Lunch du jour 15 euro Duck in red wine sauce…read more Toasted wheat sandwich with cucumber slices mushroom and thin toasted fish. And a salad. Nice Taste Crispy duck with puréed potato's and a salad. Yes another salad. Duck was falling off the bone and the skin was very crispy. The red sauce was very tasty and well reduced. Cake light and refreshing strawberry and cream and yellowcake. Overall for a quick stop this was very good. Note that a group of about 25 people arrive at one point so this my be a tour stop and so waits might be long but we got there first. Also free street parking and in the lot across the street. But hard to find a spot.

Was a bit surprised because it looked more like a bar from outside, especially with the TV. Got the Menu, had fish. My partner had a great Entrecote. Both cooked perfectly with lots of flavor and lots of nice flavorful stuff on the side. The Entree was really good! The cheese place could have been better (only two types, one old and hard and one soft) and the cake dessert thing was a bit too sweet. I thought the slices of butter in thin triangle shapes were actually cheese on the cheese plate. Took a bite and had to spit it out! Ew. All in all a great restaurant. We went to the winery two days later looking for the wine and they only had 2014--was not as great. Made us even happier we ate there. Just hope I can hold the bottles we bought for two years.

PARFAIT - PERFECT!…read more Here are the bullet points: - I describe this place as THOUGHTFUL - clean! - English translation of menu = bonus - great location - great ambience - music matches mood - very reasonably priced (this restaurant in Paris would be charging 2-3 times the price) - timing between courses was perfect - relaxed and enjoyable but never forgotten about - portions were perfect REVIEW:: This is the place you want to go when in the Dordogne region. This is the perfect blend of fine dining without being pretentious about it. A restaurant like this in Paris would be double if not triple the price. The presentation is a reflection of the flavor: thoughtful and exquisite! Classic French meets modern flavor. Five stars for everything from service, ambience, cleanliness and taste. The portion size and timing of each course was truly perfect and both complimented each other. These people care about what they do and that is reflected in the nuances of this diamond in the rough. There are many restaurants to choose from in the old section of Bergerac, but I think we stumbled…read moreupon the best of them. L'Imparfait is anything but "imperfect". We chose from the menu at 26€ from which you get either a starter and main course or a main and dessert. Before you order, they arrive with bread and a little pot of pate. For my starter I picked the salade Perigord which featured a bed of lettuce and a couple of tomato slices along with a couple of slices of smoked duck breast, a kind of fried pate meat ball (very good), a roll of duck confit in a pot of honey based sauce and creme brûlée that consists of foie gras and mustard which is one of the most amazing things I have ever tasted. My main course was magret de canard, cooked rare but not raw, was hot and not lukewarm and very tender. It had a delicate wine sauce and pureed potatoes on the side. Perfect. My wife had a roll of lotte (a fish fillet rolled up and sprinkled with lardons and peppers). It sat on a bed of white beans and vegetable mousse and she declared it to be incredible. Her dessert was advertised as creme brûlée but when it arrived it also featured a glass of raspberry mousse and a ball of chocolate ice cream on a wafer cup. Two excellent coffees arrived with biscuits and chocolate truffles as extras. This was hands down our best meal in France so far on this trip.

The restaurant is quite charming, and well appointed. There are 3 prix fixe menus to choose from,…read moreand also an a la carte menu. We found the service to be quite attentive, and there's plenty of bread with a compressed herb butter. Offering cocktails and aperitifs, there's an interesting local wine list too. We enjoyed the amuse bouche, and our main dishes were quite nice, but I found my scallops a bit underwhelming. The baba au rhum for dessert was a winner.
