Top: rice and bean tacos Middle: Frijol y queso pupusas Bottom: steak tacos with all the toppings
Joy K.

Service was great, everyone was super friendly! We got rice&veg tacos, steak tacos, bean & cheese pupusas, and pork & cheese pupusas. Decent tacos, delicious pupusas. Pupusas were big, crispy, and the dough to filling ratio was amazing. we also got their horchata and pineapple juice. Horchata was a bit grainy but we didn't mind it was still good and the pineapple juice was nice, sweet, and refreshing. Side note: they have a salsa cart/station with an array of different salsas and sauce, and all of the salsas are delicious!

Steak Burrito Supreme

This place is one of Harrisonburg's hidden gems! I've been coming here for years and am so happy to see how much they have grown. The food is absolutely amazing - the chips, salsa, guacamole, and cheese dip are always amazing and fresh. They have a salsa bar with so many varieties that everyone will leave with something they love! The burritos are stuffed full of tender meat, beans, and rice and if you get the cheese on top you're in for a real treat! I've probably eaten everything off the menu and I've never been disappointed. Its all delicious and very reasonably priced!

2 sopes and 1 gordita

Awesome place. Love their salsas. The meats are seasoned and cooked well. The sopes are dressed generously with cheese and meat. The masa is a little dry, but that isn't unusual. I also had the tres leches cake and I was not a big fan of it. I would just get another gordita/sope/taco.

I got the steak and chicken tacos. My boyfriend got the al pastor and steak tacos.

My favorite taco place in Harrisonburg, and my favorite place to eat overall! My first visit made a lasting impression. The owner could tell that my friend and I were new to this place. After we ordered, he gave us these small cups and directed us to the salsa bar. He explained what each of them were and their spice level. He was even nice enough to let me try their aguas frescas with no additional charge. Not sure what I got but it was good. The tacos are reasonably priced, but most importantly they are delicious! What's nice is that they don't skimp out on the meat. My personal favorite is the steak tacos. But I'll get the chicken too! Definitely check out the salsa bar and add them to yours. I recently came back and was surprised to see their updated interior! They've added more seats, which is nice to see. They also have descriptions at the salsa bar now! Which is nice because I could never remember which were which. I'm glad to see that this business is thriving!

Torta split in half, also with multiple bites taken out of each end! Great to split!

This is my 2nd favorite place in town to get a torta. It's really big so today my boyfriend and I got one to split - he also got a taco and I got a pupusa. I knew their tortas were good, I was really happy with my pupusa as well. Staff was great. There are tables inside and out if you want to eat there.

Excellent customer service. Check! súper duper good pupusas. Check! (I've had pupusas in El Salvador, so I know what I'm talking about, these are good. too bad they don't have pupusas de loroco though. The salsa bar is small, but it's fresh and tasty. Hooray for la Morena!

Overpriced for subpar food. Read prior reviews hoping for authentic Mexican food that tasted like home, but tasted more like Tex-Mex.

But the best thing about Midtowne is the amazing selection for EVERYTHING. This is the place for a beer snob....they even sell Delerium! Not to mention the amazing support they show for the local market--they sell muffins, cookies and other baked goods made by local people, and always have a few CDs from local bands (which Harrisonburg has no lack of!). Also, there's usually a bulletin board up displaying events happening in the area like live music, farmers markets, yard sales and things of this nature. The service is usually great--my favorite employee is Chris--the most friendly and helpful guy in Harrisonburg. Support Downtown Harrisonburg--shop at Midtowne!

More importantly, and the reason I am writing this review, is that Midtowne Market stocks an ever changing selection of unusual/hard to find beers. They stock Rouge Ales, Bell's Beer (a good brewery from Michigan), and many other brands that you will be hard pressed to find without a trip to Northern Virginia. Finally, note that their selection is ever changing, so on a positive note there will usually be something new to try, but on a negative note, you might find your new favorite beer only to have it disappear the next time you visit. It's not perfect, but it's a refreshing change from the usual beers sold at supermarkets elsewhere.

Not being from the area I leaned into knowing Sheetz were in the area. Getting here was a trip. The street grid around this location had me double guessing whether I was going to the right area. Once I did get myself to the lot I parked and ran inside. Ran to the facilities and found some sweet relief. Once finished in there I came out into the store area and then decided I should grab something eat. I tapped on the screen and got myself a quick breakfast. Paid and just waited for my food to be prepared. Not being in a rush I opted to eat in house which is rare for me in a Sheetz. I moved into the dining area and was the only one in there for the duration of my meal. I'm impressed with the setup in here as they took the customer experience into account. Each seating area had access to an outlet that included USB charging ports. Napkin dispensers within reach of everyone. Television on a channel to give some background noise for the dining area. The food was exactly what I needed for a breakfast. The fried things were a bit too greasy, but I knew that was going to happen. The breakfast sandwich was a usual go to for me at a Sheetz. While I ate more food I did some people watching from the window seat I had. Sheetz draws some crazy characters. Once I was done, threw my trash away and back outside I went. Leaving the lot was as crazy as the street grid. Traffic light was located right at the one entrance to the lot which made it a bit hard to form a line of any kind for vehicles exiting.

The crisscrossing continued throughout the day and I had seen this location on my way to another stop. I made a mental note to come back here on my way out. Especially since I was about to hit the highway and head back home. I pulled in and had to take a minute to find a parking spot, this place, like other reviews have stated, stays busy. Not just with vehicular traffic, but with foot traffic and bikes. There were a few out front while people were rummaging inside and dining. I made my way in and headed for the facilities. They were in order and a breeze to use. Came back out to grab a drink and snack for the road. I then got in line, bypassed the self checkouts to get an item from behind the counter. The staff here were kind of fun. They kept it moving though. Having gotten my items I headed back outside to try and get out of this lot. With the amount of customers here, it can take some time to get out of your spot. Not only that, it may take some time to get on the road in the direction you need to go. This is a very busy intersection and you do need to be careful when exiting.
