Kids cheese quesadilla with refried beans and rice.
Patti C.

We stopped into La Hacienda for lunch on a week day. Happy to see a pretty full parking lot and many people enjoying the lunch specials. We came with a 15 month old and they had a high chair available and sat us by the central fountain which was a lovely location. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. We received our basket of chips and salsa when we were seated. We got our orders so quickly. There was lots of food and it was all fresh. My daughter had the taco salad and enjoyed it. My grandson' kids pick of cheese quesadilla with refried beans and rice was huge. He loves Mexican food but did not eat anything here. He enjoyed watching and waving to the staff who were all so sweet to him. My order was a chili rellano, beef burrito and chicken taco. Unfortunately there was absolutely no seasoning on anything. I used the bowl of salsa to flavor the burrito but even that didn't help. When opening my chicken taco not one onion, pepper or any spice was seen. Lots of good shredded chicken but no flavor. We brought my grandsons home and he still wouldn't eat it, but tasting his was the same, no flavor at all. He would normally eat a full plate of refried beans and one of his favorites is a cheese quesadilla but even he wanted some flavor and spices added. Everything was fresh and nicely presented but the flavors and seasoning were lacking. Unfortunately we probably won't be back.

I grew up in a small town of very boring, bland, everyone goes to Village Inn for breakfast every weekend morning food. La Hacienda was the only restaurant in the area of any other non-American cuisine when I was really young. Once I got into high school, other places started to pop up. But if you were in Pace and wanted Mexican, this was your only option. I came here many times with my family, when my Momma wanted to take a break from making her delicious homemade tortillas. And man, this place was like a home away from home. It's never going to win a Michelin Star. It will never even get mentioned on the internet anywhere, but it is good down-home cooking. They have ample options on their simpler section of the menu, like a taco, a burrito, an enchilada, etc. All done right, and packed with meat. Their unlimited chips and salsa are also great. Thin, crispy, salty chips, hot right out of the fryer. An a-ok salsa, with the option to purchase a bowl of guac or a bowl of warm, white queso. I also really like their fajitas. That's what I get pretty much every time I go, because it's just so fun for me to make my own tacos of a little meat, a little veg, some guac, a little salsa, maybe crush a tortilla chip or two in there for texture. It's a good time. Like playing with your food. Sometimes I write reviews and it turns out to be just the ramblings of a mad man. So, I'll stop now, because La Hacienda certainly doesn't need four full paragraphs to say that the ambiance is nice, the staff is friendly, and the food is good. If you're in Pace, FL, for some reason, stop in.

There really pricey and the workers were standing there and watching us and staring at me. The cheese dip has a piece a hair in it and we didn't notice until we ate most of it. They also wouldn't let kids order off the kid menu.

Let me start off by saying the aesthetic of this place was quite beautiful. We sat by the structure in the middle of the restaurant in a cozy booth, able to see and hear the water flowing. It was quite beautiful for a date night. The service was pretty good, as they answered all of our questions to the best of their knowledge and stayed on top of refills. THE CHIPS & SALSA GUYS! Oof. I am a huge sucker for delicious chips & these were it! They tasted like they were made in house, with the first batch & the refill batches brought out to us still hot and fresh. The salsa was really good, especially accompanied by the guacamole. I recommend getting a horchata to drink alongside your meal as you won't be disappointed. It's bottomless so save yourself a bit & order one to share. That's what the hubby & I did. I forgot what the name of the platter was called, but my husband's platter plate was really good. I enjoyed the inside of my burrito a lot, but I'm going to be completely honest & say that the cheese sauce on top ruined it for me. It wasn't good. I am knocking off one star for one sole reason: the "fried ice cream." I am one who spends her whole meal looking forward to desert, so when desert comes out and it's not up to par, it completely ruins the experience for me. The "fried ice cream" was in fact, NOT fried. Just rolled in what tasted like cornflake crumbles. The flavor was good, but the fact that it wasn't fried was a major disappointment at the price that was paid. I will be back in the future, don't get me wrong. I'll just get desert elsewhere though as they broke my heart with this one!

Pace location - I've been there twice. The parking lot always smells like a trash dumpster as you enter the restaurant.

Meh. Mediocre tex-mex. Food was bland and queso was disappointing. Service was fine. No alcohol. Ambience was fine but it was loud.

Bad food because it either comes from a can or comes frozen food, I'm sure they don't even have a grill. Sorry but this isn't Mexican

Lupita's Mexican Kitchen - Biri Biri Tacos and Steak Burrito

Lupita's Mexican Kitchen

4.5(53 reviews)

I am not sure if there was another place near by called Lupita's fast food or if this is the same…read moreplace, but it seems like reviewers have got them confused. One review said they had the "best queso ever" at Lupitas Mexican Kitchen, but they apparently do not sell queso. So that was the first let down. The price of the 4 birria tacos was impressive, they were pretty good, just not amazing. The chicken quesadilla didn't really have any cheese, literally the chicken just fell out because there was nothing to hold it together. The steak burritos were decent, but again nothing to rave about. It did the trick, but I won't be back.

Lupita's Mexican Kitchen is just another great example of my long-held belief that the best Mexican…read morefood does not come from high-end or fancy restaurants that just drip with hipster ambiance, but rather I have always found that the best Mexican food comes from these humble little mom-and-pop places that are inexpensively furnished, but the staff is usually smiling and the food is often indicative of how truly amazing that Mexican food can be. Lupita's Mexican Kitchen has a pretty straightforward menu and I had it narrowed down to either a burrito or the birria tacos and I asked the smiling young lady behind the counter which of the two I should go with. After a momentary pause, she pointed to the birria tacos sign. I paid for my order and found a seat. In a few moments, the smiling girl called out to me and handed me my food. The plate consisted of four birria tacos, a cup of consome (it appears that is the correct spelling for this. I thought it would be spelled like the traditional consomme) and a few small containers of both a spicy red sauce and a creamy green sauce. The price point was thirteen dollars. Quite a good price for the quality and quantity of the food they provided. These birria tacos were very good. I tore into them with quite some gusto. Mexican food is truly a culinary gift. I would have to say that Mexican is one of my favorite cuisines and it is because of these wonderfully humble little mom-and-pop establishments like Lupita's Mexican Kitchen. If you find yourself in Pensacola, Florida and craving Mexican food, Lupita's Mexican Kitchen is a great place to head for. Overall, I would definitely recommend Lupita's Mexican Kitchen and I will give it five stars overall.
