Additionally, if the owner or manager is aware they are closing early and gives them permission to close early on busy Saturday nights, then maybe you should change the sign to state you close at "8:30" as customers expect the store to be open till 9, when the sign states it's open till 9. And lastly, give your employees some customer service training. They clearly did not want to be there and looked like they were miserable to be working there, which was also probably why they were closing early.
