From the Main Street, it is 35 steps up to the main door of the Building then another 25 marrow steps up to the room. Keep that in mind when you're packing your luggage. The owner buzzed us in and allowed us to check in at 12:30pm. They gave us clear instructions for the keys and WiFi. They also charge 1 euro per person tourism tax. There is a coffeemaker, fridge and hair dryer. Bring your own toiletries. WiFi is fast. Power outlets to charge gadgets can be found in headboards and bathroom. Very convenient. One thing I would suggest is for them to leave extra rolls of toilet paper inside the room. The owners don't live there and we didn't know how to call them when we were running out of toilet paper. Also I suggest they have more lights in the stairwell areas as it gets challenging at night if you don't have a phone that has a flashlight. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this room.

Check in is in a small window from 2-5pm, and one of our connecting trains was sold out so we were a bit delayed, but the owners were kind enough to stay around a bit longer to wait for us. It's a very short walk from the train station, although in the directions they send you they'll mention that it's just around the corner from an unnamed pizzeria, but the the street you'll see first is called Via E. Vernazza and not Ettore. You'll find that when you walk up E. Vernazza until you hit a fork and then go left, and you'll be there. Google maps has it placed incorrectly on the right side of the fork. We lucked out and got the largest room, which had a bedroom, small dining area and a bathroom of course. The kicker was the balcony and access to the rooftop patio, which has a couple cabana chairs and a table. When it was too hot to walk around sightseeing in the towns, that was a great place to catch some sun and have some wine, focaccia and limoncello. It was a lot to get for the price we paid, and how little real estate there was in Vernazza. There was a lot of new furnishings in our room and the bathroom, which was nice. We were warned that the owners would come during in the afternoon to do laundry and re-stock breakfast but we were rarely there at that time and they will also do your laundry for 5 euro per wash (air dried on racks and lines on the terrace). Our bed was comfier than some we'd had on our trip in Italy. There was no air conditioning, which was unfortunate given the heatwave, but a couple fans helped make it tolerable. Wifi quality was good. Breakfast was fairly simple - pre-packaged cornetti, cereal and toasts, as well as yogurt, milk and juice in the mini-fridge in the bedroom. It was here that we were introduced to pear juice. Thick and very pear-like, it was so good! Payment is in cash only, but there are a few ATMs in town. Rina Rooms has really friendly owners, and made for a great base of operations in a wonderful little town.

Travel writer Rick Steves recommends Vernazza as his home base when visiting. Also Rick recommends RooMartina, managed of course by Martina, as a good lodging choice. Martina has several apartments in Vernazza. Two of the rooms, n1 and n3, sit right above the harbor square and have spectacular views. How pleasant to sit in the room with windows open, feeling the Mediterranean breeze and hearing happy voices down below. OK, there is one challenge. Vernazza buildings are historic and have no elevators. So to have the view means climbing four stories worth of stairs. To me it is well worth the climb! I pity the travelers who stay nearer the train station as they get no views and get train noise. Martina is a wonderful host and was very responsive to our requests. I can't wait to return and secure a room with Martina!

We had reserved a private room with a private bathroom. Everything was very clean, and the the hosts were friendly and helpful! Albergo Barbara is on the top floor of the building it is in, and our room was a floor up from the office. Keep in mind that in order to get there, you have to climb many flights of stairs. Fortunately, this wasn't an issue for us, and just made us appreciate getting to the room after a day of hiking around Cinqueterre that much more. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is that we found the sound from room to room travels quite easily. A nice couple who had their phone stolen were trying to call back home to have it wiped. But since I guess there phone service was spotty, we listened to them trying to do this for a number of hours! It was actually mildly entertaining, so it not all bad, and at other times it was quite manageable.

We were able to have dinner at their lovely new restaurant. Fortunately there was a cancellation. We were seated at the bar with remarkable views. But I have to say the food was the main attraction. Kudos to the woman chef, who brought out our food. Everything was delicious ‼ For dessert we did order a chocolate and pear cake, we were not to keen on it so they did bring us out some amazing Panna Cota, with a homemade raspberry sauce. My goodness‼ When you are in Vernazza, you have to give this place a try‼

Our guide was really sweet and funny and they provide snorkel masks and swimming noodles. We got to stop to swim twice which was a lot of fun. This was worth the bit of extra money as we had a long, wonderful day on the water. Our boat also only had 5 people on it (me and my boyfriend and 3 older people) so we basically had the boat to ourselves and could sit wherever we liked.

Angelo is the best…read more My husband had read about Angelo's Boat Tours prior to leaving on vacation, but he was worried they would not be up and running because we were there early in the season. During our trip my husband wrote to Angelo, and imagine our pleasure when we found out the sea was going to be calm enough to go out on the boat. Angelo is a dear as is his wife Paula. We met the boat at the dock at Monterosso and were quickly greeted and helped onto the boat. Angelo took us on a leisurely evening trip to show us all the towns, while giving us an explanation of the local flavor of each town. Angelo is very charming and provided us with proseco to drink while on the boat. We then stopped at a marvelous restaurant with Angelo, Il Porticciolo in Manarola before heading to view the last town of Riomaggiore. A great time was had by all. Paula had made us dinner reservations in Vernazza, which was definitely the best dinner of the trip. Make sure when you are going to Cinqueterre that you plan to spend time on Angelo's boat. You will be delighted, as we were.
