We were staying nearby for work and this place was walkable (like less than a min walk) so we gave it a shot. We absolutely loved it! The environment is bright & lively.. just fun. We went twice and had a few different dishes (Fajitas, Quesadilla & Texas Dip) and they all were great. The Texas Dip was a meal in itself and I loved it. The real star is the staff - they were all amazing and it's obvious they have fun at their job which is rare to see. A special call out to the Bartenders, as we sat at the bar both times - they were so kind and helpful. If we lived in the area this would be a regular stop for us.. sadly we live about 8 hours away. We decided to try this newly remodeled restaurant on a Friday night. The space looks beautiful, and the evening started off well--but unfortunately, the service at the end completely ruined the experience. When placing our order, we asked if the shrimp in the Pollo à la Piña could be replaced with an extra side of chicken. Our server said we would be charged an additional fee for the chicken, which we understood--but he also refused to remove the cost of the shrimp we were not getting. When we questioned this, his response was simply, "that's not how it's done." We let it go and continued with dinner. About 30 minutes went by, and our server never checked on us once. When we needed the bill, we had to ask another waiter to find him. Even then, it took another 15 minutes, during which our server walked past our table visibly upset and ignored us--even when I politely tried to get his attention. When he finally brought the check, he said nothing. After running the card, he returned and literally tossed the receipt onto the table without a single word--not even a "thank you" or "good night." It was a very disappointing experience. The restaurant itself has great potential, and it's clear a lot of effort went into the remodel. However, service like this overshadows everything. It was my first time in the area and decided to come to La hacienda. The place is modern, clean, and spacious. There were a lot of options to choose from, they also give you complimentary nachos and salsa. I went with the shredded chicken nachos with jalapeños. It was amazing! This restaurant is my husband and I's new favorite Mexican restaurant, and we've tried a LOT of them in the area! It was very recently renovated and has new menu items, from what we read on the menu. Everything we've tried so far is wonderful and the service is amazing! I believe our server's name was Roberto, and we've never had better service at any restaurant than he gave us. The guacamole, quesabirria tacos, chimichangas and fajitas have all been perfect and super fresh and authentic every time we've eaten here. Nasty. Menus had food all over them. Chips were stale. Tacos were disgusting. Took one bite and didn't eat them. Beans were gross. Rice was dry and crunchy. We will never eat here again. We were able to promptly order and get our food which was great after a long day at pool and camp ground. We also made it in time to enjoy the lunch specials too. The vibes of this restaurant were super homey. The food was pretty decent, kind of overpriced for the amount of food we received. I'm not sure why the frozen margarita turned out to be such a vibrant green color, it was super strong and did it's job. I ordered the chipotle enchilada and it was alright. There was just beans in the tortilla, very simple meal. The chips and salsa were the tastiest part of the meal. Our server was very forgetful and not the nicest. We went on a pretty calm evening too. I have no idea why this place only has three stars. I assume Georgians just don't know what good, authentic Mexican food tastes like. My husband, who is Mexican, and I came here and we were not sure how good it would be compared to what we get in Texas. We were not disappointed. This ranks up there with what we get in Mexico. I had the burrito verde with carnitas and it was divine. The carnitas were so tender and flavorful. Alex had the chicken chimichanga and it was also excellent. And any good Mexican restaurant also needs to be judged on the rice and beans. These also did not disappoint, the refried beans and Mexican rice both were so authentic. Passing through Commerce and stopped for lunch on the recommendation from an employee at Tanger Outlet. We thought the wreath hung on the painted window was nice for Christmas. Floor in the restaurant didn't look wet, but was very slick and slippery. Ladies bathroom was clean and the stalls were big enough to get in & close the door without hugging the wall & toilet. The toilet seat cover dispenser on the wall was empty. I got a fajita quesadilla (chicken) and it was good, but very greasy. Others in my party got the giant burrito with steak & chicken, and the shrimp quesadilla which they liked. We all like the rice. The guacamole was a little spicy and was pureed so it had no texture-just mush. It seemed to me to be just avocado & jalapeño. I waited 15 minutes at the bar and no one even asked me if I wanted a menu. I decided to doordash from another place to my hotel room and just tab for my beer and leave. I asked for a tab from the bartender, he got distracted and never gave it to me. I eventually flagged someone else down and got them to get it for me. When visiting family, we always make a point to stop here for dinner at least one night. Easy access with plenty of parking. Place decor is to give you a feel of being south of the border. SeTing is plentiful. Deep/tall booths are the primary seating. Food has always been great here. Very large selection and choices on the menu. Staff is always friendly, professional, and energetic. I normally get the fiajits with all the fixings. Son always gets the loaded tacos. Both are always spot on.
