Royston, GA may not be the culinary mecca you may think it is, but there are a handful of tasty spots to check out for a good meal with friends. Our familial group of 10 gathered at El Manzanillo for lunch. The restaurant is really cozy. We sat at the communal table in the middle, but the rest of the restaurant is primarily cozy booths big enough for six people. Not a bad thing when you want to grab a few margaritas. The table was already set with large baskets of chips across the table settings. The salsa was really good, too. I don't necessarily judge a restaurant based on their chips and salsa, but these were pretty telltale of a good meal. For my entree, I ordered the California Burrito with chicken. It was full of flavorful and spiced chicken, rice, beans, guac, and the rest of the the typical fixings. It was a massive burrito, too. It took up the length of the lengthy plate it was served upon. I really enjoyed it all. Though, next time I would ask to have all of the queso on the side instead of atop my burrito. It was really nice to see how caring the staff was, too. My wife and ordered the chile relleno and they came out with beef within and on top. We mentioned to the server that we didn't know theirs would be served with beef, so he took the plate back and brought back a version without beef. They were so nice about it and they totally didn't have to be. Really glad to see this. El Manzanillo has my vote for a meal next time we're in the area visiting family. read more

Great Mexican food. It's not authentic but it's good. The tacos are as close to authentic as you will get here. The service has always been good for us. They have great tasting guacamole and pico de Gallo. It's a little pricey for a small town. Usually about $11 or more per person when you include your drink. There tacos are really good! I always order guacamole and pico with mine. We have been eating here for several years and the food is consistently the same. Some of the staff have been here since the store opened when it was located in front of bi-lo grocery store. Stop by for some good Mexican food if your in the Royston area. It's located inside of the dills grocery store shopping center. read more

The chips are good. Salsa is very bland taste like tomato sauce They have your redneck beers on tap. Coors light bud light miller light etc. Although the drinkers of beer around here are rather heavy...oops The booths are high back so private. The servers are VERY nice. Friendly and easy going The beef enchilada...ouch pretty bad The tamale it is pork and very good. I asked for spicy and loaded this dark brown poop looking sauce and it was spicy heavy and really good. Today the staff was extremely generous with me. I took my family out to eat and the bill was over $50. My husband had left early to get ready for work. My daughter and grandchildren continued with our meal. It was my intention to pay with my debit card but realized I had forgotten it. Stepped to the cashier and asked if they took local checks. Of course, the answer was no. I explained what I had done and then explained to my daughter re: no checks. She left to check her bag for money. Turned back around and the cashier said it is ok -- he had somehow taken care of the excess bill. THANK YOU to the cashier. I use to love going to this restaurant but the past couple of times I have gone has been awful. It takes forever to get your food, the one female waitress will literally ignore you and it seems like every time we go the prices are always different. The water also taste like fish water. Say outside. Waited an hour and a half for our food and finally just left. Watched several groups of people come in ahead of us, eat and leave. Owner never said sorry or anything just "we're busy." The service was good. Waiter was attentive and kept drinks filled. The menu was huge and to me had too many options. The salsa was very bland. Chips were your average run of the mill chips. I ordered a variety platter. The ground beef was very bland and seemed light on the seasoning. Poblano pepper was spicy. The enchilada had some dark brown sauce. Really good Mexican place, large menu and good service. It wasn't too busy due to covid 19 but the servers did a good job of taking the orders and bringing out the food quickly. They have a lunch menu that has a lot of selections at very affordable pricing plus a regular menu with just about anything you would want. Food came out hot and fresh. read more

This is by far a poor choice to eat. I have been there multiple times with my family. We have yet to get all of our food delivered at the same time. Several of us usually have to wait (while our food gets cold) until it is all served. Today there were three of us. One ordered a burrito, one order beef nachos, and a child taco. I had to ask them to get my grandson's taco. No freaking clue. The food has a poor taste as well. read more

Good food, but 1 waiter speaks hardly any english. When we order through him he always agrees with us and says yes to 98% of what we ask, therefore we get the wrong order, even drinks when their reordered are not the same drink. We were reluctant to have him to wait on us again. The food thankfully is usually good even though its not what we ordered when we are served. read more

I have been to quite a few Mexican restaurants in my time. But, this is by far my favorite. You wouldn't know by looking at it from the outside, but this little restaurant is beautifully decorated and extremely clean. But, the best part is the food. I've never even heard of some of the dishes they offer on their menu, but thank goodness for the pictures and descriptions. I ordered the Pollo Arrerio (hope I spelled that right) and it was DELICIOUS. I very much enjoyed my visit and I haven't stopped talking about it since I left. read more

Good food at a very reasonable price! I ordered the 3 taco plate with carne asada and the amount of carne asada was very generous compared to other places I've been. My all time favorite Mexican Restaurant anywhere. The menu itself is nothing special to write home about, pretty standard Mexican menu. But everything they serve is so flavorful. If you eat here DO NOT PAY with debit or credit card. My identy was stolen at this location and the Manager refused to do anything about it. My debit card was charged $1,400 to a doctor's office in Cali, Columbia 2 days after eating at this greasy mexican spoon. I contacted Lisa Taylor (manager) thru a phone call made at the resturant and explained my identy was stolen by one of her employees. She has never contacted me back. read more

I would eat here every week, but we had to stop going because my husband noticed the last few times we went to the cash register to pay we were charged different (higher) amounts than what was printed on the menus. My inclination is to confront them, but my husband would just prefer to never return. read more
