This isn't a fancy or high-end store - but I think for what it is and what they charge, it's a fantastic place. You may not find formal wear here, but for about everything else for 95% needed in life, you should find it here (or for men's at least). I'd almost liken it to if the Gap company put all their stores in one place (Old Navy, Gap and Banana Republic), but then a sprinkling of fairy dust to then bring it up a level in each respect. You'll find casual, casual with a bit more style, work-appropriate and even dressier (but not formal). I was quite surprised how how reasonable the prices seemed, even at regular price in many cases. But if you're looking for sales, they're here in abundance too. Most of what they offer are house brands, but from what I saw, that's a good thing! I won't really bother going into specifics since there's just so a huge amount of stuff to choose from, and all sorts of styles and fits. But apart from people looking for high-end fashion, most should find lots of stuff here they'd like. I almost feel that this place is a bit slept-on as it wasn't terribly busy. I personally hope they're here to stay.

The beautiful architecture marries with the Anthro aesthetic perfectly. Lovely selection, particularly the housewares department. Was just a bit disappointed in the clothing department. I guess for such a large, lovely space I was expecting a bit more stock. It's not lacking by any stretch, but I've seen other stores pack in more in a smaller footprint, like shoes and such. But it's still an exceptionally beautiful store that was a pleasure to stroll and browse in. I was glad because there was a white dress I wanted to buy. I walked in, the saleslady who was sitting on the bench outside RAN after me. I looked around, saw a few pieces then I ask her for MY size. Her reply was: 1....thousand...2hundred... [ VERY SLOWLY] I wanted to introduce her face to my palm. But I contained myself. I'm NEVER going back there, I go downtown instead. Luckily, in Toronto we have a lot of little boutiques around the city that specialize plus size. Gussied Up has been around for a few years in Toronto and even has a store in Vaughan. Victoria, the owner, is an absolute gem and has the best memory! She obviously curates her store to carry great, special pieces and has a variety of classic and basic pieces as well as more higher label pieces that are seldom available to find in Canada. She has always been super helpful and never pushy. I also rather support a small business and have my dollars go back into the community. Even today, I popped in after not visiting in a while and Anna, the shop girl, was super patient, attentive and a great help in finding me suggestions. I look forward to coming back and buying some new dresses! Notably a lot Joseph Ribkoff pieces here! Some gorgeous unique gems. Also some of the cutest swimwear! Gussied Up is always worth the short bus ride from Bathurst station to Dupont or a short walk! Trust me.

So I find the stitching and fabrics a good step up from anything you'd find in the normal malls. I would say the overall look curated here is casual and relaxed with a pretty spin. So think loose dresses in light prints, flowy blouses, A line tank tops that keeps you cool, and comfy linen pants. Personally my preference didn't quite fit this look but I did enjoy perusing the racks in hopes of finding something. This particular store is not large so I had a hard time finding anything in my size even if I did find clothes that did catch my eye. I do appreciate how everything was nicely organized so I could look around without feeling claustrophobic or lost in a maze of racks. Service here was courteous and prompt. They did welcome everyone who walked in and that was a nice touch. For those who did need help, I could see them actively trying to find a new size or help bring over a new accessories to match the items they were trying. Overall, I'd love to support a Canadian store that offers quality items that are Canadian made. Totally thrilled with the idea. Maybe in another season I could find a casual and yet cute item there.

The sign says "hand-picked vintage" and it's a good description. The space is quite small (looks like a converted apartment, with 2 small rooms and a hallway) and the selection is not as vast as some of the bigger vintage shops. However, each piece is carefully chosen (hence the name). The owner is really friendly and as my shopping partner and I perused the racks, she gave us back-stories for many of the pieces that caught our eyes. She also has altered some of the items to make them more wearable circa now. Compared to other vintage stores, there were some really kooky/costumey pieces here, include a gold lamé jumpsuit ("I had to take that one... it has stirrups!!") and a gothic, Addams-Family-esque black velvet dress with white lace detailing. This would be a fantastic place to find the perfect Halloween costume. It's also a great place to re-live the 90's. As I was browsing, I found myself repeatedly saying to my friend - "omg, remember these?!?" Like those cutout shoulder dresses. Other finds include leopard printed faux-fur coats and beat-up vintage leather jackets for men. There's a sale rack (currently 50% off some winter merchandise) and a $10 accessories section at the back. Definitely worth a look!

The clothes: Whereas a lot of vintage shops in the city have a huge variety of clothing from all kinds of different eras, Chosen features a well-curated selection of clothes that appeal to anyone with a lust for the 90s (ie. me) and girls who want to be a bit more badass and a bit less girly. But this doesn't mean they don't have girly t't to Chosen and you can find sexy little lace slips, James Dean-esque leather jackets, and combat boots for dancing all night.
