The menu is small but offers a variety of items that are local/Napoletano style including pasta, pizza, and seafood. Wine and beer selection. Service was warm, friendly, and quick. The food was delicious... we both had seafood pasta dishes and a recommended red wine. Recommend a reservation. We luckily ate at 7pm and they were able to accommodate us. Thank goodness for not yet being acclimated to the late Italian eating, haha. Oh and for my other non-Italian speakers (I'm learning), they do have an English menu. A solid 4.5

There are a couple tables directly outside the restaurant, a couple tables around the corner from the restaurant outside, and a couple tables inside around the corner after that. The inside seating is not great and does not have a lot of airflow but the outdoor seating is great. The menu itself is a lot of fried food as the name would suggest. The fried food isn't very greasy though, it's light and a very nice appetizer. I had calamari and the zucchini flower. The calamari was pricey even for the area at 10€ and did not come with a lot. The zucchini flower was good and fun to try because we haven't had it before. They also had a small chalkboard with a daily special which we tried, linguini with clams and we also got fried pizza. The fried pizza was just ricotta and salami, no tomato. The outside was perfectly crispy but I think it needed something else inside like tomato. The linguini was great, there were a lot of clams and the pasta and olive oil were delicious. I probably wouldn't come here again for a meal, only appetizers. Better for lunch than for dinner.

It's a casual place to stop and have a nice lunch by the sea. There's a nice little patio in the courtyard next to the restaurant where you can sit, drink your beer and eat your fried pizza, octopus salad or whatever else you find tempting. It's all good.

Both of us were happy with our meals and we only spent under €40. We sat outside because the air conditioning inside really was not working very well, and it seemed outside was the cooler option. All in all a good choice and within walking distance of one of the best in on the coast, south of Rome.

Valario welcomed us as family of 18 for a feast that was the highlight of our trip to Southern Italy. They put together a special night of 10 delicious antipasto both cold and hot. Fantastic eggplant Parmesan, arancini, fried calamari, a seafood plate, zucchini and more. The main course was a choice of a seafood risotto or rigatoni bolognese and of course a pizza margarita. Plenty of great house wines, limoncello and tiramisu. The food, the friendships and family made the night and the trip special. This restaurant is much more than what we Americans think is a pizzeria. It is a hidden gem of a restaurant that also serves pizza. I will return

There is ample covered outdoor seating, a large indoor dining room, and like many long-standing restaurants in this area, Zi' Anna employs professional wait staff, who see their role as your guide to the experience, and take that role seriously. That said, you won't be forgotten wherever you sit, and your server is the best resource for the perfect wine to pair with any of the delicious offerings on their relatively concise menu. You are in a fishing port, and you are there for expertly-prepared seafood. Start with the antipasto di mare, alici marinate or insalata di polpo. The gamberetti e rucola are also sublime. A pasta dish is a must here, and you can't go wrong with most - all of them prepared to a creamy level of refinement that in my opinion is taken for granted by locals. Staples: linguine agli scampi, risotto alla pescatora, schiaffoni alla Cardinale or with zucchini and gamberi. Portions are traditionally moderate, so you can have/share an antipasto, pasta dish and a second course. The fritto misto di mare is a classic, grigliata mista di pesce prepared to perfection, grilled baby calamari are perfectly tender. We live in NYC so perhaps our pricing expectations are skewed, but $10-12 for a plate of pasta this good is a bargain by us. Generally we are 5-7 people at dinner for a cost of under 200 euros. €30 pp average, including wine, for a meal at this level is hard to beat. We've been out to many meals in Formia and Zi' Anna is a go-to.

Always been interested and drawn to restaurants which does not try to catch your attention. Places…read morewhich just want to be where they are. I admit its more and more difficult to find them but it still happens. This specific evening I walked along the harbour of Gaeta. Passed by numerous restaurants until everything seemed to end in darkness. In this darkness I saw a light 100 meters further away. As I continued my search for a place to eat I heard voices and saw a sign in light; Mediterraneo. I was met with smiles and kindness. Ordered a Risotto Pescatore and a glass of wine while in conversation with the owner and other guests. The risotto was served and it was world class quality. Mediterraneo is part of this city´s history and tradition. It took pride in simplicity and grounding itself in the people living here. The restaurant closed and we all said good-bye and good night. Went back to my hotel happy to have confronted the darkness to find the light of restaurant Mediterraneo. You can try my experience when in Gaeta.
