It literally takes us a 5-10min walk to get down to the bottom beach area and a few seconds to get to shops in town. Andrea, the owner/host, was fantastic! He was nice and greeted us daily as we left and came back. He gave us useful hints on where to eat, places to see, and options to exploring all the towns of cinque terre. The maid was sweet and super nice as well - she's been working here for 15+ years. That's some local service for you. It's also conveniently located next to a market and laundromat! The rooms were on the smaller side but the beds comfortable and there's some crazy black out shutters making it easy to catch up on zzzz's! The wifi worked well and even though the bathroom was super tiny, the water pressure was strong and fantastic. Just requires a bit of maneuvering to put stuff in there cause there is zero counter space. There is a tiny fridge, a closet, and hair dryer, etc. Great place, great location. AC doesn't work though so it was a bit muggy and hot and we didn't want to open the windows cause the mosquitoes are so bad!

What really made our stay was Andrea, the extremely friendly and helpful owner. He really went out of his way to make us feel welcome, and to recommend several restaurants for us to try - all of which were excellent and very good value. Though the walls were a bit thin (we could hear nearly everything in the halls), for the price we paid, it was a great find. I'd gladly stay here again.

Manuel's Guesthouse - View from the patio

If you are not very mobile I would suggest other accommodations. Even a pair of spry, healthy adults in their thirties will be a little winded after lugging their suitcases up to the top. Fortunately Lorenzo and his dad, the proprietors (nephew and brother of resident artist and owner Manuel), will greet you when you arrive, help you into your room and then promptly offer you a glass of beer or wine on the patio (for 3 euros or so each). If you're lucky a couple of cute and friendly cats will welcome you too. The view from the patio (and possibly your room, if you're lucky) is simply stunning, especially on a sunny day. Once you see the view and the comfortable, recently-renovated rooms you will feel that the steep climb was worth it. Each morning we dined on breakfast on the patio with fresh focaccia, prosciuto, fresh fruit and an otherwise typical buffet of cereals, yogurt and pastries. We savored our coffee and drank in the amazing view while preparing for the day's adventures. Manuel's doesn't take credit cards, so be sure to get ample cash at an ATM before you check out and save yourself the hassle of jogging down the steps and up again--like I did.

They make delicious breakfast for guests each morning including fantastic smoothies. You will love this place. Lots of steps to get there but that is why the views are spectacular. Postcard material and memorable experience meeting this lovely family. I can't wait to return again.

Cozy, quiet, and VERY modern and clean! Everything looks and feels as if you're the first people to ever stay in the room - the showers are even especially clean! She provides a mini fridge, safe, kettle in your room, TV, and a little basket of toiletries. Definitely will be back to visit Carola and to stay in this lovely place! There's even a garden to sit out and read if you like, while you overlook the beautiful town of Monterosso. It's such a prime location right near the best restaurants in town!

Monterosso is very well maintained and manicured which is not always the case for the other 4 cities. We love Casa di Andrea - amazing upkeep and quite high tech for a B&B (electronic key card!). Our room was tidy and cute - it looked like it was just recently renovated. The shower had good water pressure, and the shower door could be closed fully to block out water from getting the bathroom floor all wet. Since Casa is located up the hill, I don't recommend this property for older folks or anyone with mobility issue! You will have to climb up multiple flights of stairs. But the pro is that the view is amazing! Carola runs this property and does it with such great taste! Her breakfast, although simple, is actually our favorite among all the hotels we visited on our trip. From the napkins to the cups and mugs, everything was colorful and elegantly presented! We got fresh coffee, fresh cut fruits, croissants, ham and cheese with toasts, and yogurt for breakfast. My husband typically doesn't eat breakfast and hates carbs, he made an exception for Carola because he loved what she put together. I highly recommend this property for your stay in Monterosso! You will have an amazing time!

The hotel is located farther into Monterosso and up a bit of a climb - they can reserve a taxi for you which picks you up from the train station if you do not wish to lug your luggage up the entire way. There are only 2-3 taxis in Monterosso (costs 15 euros each way). Wait to buy your Cinque Terre pass and Via Dell'Amore ticket - they can help you purchase what you need here for up to half off! We also did the pasta, pesto, and tiramisu class here which was a lot of fun! Would definitely recommend it. It is 120 euros per person and has to be paid in cash - there are several ATMs nearby. We were here for the first day of the Lemon Festival (mid-May) so all the shops had lemon themed displays up!

The rooms are very comfortable and have all the amenities you need including a terrace with a sea-view. The owners, Matteo and Carla, as well as the entire staff, are the best I have ever experienced. They are all kind and welcoming. They anticipated our needs by giving us information about the trains and hiking among villages in Cinque Terra. My brother in law wasn't feeling well and stayed at the hotel the first day. Carla called a doctor and also checked on him throughout the day. We all took a cooking class with Carla and it was fabulous. We made tiramisu, pasta, pesto and branzino. She was so patient with our lack of skills and made it fun. We all felt we might be able to do these recipes at home. We ate the delicious meal on an upper terrace with an even more amazing view. We were in Italy for two weeks and this was my favorite hotel. THE BEST!
