Great shop. All the staff is very friendly. They take over the phone orders so they have your food ready to pick up. Very clean.

Another reason I love this…read moreplace is because it's not just some mediocre chain with locations everywhere; instead, it's a small local chain with only two locations, one in Barlett and one in Algonquin. Walking in, you see an ice cream counter with plenty of different ice cream flavors. They allow you to sample some of the flavors, and my friends did that, but once I saw the "S'more to Love" flavor of ice cream, I just had to order it. Like any other ice cream shoppe, this one offers different types of cones. They have waffle, sugar, and dipped cones, as well as bowls and waffle bowls. There are plenty of toppings you can choose from, too! For those who are not fans of traditional ice cream, the shoppe has plenty of other menu options: shakes, malts, coffee, popcorn, sundaes, chillers, cotton candy, cannolis, tiramisu, edible cookie dough, and rootbeer floats. Only some ice cream places offer those things, so I like that this place has unique options. When we arrived, they were closing in about 30 minutes; however, the two teenage workers didn't seem to mind and allowed us to take our time with choosing our flavors. They also didn't kick us out as the time got closer to closing time, but we felt bad and left before that anyway. Price-wise, it's comparable to other places: $3.99 for a kids' scoop, $4.99 for one scoop, $6.49 for two scoops, and $7.99 for three scoops. A plain waffle bowl or cone is $1 extra, specialty waffle cones that are dipped and have peanuts are $1.75 extra, and chocolate-dipped waffle cones are $1.50 extra. Cake cones are not extra. Overall, I would definitely come back here, and my friends agreed that they would, too. The ice cream is fresh and delicious, they have many unique options, the service is friendly and quick, and they have a cute seating area.

The girl working was super nice and gave me a generous 1 scoop of the cherry chocolate chip. My friend ordered a sundae. They have some good options for sundaes. I'll be returning when it's warmer out!

You are welcomed to sample any of the flavors and cost is determined by weight of ice cream. Unlike other places, toppings can be added for free after you pay for your ice cream. They had a variety of sauces, candies, sprinkles, and even offered complimentary coffee. I sampled a variety of flavors and really enjoyed the Twix Bar, Marsh-Mallow Smores, Salted Caramel Blondie but ultimately chose the Boston Cream Pie. My only drawback was staff could have been happier, the floors were a bit dirty, and toppings counter was a bit disheveled. They also promote most ice cream flavors as "Howling Ice Cream" but some containers were clearly marked as Haggen-Dazs. Either way, I enjoyed my ice cream and would revisit! Tip: They did have (3) non-dairy ice cream flavors on top of many sorbet flavors.

This establishment sells by weight which isn't clear until they ring you. I'm not sure the ice cream is super premium but I am sure the price is. $8.31 for one scoop is not fair value. I could get a Sunday at Oberweis for that or less and Oberweis is better. This ice cream was a touch too sweet. I could got to 4 stars if they cut the price in half or at least a third.

Gee N Jay's is one of the cheap Americanized Chinese classics. Only has orders to go. The majority of customers wouldn't want to eat inside thankfully. Found out about this after going past it a few times and after that we got curious. It's a pretty crappy looking building that even has a drive thru if you can believe it. This certainly isn't authentic stuff. A typical place with the big pictures of the entrees. They only had a few listed. Also has kiosks. These had the full menu though. It's about $13 for an entree. There's a few okay for vegetarians. I got the Kung Pao Tofu. This is a pretty standard version. Has a pretty good hotness. There's mostly tofu along with a few pieces of baby corn and peppers. Great place to get takeout, because that's the only option of course. It's located on Dundee at Page. They close pretty early in the evenings, and they're closed on Wednesdays.

The chicken was deliciously cooked and seasoned. Orange chicken and General Tso's are advertised as spicy but it does not have a crazy spicy kick at all. The shrimp fried rice was delicious I would definitely order that as its own side in the future. Wontons were boiled and filled with beef and veggies. The platter comes with an egg roll and drink. They also sell desserts like Ice cream, chocolate covered bananas, and funnel cakes! They did ask for payment over the phone which they apparently do after 7pm as they close at 8. Small location located right by los Cómales Elgin. More of a take out spot as it is super small and parking is very limited. Will go back for the jalapeño chicken platter and also family style order of a myriad of items.

Parking was a bit difficult in this part of town. They had an ordering kiosk but one could ring a bell for someone to come over if you'd prefer to pay cash. They offer a variety of topping styles on top of their classic rolled ice cream. The ice cream itself is condensed milk placed on a frozen plate that gets neatly spread out to freeze into its ice cream state. The workers then roll it up and place into a bowl before adding your toppings. It was fun to see and delicious to eat. The ice cream flavors tend to be straight forward chocolate or vanilla since it comes from the condensed milk. Either way, the experience is fun and this is a cute shop.
