Ordered 2 asada tacos with cheese and 2 pastor tacos with cheese. Asada meat had a bunch of chewy pieces of meat but the marination was good. Red salsa is spicy Pastor tacos were much better and deliciously marinated.
I forgot to take a picture of the quesadillas doradas but they were delicious! Chicken for me and carne guisado. Super cheesy and fried to absolute perfection. The tinga was seasoned well and had grilled onions and sour cream with lettuce. The perfect bite! The taco was 100/10! Meat was top notch quality. Cute little hole in the wall spot y'all will see me again
La Mama Chuy is one of the few 2 A.M. food options after Club Cobra closes, so expect a nightlife crowd. The wait took a long time, but I really enjoyed their fried quesadillas. I took whatever (unknown) varieties they had available, but they were delicious.
LA mama Chuy 10/10!!! I'm not originally from the area and have been looking for a place that sales an authentic and delicious huarche! Service was great and the men that were working were very friendly and made me feel as if I was having dinner at my tios house in Mexico City. The ambiance is cute and colorful! PS The serving size is huge!!! So worth it!!!
My dad knows that I love food and is always on the lookout for a new place for us to try. One day he was telling me about this restaurant he saw while driving in Burbank. He said the name was four letters with a y in it. We drove all around Burbank looking for this place and couldn't find it. Heading back home on Burbank Blvd he gets excited and points to the restaurant, LA Mama Chuy so we stop. Restaurant is small with about 4 booths but real clean and neat. The guy working seemed like he did everything. He suggested the deep fried quesadilla. We ordered 2 tacos 1 chicken tinga and 1 asada, and 2 deep fried quesadillas 1 asada and 1 chicken tinga. Tacos came out first. My asada taco was filled to the brim but was not very good. The meat was tough and not very flavorful. The tortillas were store bought and not warmed up enough on the grill. It ate very oily with not much flavor. Tried drowning the taco in the salsa but that to was bland. Dad said his taco was OK. I did try some of the chicken which was more flavorful than the asada. Not a good start. The deep fried quesadillas came out and they looked crunchy. I again had the Asada and my dad had the chicken. Took my first bite and it was very crunchy, kind of like an empanada but crunchier. Unfortunately, it was lacking flavor or even that umami bomb mixture of cheese and beef. Very very bland. Dunked it in the avocado salsa but that was not much help. Dad was telling me how good his chicken one was so I took a bite. Much better than mine, the chicken really stood out here. Best bite of the meal. Overall I wanted to like the place. I may come back to try some of the other Meats with the deep fried quesadilla but steer clear of the asada. Pretty disappointed but may have just ordered the wrong thing.
I tried their fried empanada with Picadillo which was stuffed ground beef. The empanada itself was tasty just the salsa on the side grossed me out. They brought me a green tomatio salsa already in the to go container even though I dined in. The salsa was that of a gel and even when turned upside wouldn't come out. I had to stir it up and it was either not fresh or something else just that jelly type salsa ruined the meal for me, loss of appetite.
Been looking for some tasty tacos and I found it here and more! There is a lot of choices in NoHo for street/side walk or food trucks tacos - I been looking for that flavorful food in a brick and mortar. The place is clean and the service was exceptional. The server was attentive and service was quick. I ordered the chicken burrito, asada mulitas and al pastor taco. The chicken was juicy and the asada and al pastor was so fresh and flavorful.
Everything was fresh and tasty! We wolfed down the deep-fried quesadilla before I snapped a pic. OMG, good! Came back the next day for the mole tamales - Excellent! Will definitely be back.

Popped in around 5pm this past Sunday because I was in the area and their sign caught my eye. I was craving tacos and wanted a warm place to sit and not have to stand while eating from a sidewalk vendor. Turned around and parked down the street on Burbank Blvd. It was quaint upon entry, but I was the only customer. Went simple and order 5 carne asada tacos. Got my order pretty quickly. Each taco is on 2 tortillas. I would eat with one and let meat fall onto the second. Nice that I didn't have to scoop it all up with my fingers to clean my plate. The carne asada had a nice smoky flavor reminiscent of the flavor of a Tacos El Gordo taco. Taco craving satisfied. read more

I had an amazing time at La Mama Chuy. The Al Pastor tacos were delicious! Excellent blended with flavor, juicy, and enough cooked. The green & red sauces added a superb taste to the tacos. Along with that chef's highly recommended chicken quesadillas were wonderful. Plus, nice garnishing on the top. More than anything the head chef, Alex was personally talking to the customers and explaining to them about different dishes and customizing their needs. He told me his family story about serving Mexican food for the last twenty years. Now they opened their own restaurant "Mama Chuy". I would highly recommend this place! read more

So glad we stopped by on a rainy day! Still sitting in the restaurant as I type this out but truly a gem. I've been craving some really good Al pastor tacos and this place did not disappoint. The flavors are all very good, deep and rich. Wish the salsas were a little spicier but that didn't ruin the tacos at all. The fried plantains were so damn good, definitely a new favorite spot. read more

Bruh this place is literally not real. Like the food is so good with hospitality that hasn't been seen in ages makes this place a diamond in the rough that is north Hollywood. Like holy shit why go to Taco Bell or literally anywhere else especially late at night. This place is worth my time and I can say it's probably worth yours too read more

Their quesadillas are made with love. I tells ya!!! Don't miss out. Staff is extremely friendly and patient. We order the chicharon quesadilla which is pork rind and they were so tasty we came back for more! It does run a little spicy due to the fact that the chicharon is drenched (in a good way) in sauce. Their tortillas are handmade and have a bit of an empanada vibe but thinner. SOOOOO BOMB! My favorite part was that they had habanero pickled onions that were so good and such a great add-on to the quesadilla. We also had their fried bananas with nutella and strawberry marmalade. It was lightly fried bananas smothered in Nutella and strawberry jelly. They are better tasting than they look. Trust me! Highly recommend this place *chefs kiss* read more

One of the friendliest places in North Hollywood. They're open late on weekends (2 AM). Started as a hot dog street vendor and now they have a full restaurant. Amazing service. The fried quesadillas are AMAZING! read more
