My friend and I found La Mary completely by chance one day at lunchtime. Luckily, we happened upon it at around 1:30pm and it wasn't crowded at that time. It filled out very quickly before we finished our meal. We went with the special fiesta menu. It came with a main course, nachos, dips, and an amazing Caesar salad. It even included wine a dessert - an excellent value, and everything was delicious! La Mary's ambiance reminded me of Scandinavia; everything was is very clean and blue is the predominant color. When in Spain, you want to eat Spanish food. This place is labelled as Spanish on Yelp, however, the menu in the restaurant said Meditarranean. They had dishes such as chicken tikka masala, lasagna, duck confit, spaghetti etc. Anyways, we started off with some bread which cost 1 Euro. We got 2 pieces of rock hard bread. I love bread, I am usually not too picky with bread, but this bread was worst than the hard buns they serve you on the aeroplane. This bread was dry and hard, it had clearly been sitting out for hours. The waiter didn't even give us olive oil (or butter) for the bread. We also had some wine. They had wine from Valencia which was great! I decided to try a bottle called Mala Vida, which means bad life haha. I guess I was having sorta a bad time, becuase I wanted to eat Spanish food, and came to a restaurant that wasn't exactly Spanish. We tried to make the best out of the situation by ordering the dishes that seemed Spanish. Patatas bravas: HUGE serving size. I was quite full from eating lots of potatoes. It was good, but the sauce only covered the top layer of potatoes and the bottom layer was a little bland due to the lack of spicy mayo. Croquettas: We had the ham and cheese croquettas as well as idiazabal croquettas. THe idiazabal cheese was so strong and smelly. if you like smelly cheeses, you will like idiazabal. If you don't, avoid! Octopus on a potato cake: the octopus was very soft and delicious. Duck Confit: we wanted the tuna tataki but it was not available. So we had the duck confit in apricot sauce. The duck was extremely tender and fell off the bone. Desert: We had the special sundae for chocolate addicts- chocolate ice cream, brownie, chocolate fondant, topped with a generous amount of whipped cream, sprinkled with chocolate krispies. I am a chocolate addict. Each bite was heavenly. Layers and layers of chocolate... yum! There is both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seats happen to be near a huge trash/ dumpster, there is another one across the street. We were there at 10pm for dinner and there were people going through the dumpsters, which made me not want to sit outside. Overall, a decent place for food. But don't come here thinking you will get Spanish tapas. This place has a mix of food... Meditarranean ish / international ish. read more

A decent choice though service took too long with crowds at Fallas even with set menu. Fried squid? appetizer is delicious. Valencian paella left something to be desired with single small bites of rabbit and chicken. read more

There are so many fantastic options in Valencia. This isn't one of them. If you must eat here, order the hummus. My husband is very forgiving and he uses expletives when he describes the burger. The duck looked fantastic but was so tough I could barely saw through it with a sharp knife. It's the first time I've ever seen juicy, bright red duck that felt and tasted like cardboard. I don't know how they did it but they did. Nice music though. read more

The reason why I have it a 5* is because of the food. Excellent preparation and the amount is more than enough considering the price. During the week they have a menu for €9,90 that is more than enough for one person. Very nice place, spacious, very well air - conditioned and well decorated. The staff, the food, the decor. We loved everything. Without yelp we probably would have walked passed this restaurant: it looks expensive and wasn't very crowded (it was 9pm on a Tuesday). Upon walking in we were followed by a group of ten people. Anyway, this place is huge, adorable decorations on the walls, ceiling. Our hostess also served us, because the other waiter couldn't speak English. Because there were three of us, we ordered three starters and three mains. Be careful!!! The starters are so good, but the portions are so big, you might not be able to have room for dessert - like we did. The patatas bravas was crispy and they added chorizo on top, which was a first for me. I loved it! We had some sort of cold soup, which was interestingly good! And the last starter was a fried potato, fried egg and Serrano ham dish. How they made it, I don't know. It's delicious. The egg must be cut open to serve as a sauce for the potato and ham. Yes, please order these starters and make sure you haven't had a snack before coming in here because everything is so good you want to finish it to the last crumb! The mains we chose were fish and steak. A grilled hake, which was soft and tender, but with a crispy skin finished with real sea salt and some veggies. A cod baked in aluminum foil: en papillote. Good tasty fish. And the tenderloin in butter. This steak melts on your tongue. I don't know how this place looked so empty when we got in, because the food they serve is so good. Especially the starters, which are the same size as the main dishes. I recommend sharing or not finishing the starters. It would be a shame to miss out on the main because you are full from eating just the starters! 5/5. read more

This was right next to my hotel so I had to try... especially when I saw it was always full during lunch time. For lunch special (daily except for weekend) of 3 course at around €10, this place is good. Good portion size and locals seem to like it a lot. I had black spaghetti and croquettes for dinner. Both were OK but not so memorable... I felt it was more like a place for Spanish comfort food place, where you come here with family or friends. Service is fast and friendly similar to most other Spanish places. read more

Our second night in Valencia and well adapted too the way of life overthere. Dinner at 22 o'clock. A bit different from what we are you used too at home, seeing dinner is mostly served there between 18 and 19 o'clock. Anyway... Again no idea of where to eat this night we just started walking the streets. After a while and loads of closed shops we saw this place called La Mary. We looked at the menu and decided this would be our choice tonight. We were helped straight away, but seeing the restaurant was not even half full... All very friendly though. We ordered our drinks and some nachos with them. For main i ordered the stuffed peppers and my wife the cod with mousseline and ratatouille. Both dishes were excellent, for dessert we had the greek yoghurt espuma with mango chutney, simply superb, and the cheesecake with strawberry icecream, also very well. One minor detail that bothered me a little was that the coffee we ordered with the dessert came after we had our dessert. But hey, nothing is perfect.
