You wasted the trip to our table to tell us to come collect the drinks at the bar when you could've just brought the drinks to our table in the first place? And the place wasn't busy. Its a dive Irish bar in Annecy, France. We happened to be in the area for work so decided to go here for St. Patrick's Day. Apparently not a big celebration in France. Guinness on tap yes please it tasted like in Ireland, plenty of Jameson available for shots. Food was OK nothing Irish, we had a charcuterie board, fish and chips, salad. At the end they gave us a free Jameson shot because no one ever ordered so much food. read more

Fine place for a drink! After walking around in Annecy for a few hours, I just happened upon this place. The outdoor cobblestone seating with views of the avenue appealed to me. The inside feels very pub-like too, I'm sure it would be enjoyable in the evening. Since weather was dreary, it was not crowded here. I was able to get a seat outside with no neighbors and could watch passerby purchase meats cheeses and wine. I felt like a pretentious artist/writer. Oh wait, I already am. read more

We're hungry and cold. Unfortunately all places in Annecy serve dinner at 7pm, so 1 hour to go. We decided to back track to Captain Pub for some drinks. Hot ones. We sat at a table and ordered a hot chocolate and a tea. The place was really nice and heated unlike L'Estaminet (where we went to dinner). The waitress was attentive and we were able to stay there for an hour just with our measly orders. The place is packed though so gotta get cozy with the French and the tourists. read more

If I could have my own pub I would make sure it looked exactly like Captain pub. This pub is so cute, cozy, and well laid out. I love all the little decorations and adornments and it's the perfect place to escape from the hoards of tourists outside. I love how they serve free crackers and chips with your drinks. Actually, I love how french people always give me free food with my drinks! Anyways, I would definitely come here again even with Captain Peg Leg a.k.a. the moody bartender that works inside. read more

Ambiance is great, Guinness is creamy and French fries delicious! Only wish they had bottles of ketchup opposed to the packets - blew through 10 of those quickly. Wasteful! I like a lot of ketchup when the fries are thick and wedge cut. read more

I came here for a quick tea/ snack on a Monday night. Service was a bit slow; it took sometime for the waiter to come and get our orders. Food (tapas) came quite fast though. We only had tapas, so can't really comment much if the food here is generally good or not. Apparently this place is well recommended by locals. Maybe if I come on different night, it'd be more lively? read more

Came in and were shown to a table inside. Pub was busy but not full. We asked to moved tables to get away from smokers at the adjoining table. Waiter reluctantly agreed. Once seated we had to ask for menus which were almost thrown onto the table. They were soon followed by placemats and water glasses that were again slammed onto the table. At that point we felt we were somehow causing our waiter way too much aggravation. Since he was already obviously stressed over something we decided not to add to his angsts by ordering food. I loved visiting the Captain Pub during my brief stay in Annecy. The servers were VERY helpful, and it was a bonus for us that they spoke a little English. Between my bit of French and their bit of English we got on great and were very satisfied. So satisfied that for a 4 day visit we ate here twice. The servers recognized us the next night and even teased, asking if we'd be back the following night. :) We had their Tartiflette (sans lourdon, or bacon since the BF is pescetarian), Mussels & Frites (La Provencale is amazing!), the Cheeseburger (for me) and their beer and hard cider. We were never disappointed and are looking forward to returning in the future. Oh, and we got a kick out of the American music playing throughout the restaurant. They had a great mix of 80's, hair bands, Classic Rock and Alternative. It was pretty surreal listening to Poison in a small town in France. read more

This place has a great atmosphere and the service is very friendly. We went here for dinner and got the Tartiflette and Fish and Chips. Each came with a side salad with a yummy balsamic dressing. The Tartiflette was creamy feel good food. The fish was great and the sauce for dipping was perfect. The chips were eh. read more

We were looking for somewhere to watch the football game and stumbled on this place. They have a very large beer menu along with good looking food. Since I was in a English style pub I tried the fish and chips. When it comes to Fish in chips it was good to US standards but subpar for English standards. All around a nice place to go. read more

We sat outside with a gorgeous view of the canal, but that's the only thing good about this place. We followed yelpers advice and thought we'd try it. Service was very slow....not sure why.... It was early and the restaurant was not busy. We have been in France for a month now and I'm beginning to think this is the norm. We each ordered risotto with peas and shrimp for €19. The risotto was ok and the shrimp was good, but for €19, you THINK you'd get more than TWO!! They sure get a good profit margin on that meal. Rose was served slightly chilled, and the waitress asked if we'd like ice....we said yes, but none ever came. We will be going elsewhere in the 5 days we have left in Annecy. read more

Attentive service, and burgers are great. Of course they will never beat American burgers, but for this side of Europe, we always come here for the burger and beers. Mussels are also great. read more
