    Chicken empanada (Colombian) interior
    Lena J.

Small bakery with great food and really kind service. Highly recommend the pan de bono and the chicken empanadas. I went with my Venezuelan friend and he was super happy. He said the chicha brought him back to his childhood; they also had papelón con limón available. Prices are extremely low. The items I've tried (in order of most-to-least liked) are: -Pan de bono - delightful texture and sweet flavor (esp when fresh and warm) -Chicken empanada (Colombian style) -Chicken arepa (fried) - personally thought the chicken was dry, but otherwise great (and huge) -Cheese empanada (Venezuelan style) -Masita (w/ cheese) - a bit greasy; this was the only one I thought was just "good" I don't speak Spanish and my friend ordered for us, but the woman behind the counter was extremely friendly and kind. By the way, the hours on Yelp and Google Maps are both incorrect - when I visited they were M-F: 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Sat: 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Sun: 9 a.m.-7 p.m.

Small, unassuming joint in new bruns, serving up comfort Colombian. Street parking. Its one of those brochure menu places, can't find it online and have no idea the actual names of what we ordered. We were clearly noobs with the terminology but staff was patient with answering our questions. She also turned down the tv when we asked and let us hang out for a good hour or so. Thumbs up. They got fruity milkshakes (raspberry confirmed delicious), empanadas, arepas and a whole bunch of others in between. Most of which is deliciously fried, tons of flavor, with a perfect ratio of crispy and chewy mouthfeels. Pan de bono. Cheese bread thats not just cheese bread... its blow your mind chewy cheese bread. In a donut shape. It doesn't look like something that will rock your world but rock it it will. YOU MUST TRY THIS.

Small and quaint hole-in-the-wall in New Brunswick that seems to be fairly well-acquainted with its community. For a Thursday morning, perhaps the waves of customers coming in and out AND the orders piling up are a testament to the quality and familiarity of flavors at this local shop! Only street parking available. The cashier up front was very sweet and spoke English. It was our first time trying Colombian/Venezuelan cuisine but since they were crazy busy, she was in and out of the kitchen helping out. I relied on the recommendations of past Yelpers and we were able to pick out a few things to try: Pan de bono ($1.25) - cheese bread with a hint of sweetness. LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!! Come early because even though we came at 12, we got the last one. Beef Empanadas ($1.50) - very crispy and well-fried on the outside. Pairs well with the tangy hot sauce! Bandeja Paisa Mini ($12) - VERY filling! comes with egg, pork sausage, beef, sweet plaintains, pork belly with skin, and a small arepa Overall, food took a while to come out, but worth the wait! Will definitely be back to try more on the menu!!

Delicious meat arepa, chorizo, cheeze empanada, and pan de bono down there somewhere

Stopped by on a Saturday after Yelp blew up my phone wth how good this place is and they really delivered. Coming from North Jersey, where there are two Colombian bakeries on every block, I really, really missed having Colombian food easily accessible in New Brunswick. The pan de bonos were solid-- nothing special-- and chorizo was very good. They had run out of buñuelos when we got there which is probably a sign they were great. Had a passion fruit shake and it was also wonderful, though how can you mess up passion fruit? But what really blew me away were the Venezuelan staples. The meat arepa was fantastic-- all sorts of unexpected sweetness in the meat seasoning that went perfectly with the cheese and house sauce-- and the cheese empanadas were really wonderful. The bakery is tiny and, despite the owner (?) saying they hadn't officially had a grand opening yet, was full of people. Even though it appeared to have only been open for a week, multiple people there were clearly regulars and had their favorites, but plenty of people walked in without having the first clue what Colombian or Venezuelan food was, and the owner was extremely friendly and patient and happy to recommend food to try for beginners. Food took a little bit of time to come out, which the owner was way too apologetic about, but that also meant everything was made-to-order and delicious. I wouldn't hesitate to come here if you don't speak Spanish - they speak English although I only saw one non-Spanish speaker there while I waited - or because it's a little out of the way of the rest of New Brunswick, it's worth it to not have to drive all the way to Elizabeth or North Bergen for Colombian food. Wishing this restaurant the best of luck and I will definitely be hitting them up for lunch again!

Love this small Columbian/Venezuelan bakery/restaurant! Don't expect too much from its appearance, but don't let the look deceive you... while the small place is more of a small sit in cafe with only 2 small tables and wall mounted tables around with tall bar stools, it packs a delicious if not limited set of dishes straight out of the kitchen right behind the counter. I feel that the restaurant delivers just the right food at the right volume. The pan de bono (delicious round bread with cheesy, chewy insides) from the bakery, to the delicious saucy pepito/sandwich, slightly salty arepa (filled corn muffin), the pechuga de pollo (grilled chicken breast) and the tilapia fillet are superbly cooked and flavorful at all the right level. I have to say that I don't know what they do but the green cilantro sauce is a bit different and more delicious than the less chunky ones found in typical "pollo a la brasa" dishes. Didn't try the more naturally oily fares such as the empanadas though. The prices (as shown in the menu picture) are very reasonable street price, especially given the quality and generous portion of the food. The gentleman behind the counter politely handles all our request including less salt, etc. and offers after-dinner cute small Jet chocolate bars with stickers in them :-) We're glad we tried this small treasure -- highly recommended for a down-to-earth meal in New Brunswick.

Small place with very BIG flavor ! The empanadas are to die for. My favorite; Venezuelan chicken empanadas accompanied with their house creamy sauce. Holy Goodness !! Can't wait to go back.

This bakery has both Colombian and Venezuelan baked goods. They have daily lunches and fresh juices. The breakfast option is written on a daily board so I guess they change it up. Coffee is self serve while you wait for your order. It is a small place and very homey. The owner pretty much greets everybody once they enter and it seems a lot of the clientele know him. It opened up this week (5/10/17) so they are still getting their stuff together but overall good. The owner is Venezuelan and Colombian, thus the mix.

Started out with coconut lemonade and a blood sausage appetizer that came with 2 mini arepas. It was our first time trying blood sausage and we were happy we did! Casing had a nice char and snap to it. Filling was well seasoned and delicious. Arepitas were light, crispy and had a very good sweet corn taste to them. Coconut lemonade was slightly tart which is how I like it and also had a sweet coconut finish to it. I would definitely order it again. For the entree we shared the Parradilla Milina Marinera which came with grilled steak, chicken, pork loin, shrimp and salted fried plantains. We added rice and beans. Grill taste on everything was terrific! Meats were tender and flavorful. Rice and beans were ok. They had free dessert for Mother's Day so my wife ordered chocolate cake which was delicious. It wasn't our first time at Milina and it definitely won't be our last. Servers were very attentive, courteous and accommodating.

I will weep if they ever close down. Their food is divine. Even their rice is somehow incredible. Their meat bursts with flavor and is tender. I don't order off of their menu; they just have a bunch of hot food buffet style and I just request what I want. I always get their rice with black beans on top. Menu items vary by day but these are common items and some of my favorites: chicken leg, beef ribs, yuka fries, and pork ribs. When I introduced this place to my boyfriend, he fell in love too. When I asked what he would do if it ever shut down, he said he would kidnap the ladies working there (joking, of course). But he did say seriously if he knew ahead of time he would be willing to pay for their recipes. The friendliness of service depends on who's serving you, but no one is rude. They're just straight to the point. The inside is always clean - I just never eat in there since I just pile a bunch of food in a takeout container and bring it home for several meals. My boyfriend can finish it in one go if he's starving though. I always get a takeout box to go, and tbh the only downside is I don't know how much it is until they check out. They don't weigh it either, but I'm sure they have some type of formula? A box is usually around $22 BUT that's with A LOT of food stashed in there that I ask for. It's worth it. Another thing is that their soups, while delicious, are overly salted like crazy! So I usually skip that. Or if you really want to try it, you can dilute it with water and reheat it. A hidden gem overall - Must try! Who would've knew a quiet strip mall can hold some of the best food I've ever had.

We ordered two margaritas during happy hour (Monday-Thursday, 11 AM-5 PM) and they were solid, especially at 50% off. The bartender was clearly juggling a lot but still managed to keep the drinks coming and the service pleasant. Unfortunately, the food didn't match the start. After waiting about 30 minutes for our bandeja paisa and already feeling pretty hungry, we ordered beef and chicken empanadas to hold us over. They were flavorful and came out fairly quickly. When our entrées finally arrived, both steaks were cold and overcooked despite requesting medium. The chicharrón lacked seasoning, the rice was cold, and the beans were underwhelming. Overall, the service at the bar was fine, but the long wait and disappointing entrées took away from the experience. At $28 per dish, I expected better quality and temperature. While the discounted cocktails were a plus, the food simply did not justify the price and we probably won't be coming back even though we live nearby.
