Let's be honest about this place. The doctors are decent -- one of them even great. But, the real detractor is the office staff. I've never met a more surly bunch of people. We stopped going there because of the attitude of the staff -- in particular, a woman in bookkeeping. UPDATE: made it official today and paid for our kids' records transfer. In the "Reason for Transfer" section of the form, I listed the bookkeeper's name. There are many other FANTASTIC doctors in this area with warm and wonderful staffs, such as Clodagh Ryan at Cara Direct Care or Mike DuPont at Family Medical Center if LaGrange. We LOVE La Grange Pediatrics!! The entire office staff is super friendly, our doctor (Dr. Corte) is wonderful, and I can't say enough good things about their website. Nearly every time we've come in our wait has been less than 10 minutes. The ladies at the front desk are always helpful and incredibly friendly. And whenever I've called for advice the nurses I've spoken with are really helpful. They don't just tell you to come in if it's something you can probably take care of at home. I know our copay is only $20, but it's nice to know they're not going to have us come in just to tell us to wait it out, or suggest something they could easily (and usually) do over the phone. It means they're not after my money - they truly are looking after my family. Dr. Corte is wonderful. I have yet to come in for an appointment and feel anything but respected, cared for, and informed. The nursing staff has also been wonderful. No complaints here - they're quick with vaccinations and accommodating to our needs and preferences. It may not seem like a big deal, but a good, navigable website is important these days. The only hiccup I had on their website was initially finding their hours (it's listed under the location button). Everything else is informative and up to date. And I love their symptoms/medicine article finder. List your symptom and they'll bring you to a page with information about what your child may be experiencing. Even better - at the bottom of the page is a chart for when you should be calling them. It's definitely helped this first time mom freak out a little less when my baby is feeling under the weather. I love Dr. MATRAY, Dr. Toomey, and Yasmine, the nurse practitioner. The staff is not the friendliest and is even curt, which is not great, but we are there for the doctors. Hours are convenient (include late afternoons and Saturdays) and the nurses are great whenever I have questions that I need answered over the phone. read more

You only have to read the other reviews about Dr. Kaczor to realise that this is NOT the place to take your baby/child if you want holistic advice from an expert. He is rude, condescending and doesn't listen. It's beyond ridiculous. I've been taking my son to this practice (on recommendation) since he was born and because I was a new parent, I thought this was how all paediatricians behaved. However, my last visit was the worst medical experience EVER. The nurse was rough, the room was dirty and Dr Kaczor's was enormously awful. The only good thing about this place are the front desk staff. But you don't visit a practice for the helpful service at the front of house, you want advice, guidance and expert opinion. I'm going to write to the medical board of Illinois with a formal complaint because it's not fit for medical treatment - it needs investigation and quickly. read more

So, we're trying to setup an appointment for our 1 year old daughter; so we give La Grange Pediatrics a call. The moment we stated asking questions, this "Manager" started referring us to the website for information. My partner then asked about "meet and greets" (we're new to parenthood), the "Manager" again with, "everything you need to know is on the website." I can't understand why you don't want to talk to us, it's was basic question for parents that has never been to your office. Do NOT go to this doctors office. We brought our children there for several years and Dr. Matray is the worst pediatrician ever. He never offered any type of help or guidance for our concerns. I paid $75 to get our children's form released to go to a new pediatrician and after reading the files I could not believe what he had wrote in them. Many things are not true. I'm so sad that I had to change over to a different practice. I was with Dr. Kaczor since my child was born; now 4 years. My child was fine with him, it's just my husband and I were not. We kept going since we thought maybe it would change, but his personality is was it is. The last draw was the 4 year visit. I will not get into details but let's just say I never want to feel bad after a doctor's visit like that again. I'm sure his style might fit some people, but after speaking with another person who recently quit him and other negative reviews, I can honestly say that it is probably not a lot of people. My children moved from Chicago and we have been going to Dr. Kaczor for over three years. We have been very happy with him. He has been helpful and has given us good advice regarding issues like picky eaters, sports safety, and helping our children be more successful at school. When we have seen the other doctors they have been great too. As other reviewers have shared, the nurses are great. Sometimes it hard to have conversations about a child's struggles, but Dr. Kaczor provides help and that's what we want from our doctor. I would give five stars, but sometimes there are long waits (I guess that's true with a lot of doctor's offices though). read more

We just had our first visit to La Grange Pediatrics and I could not have been more happy with our experience! The staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful not only when we arrived, but also throughout the entire process of moving my son's records over from his old pediatrician's office. They were actually friendlier and more helpful than the old office we were seeing. The nursing staff was great with my son while he was weighed and measured and received his vaccinations. And Dr. Rizvi was excellent! She listened to all of my questions and took her time during my son's checkup. It wasn't a rushed experience at all! I dont think the older physicians at this practice really need to keep up to date with with pediatric disorders and conditions. They are not very thorough and don't spend much time trying to diagnose anything but a cold, flu or the good old standby, stomach flu. Been going here for years. Dr. Matray was my pediatrician and now he is my sons. Great office with amazing staff.

We changed our doctor from Kaczor because we really didn't like him at all for far to many reasons too list. The short list is he is condescending, doesn't seem to care about concerns, told us our son needed a DOC band helmet and might need surgery to correct a small indentation in his head (neither of us could notice this before he brought it up) among other things. I'm not sure if he gets commission from the DOC band place for referrals but we got a second opinion and the Dr. said there was absolutely nothing wrong with his head. This turned out to be the truth as my son is now almost 2 and has a perfectly round head. We have seen Dr. Tuma and Dr. Corte and both of them are great doctors. They listen, address concerns, don't push their own beliefs on you, and are great with our kids. I would highly recommend both of these Dr.s and would caution against Kaczor. The nurses are also all very sweet and seem to openly care about every child that comes in there. read more

I saw Dr. Matray from the time I was born until almost age 18. My sister saw him too, as well as other relatives. Dr. Matray witnessed me grow up and helped me get through a countless number of issues, wether big or small, and was always prepared for what I brought up. My first memory of him was when I was getting a shot at age 3, and even though I was screaming he knew how to calm me down and get me a nice sticker for my feat. In my opinion he is an excellent doctor. He has around 35 years of experience and is great at recognizing and diagnosing problems that other doctors might miss. He always was very clear and concise, respectful, and easygoing. When I had a knee issue, he recommended me to a phenomenal orthopedic surgeon, and is the reason i still see him today. I have never had an issue with him in all 18 years. Unfortunately you can't see pediatricians forever, otherwise I'd still be going there today. I should also say that as a child I loved the atmosphere which included the fish tank and books in the waiting area, patient drawings in each room, and again the stickers (or candy) they used to give out. If you are a person looking for a doctors office with no wait times then you will be looking forever, but in my memory I never really had to wait that long. read more

We've been going to LGP since my daughter was born, so about 1.5 years. It's a bit of a hike for us but worth the trip. We see Dr. Kaczor and have seen Dr. Tumma once for a more urgent matter when Dr. K wasn't available. I agree with the other reviews that Dr. Tumma is very warm, down to earth, and has good bedside manner. Dr. Kaczor is more reserved but isn't unpleasant to deal with. But I can see if you're a fan of Dr. Tumma that you may not like his style as much. But in my experience, he's been great with my daughter and making her feel at ease. She seems to like him and never cries when he examines her. My interactions with him have been fine and each visit I feel more comfortable talking to him. I think because he's more on the quiet side and isn't as gregarious as Dr. Tumma, it takes longer to connect. I also like his approach to things as he will make recommendations but isn't pushy about them. I do feel like it's a collaboration. I haven't had to make many phone calls, thankfully, but they are responded to promptly by a nurse or the MD. read more

It is unfortunate to say that I don't recommend this doctor's office and it is due to the administrative staff rather than the doctors! Having a sick child is stressful enough and that stress shouldn't be increased due to incompetent individuals answering the phones and making appointments. More importantly, there shouldn't be any difficulty in making a regular check-up appointment that is months away which is what I experienced. The website makes it seem like the office is very flexible with late hours and Saturday hours. However, when I tried to make a Saturday appointment, I was instructed to call back the following week since the doctor's calendar was not yet available for Saturday. I called for an entire month at the same time each week and was instructed to call back the next week each time. When I finally got instructions to call back in a few hours on my weekly call, I was informed that all the appointments were gone. I finally gave up on a Saturday appointment and made a Wednesday morning appointment for both of my daughters for the same time. I was contacted by admin staff a week before my appointment informing me that I missed an appointment and would be receiving a fee for not showing up. However, I didn't have an appointment for that day. Further, the staff ask you how you would like to be contacted whether by email, home phone or cell phone when you are a new patient. I indicated that I wanted to be contacted by cell phone. However, they called my home phone to confirm the make-believe appointment which is only used as a fax number and indicated that they received a confirmation of my appointment for that day! How can you have confirmation if you don't speak to anyone???? When I informed the lady of my appointment for the next week for both of my daughters, she told me that she saw the appointment in the calendar but it was only for one daughter. She told me that I would have to reschedule to get both girls together (even though I had already scheduled this appointment for both of them to be seen at the same time a month and a half ago!) She did not try to re-arrange the doctor's schedule since it was the incompetency of the admin staff that made the error rather than me, but expected me to re-arrange my work schedule. The individual was rude and not accommodating and never once apologized for the error and inconvenience that the situation was causing. As mentioned before, the idea of having to take your child to a pediatrician for a sick appointment or a immunization appointment is enough in itself without having to add incompentent administration staff to the equation. If you want incompetent staff and staff that are not flexible, then you can ignore my review. But I would rather have a stress free experience when trying to take care of my children's well-being. read more

We loved Dr. Tumma, but they seem to want to charge you for every piece of paper that you ask for. We have moved and I called to get my children's medical records and I was told it would cost $25 dollars each to have them faxed. These are my kids records! Why must I pay for this information when I have paid for visit, shots, etc... This is not the first time, when I needed to have a note signed by the doctor for his school, they charged me for that. I still have close connections to the community and will never recommend them. It's my kids records and all I need was them to fax their last well check up and they want $25 per kid. We have been long time patients of Lagrange Pediatrics. Overall, our experience has been a very positive one. The staff at the front desk and nurses are always very friendly and I appreciate that they take the time to chat both with me and my children. Dr. Tumma is one of most exceptional doctors we have ever had. I never feel rushed and she always explains things in a very clear and non-condescending fashion. And I rarely have to wait more than 10 minutes, which is no small feat given the time she spends listening. I really appreciate that and think it says a lot about how she respects her patients and their time. On the other hand, I feel I need to express my frustration and extreme disappointment with Dr. Kaczor. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, and have accepted many times to see him for sick visits when Dr. Tumma is not available, but each time I leave bewildered by his inability to listen to what we are telling him and the condescending air he takes with us. After our visit today, I have decided I will go to urgent care before I see him again. But once again, 5 stars + for Dr. Tumma and staff! read more
