out for less than 7 dollars! Quesadillas were on the smaller size but I'd gladly pay 3.50 for them. Really good amount of cheese and chicken on them and it tasted great. Good on these guys man. They knocked it out of the park at 1:30 on a Friday afternoon. If I so happen to take another detour to Hartselle, I will be giving them more business

It wasn't crowded so that wasn't an issue. We waved down the bartender and he took our orders and delivered our food when it was ready. Clean restaurant but the music was a bit too loud. We were seated really fast and the waitstaff was extremely friendly and efficient! This restaurant has a nice, bright, colorful and inviting atmosphere! It's a fairly big restaurant with many tables and booths. Their menu is very detailed with a variety of food options to satisfy most tastes. They also a good drink menu. Prices are reasonable. Complimentary nacho chips and salsa were provided while we were deciding what to eat. The Chimichanga lunch meal I ordered was very good. I ordered it with steak. Refried beans and rice were included with a side of guacamole, sour cream and lettuce! The food was excellent. Ingredients were fresh, food was hot and tasty, and the waitstaff ensured drinks were refilled in a timely manner. I highly recommend! There were quite a few people already there for lunch when we arrived, and I imagine this restaurant can get full. However, they can accommodate several people and perhaps even a small party. I highly recommend! Great food, friendly servers, and festive atmosphere!

My wife had the steak bowl, and she really enjoyed it as well. The steak wasn't overcooked and had great flavor. So why the 3 stars? The food was great, but the service left a lot to be desired. I don't know if the cashier was just having a bad day, but she definitely didn't seem happy to be there. She took our orders and cleaned the dining room, so she was doing her job, but the way she greeted us and her overall body language almost made me turn around and leave. For my wife's sake, I decided to give it a chance, and I'm glad I did because the food was worth it. That said, I might be alone in this way of thinking, but if I'm spending my money at an establishment and the employees don't seem to care that I'm there, it makes me question whether I want to come back. Good food is important, but so is making customers feel welcome. You can have great food, but if the service makes people feel like they're an inconvenience, that's going to cost you repeat business. The good news is that the food was flavorful, the portions were good, and the prices were pretty reasonable. If you're looking for good food and don't mind service that isn't the best, I'd definitely give this place a try. I just wish the service had matched the quality of the food.
