This business site seemed to have been created for reviews of the bar establishment on the beach…read morebut with photos featuring the Statua Il Gigante. Location ~ farthest end from the Spiaggia di Fegina and a good walk from the train station. For passing tourists, a chillaxing spot on the unnoticed side apart from the main center. The bar ~ local, more like a tiki setup with falling apart decor and handwritten menus. Music playing feels more Caribbean than Mediterranean. Only the patio for seating, thankful for the umbrellas shielding the sunburning rays. The drinks ~ usual Italian pilsners, beach cocktails. Pours on the heavier side had our group drinking more than we should have and our obnoxiousness elevated to annoyance of others. Appetizers always seem delish when pairing with a lot of drinks. Bathroom available for diners. Time flies when having fun so check your watch frequently; almost missed the train again. The perfect beach bar. Statua Il Gigante ~ about 100 yards away at the end of the beach is a private villa with an eye popping sculpture that is the symbolic icon of the town. Named Neptune and in 14 meters in height, named fittingly as Gigante. Carved out of the cliff rock, he once guarded the beach with muscular arms & trident. This guy & villa survived bombings from the world war and natural elements but it is evident it is wearing down on him. He needs a drink from the bar.

It's also nice to have access to a change room and bathroom, after swimming. They serve baked goods, coffee and hard bar drinks.

A small bathroom, desk, and patio were also included. The mini fridge had some drinks for us, free of charge which was nice. We also received a bottle of water and cookie on each nightstand. The patio doors and window had no screen so when we opened the room filled with mosquitoes. But it was very pretty to look out over the water with the doors closed. The location was nice but I believe everything in town is about the same distance from the center of town. And the train is near by everything. Long story short the place is nice with a comfy bed and we felt safe. But many options in town also looked very nice and were less than half the price so I would shop around a little before committing.

Alla Porta Rossa refers to 8 apartments in Manarola and one in Riomaggiore that you can rent out…read more This review is for the Alla Marina apartment. The apartment has a living room, kitchen, 1 double "room" (really just a partitioned area from the second bed "room"), a double sofa bed, a very, very tiny single room, single bathroom with shower, huge terrace with a view of the main strip (don't believe them when they say "seaview" - that means you can see a sliver of the ocean). Apartment has a full kitchen, AC and satellite TV. The apartment sleeps 5 (two each in the two double beds, 1 in the small coffin...errr... I mean bedroom) but you can pay extra for extra people. You can comfortably sleep one person on the couch and then more people (maybe 3) on the floor of the large living room. Make all of your arrangements online through the website. You will then be given instructions on where to find the main rental office for Alla Porta Rossa where you meet Barbara. After you've paid (cash gets you a discount) you will then be led to the apartments. I love, love, love this apartment and will try to stay here as much as possible when I'm here. Hopefully they come out ok after the recent mudslides. There's nothing like the feeling of coming "home" at night, going to the balcony, opening a bottle of wine and a variety of cheeses and just looking at all the stars in the sky. Buy food from any of the restaurants downstairs and then ask them if you can take it up to the house if you desire. You can also do your laundry in the small (I mean tiny) washing machine and then air dry it right outside on the balcony. Remember that this is an apartment so no one will be coming by to fix your sheets. If you want to feel like a local this is THE place to stay! If you're coming here by train give yourself extra time to get here. The trains are completely unreliable and you WILL be late most of the time if you don't account for this. You do NOT want to piss Barbara off. Trust me on that one. =D Sorry Barbara! I will definitely be coming back to Manarola and will rent from Alla Porta Rossa again.

It literally takes us a 5-10min walk to get down to the bottom beach area and a few seconds to get to shops in town. Andrea, the owner/host, was fantastic! He was nice and greeted us daily as we left and came back. He gave us useful hints on where to eat, places to see, and options to exploring all the towns of cinque terre. The maid was sweet and super nice as well - she's been working here for 15+ years. That's some local service for you. It's also conveniently located next to a market and laundromat! The rooms were on the smaller side but the beds comfortable and there's some crazy black out shutters making it easy to catch up on zzzz's! The wifi worked well and even though the bathroom was super tiny, the water pressure was strong and fantastic. Just requires a bit of maneuvering to put stuff in there cause there is zero counter space. There is a tiny fridge, a closet, and hair dryer, etc. Great place, great location. AC doesn't work though so it was a bit muggy and hot and we didn't want to open the windows cause the mosquitoes are so bad!

What really made our stay was Andrea, the extremely friendly and helpful owner. He really went out of his way to make us feel welcome, and to recommend several restaurants for us to try - all of which were excellent and very good value. Though the walls were a bit thin (we could hear nearly everything in the halls), for the price we paid, it was a great find. I'd gladly stay here again.

The room was ready for us even though we arrived early and sadly could not respond to Sara on what's app. Everything was provided for us, the only complaint is the pillows. Wish they were not so flat. Californians like their pillows fluffyOur view was amazing. It is high up but we found out the next day an easier way up, without climbing all those stairs. We were able to have dinner at their lovely new restaurant. Fortunately there was a cancellation. We were seated at the bar with remarkable views. But I have to say the food was the main attraction. Kudos to the woman chef, who brought out our food. Everything was delicious ‼ For dessert we did order a chocolate and pear cake, we were not to keen on it so they did bring us out some amazing Panna Cota, with a homemade raspberry sauce. It's a sweat-inducing climb up the winding steps from the Corniglia rail station, or a brief bus ride up (free, if you bear a Cinque Terre tourism card). This one-bedroom flat offers sweeping views of the Mediterranean, along with glimpses of one of the western Cinque Terre villages off in the distance. The living room is the perfect spot to cosy up with that special someone over a cheese plate and bottle of wine (from the one general store in town) to watch a quiet, peaceful sunset. Corniglia as a village was charming in itself - by the end of our brief stay there, we'd pretty much gotten to know all of the employees/proprietors of the local shops by face. There's a sole convenience store, selling outrageously-priced basic products like soap and sunscreen, a few adorable cafés, and a handful of proper restaurants. Expect to spend your exploratory time in the other four villages; having the peace and respite from the hordes of tourists to come back to made Corniglia worth the inconveniences. My beef with Casa Orietta was the hassle of checking out and paying for our stay. Per various websites and some previously written communications with the eponymous owner of the establishment, credit cards were accepted. Unfortunately, that was not the case for us, and no intelligible reason was offered as to why. My unconfirmed suspicion was that Orietta, who's seemingly quite the matron about town, simply preferred cash payment. Good thing there's one ATM down by the village square - had it been out of order or lacking sufficient funds, we'd have been out of luck. For a place to stay in Cinque Terre that's a little off the beaten path, this served as perfectly suitable housing. It's a great way to obtain some local flavour and to escape the masses, while (literally) being in the middle of the chain of villages. Just beware that you may end up having to shell out some more cold hard cash than you expected.
