Because this restaurant has got the best view of the Lake on this canal, it was always at risk of being a tourist trap. We sat down knowing that the food would probably be mediocre, and the service lacking, but the view Lac d'Annecy and the surrounding mountains was too good to pass up.
That's why I was surprised at the attentive, friendly service we received from our waitress, who spoke passable English. And the salads we had (I had the local specialty) were gigantic and a great value. Because we were only in the French Alps for a short time, I had to try the local specialty tartiflette. I enjoyed it, but with that much cheese, I'm not sure how it could possibly taste bad. My brother's calamari dish was very poor, however--imagine buying Walmart squid rings with a ton of breading and that's how it tasted. But hey, in the end, the view, the location, was great. And the service made us happy in the end. read more
