Stayed at the nearby Travelodge for a one night getaway for funsies. Decided to call this restaurant and place a pick up order. Me and my BF shared a La Hacienda fajitas order (for one) and a small cheese dip. The food came well packed and neat. The cheese dip was good. It came with free chips and a small cup of salsa. And i mean small....like a tablespoon at most. The fajitas had mushrooms and squash as well as bell peppers and onions, steak, chicken and shrimp. The biggest issue with the serving size. It was barely enough to make three of the 4 flour tortillas provided. The sides it came with (toppings like lettuce, tomato, guac, beans and rice) was only enough for a small scoop for each of us. Located right next to the big Tanger Outlet shopping plaza, La Hacienda competes with the usual chain restaurants. So rather than have the same old, same old, I tried something different. Warmly greeted by the host, I was immediately seen to a table where I then waited ten minutes for a server to bring chips and take my order. The chips were about average and the salsa was rather plain. My carne asada was served quickly. The steak was way too thin and too fatty, but the flavor was there. Coming home from Lake Hartwell and reviewed the YELP reviews ... Seemed like a good bet BUT we were more than pleasantly surprised. Had to share. Quickly seated with chips and salsa (only bad part was no chunks of fresh ingredients) ... Ordered the queso with chorizo which was kind of thin but still very large and very good for the price! My husband and I both ordered chilango burrito and were very pleased. Nice cold beer and great Mexican makes for a great Valentines dinner. Our server (receipt says Douglas) was very nice and accommodating. When I asked for hot sauce he brought me 3 choices but I liked the homemade one the best. He said it was called "tomateea?" This was more like bar food Mexican than traditional Mexican flare. It was okay, but not in a way where I wanted to go back anytime too soon. Been back to Commerce a few times to visit an assembly plant and not once did I say let's go have Mexican. And Mexican is one of my to goes for dinner. We came here because we really needed to see the FIFA World Cup going on during a trip, but oh was the food bad & tasteless. Chips were thick and greasy, the salsa was watery, the meat quality was below standard and clearly bad quality, vegetables were greasy. Oh things one does for the World Cup. Please stay away. Sorry to say one of my fav places dropped the ball yesterday. Waiter screwed up the order. By the time our food arrived 1 person would have had to wait long enough for ours to be eaten or cold. We shared of course as it's not nice to eat in front of someone who's hungry after a shopping spree at the local mall. My Steak Sancho was terrific except for the grissley hard fat chunks in several bites and some large pieces were not cut properly. That stuff is best removed-not served. Horrible Mexican food. Ordered some flautas and tell me why as soon as I bet them there was grease dripping like water. Nasty!!!! I stopped by after doing some Christmas shopping at Tanger Outlet. Ruby Tuesday was totally out of the question, been there and done that place earlier this year. Started at Ryan's, didn't happen either, that's another review! We decided to try La Hacienda after reading the recent reviews on Yelp. That one negative review almost made me change my mind. I'm glad that I didn't. The place wasn't to bad, big and room restaurant, with a friendly wait staff. For my lunch I had the Pollo Fundido. It's two fried tortilla shells filled with seasoned chicken breast, sautéed onions and poblano peppers, covered in a cheese sauce. The plate comes with yellow rice with peas and a salad with diced tomatoes, topped with sour cream. The chicken was well seasoned and tortillas were crispy/tender, the chicken was tender too. I have to say it was more than I expected it to be, and I would recommend visiting La Hacienda if you are in need of a good place for lunch or dinner and are in the area. read more

I've eaten here plenty of times, it's a solid go to. Great family place. Monday - Thursday kids eat free. Tonight my wife and I ate the Stuffed Poblano and Tour of Mexico respectively. Seriously either meal could've fed two adults. The Poblano came with grilled chicken and cheese, rice and delicious black beans. The Tour of Mexico came with one chalupa, one chili relleno, one enchilada, one beef taco, one burrito, rice and beans. Seriously it was a lot. My usual go to is the Texas fajitas at $14.50. This meal was $11.50 and a lot more food. Not bad at all. Our bill total was very reasonable especially considering the kids ate free. The tortilla chips tasted a bit on the nutty side, the frier oil probably needed to be changed. The manager came by and asked us how our meal was and I told him about the oil, he said he would make sure it got changed and thanked us for telling him. read more

If I could give a 0 star I would. There was a cockroach wandering by and the waiter squashed it and then like slid his foot to like move it outta my line of sight. Meanwhile he leaves the goo and dead legs behind. So I ask for the manager. Which apparently he isn't there. So I explain the situation and ask for the remaining bug to be cleaned off the floor. This girl hardly apologized and then the same bug squasher was like "are you sure you didn't just see me move a piece of paper" ?! NO I saw exactly what you did and now your lying ?! In town for work, this was a nice enough spot to grab a drink and snack after a long day. Margaritas in several sizes and prepared well, pretty standard mix plus triple sec and tequila. Chips and salsa were really good, salsa tasted fresh and just the right kick of spice. Homemade guacamole was also good, a little heavy on the onions. It's just hard for me to get fired up about a Mexican or Chinese restaurant. Typically you get about the same thing - decent food with not so good service. It's very hard for them to break the mold. We had lunch Sunday with my daughter and her family here at La hacienda - it was good - not great. Prices were ok - not great. But I will say that the service exceeded what I normally get in a Mexican restaurant. All in all - very average. I'd go back but it's nothing to rave about. read more

The food is standard Mexican fare, however the prices are a little steep for the Commerce area. BEWARE, if you are going with a large party. We went there recently, after a high school graduation. We called 2.5 hours ahead for a party of 40. Nothing was mentioned about an automatic gratituity being added. Of course, with that size party, a tip of 18% would be understandable. HOWEVER, we were shocked when we were presented our bill with a 35% gratituity added. They printed ONE bill for the entire party of 40, not by table. Imagine trying to sort that out, plus telling the guests in your party there is a 35% tip added. I'm not saying I will never eat there again, but never with a party of more than 5 or 6 people. I can also add, the service was OK, but not worthy of 35% and I am a consistent good tipper. read more

Used to be the best Mexican I had ever eaten. I took many friends and clients there to show off the food, not any longer. Manager left and now runs La Fiesta across the street. Restaurant went downhill quickly after that. The service is hap hazard, with you often getting the wrong dish. Wait staff seem to have a difficult time understanding the customer's orders. Food is mediocre at best, which is a shame considering the high quality and tasty food they used to serve. I missed it tremendously until La Fiesta opened. Not my favorite restaurant and I avoid it now. Go across the street to La Fiesta. or across the bridge to La Azteca. Both are excellent. You will thank me. read more

I left here furious today. Not because of the food, but because of the rude waitstaff. Assuming that my husband and I cannot speak Spanish, our waiter and cashier loudly discussed our bill and how much we were leaving as a tip while we were paying. The waiter sat on a bench in the lobby, texting on his cell phone, talking to the cashier in Spanish, asking how much we left as a tip. She yelled right back and answered him! This was once the best mexican resturant this side of Athens. I have been here many times but as time goes on their quality and service are suffering. My favorite dish was their shrimp and scallops in cheese sauce. This time I really had to say te dish was not worth the money I spent on it. The scallops were frozen bay scallops and tough. I would go there again but if I had an option of any of the other mexican resturants in town, I would go there. read more

This is probably my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. I have always received good service and the staff seem to care about making your dining experience a good one. This place can get a little crowded on Friday and Saturday nights. The Texas Rice dinner is my go to about everytime I go there and the table side guacamole is awesome. I just had the worst experience as far as restaurants go at this place. The food is good but they messed my to go order up 4 times. I ended up sitting there for an hour waiting on them to get it right....I specifically told the lady on the phone to check my food in which she did not...this is an on going problem and its always the same rude lady that takes my order. She didn't even want to help fix the problem some other lady showed up and helped me....the lady at the checkout desk needs to be fired...while I was standing there a few more messed up orders came in and she didn't help them either. She is a pathetic excuse for a human being....the food is great but I'd rather eat dog shit than go back and deal with her.....what makes it worse some kid walked up and told me to just eat there so it dosent get messed up....what the hell does that have to do with anything...im paying for my food to be made a certain way....eating there or not it shouldn't take 4 times to get a simple dish cooked. We went here on our way home from NC. We were a little hesitant because of some of the reviews, but decided to give it a try anyway. We are SO glad that we did!! I got the chimichangas with chicken and it was exceptional! I have never had chimichangas made that way but it was SO good! It reminded me of a mixture between enchiladas (because of the sauce they used to cover the chimichangas), fajitas (because of the bell peppers, onions and tomatoes in the chicken mixture) and chimichangas (because it was deep fried and covered in cheese sauce). It was VERY yummy!! My son, who is super hard to please, really loved their chicken fingers. They were lightly breaded and super tender! My brother got the fajita burrito and he loved his as well! We also loved their cheese dip! Overall, it was a great experience and they deserve better ratings! read more
