Some tables were picnic style wood with antiques around the restaurant. Mismatched colored water glasses also help create a unique ambiance. We enjoyed beef entrecotte, baby squid & king prawn tempura, and lettuce wrap type dish. Cheesecake dessert was served in mason jars & good. Recommend dining here when visiting Cadiz .

We did not know what to expect, then it turned into our favorite food experience during our entire 15 day Spanish vacation. The Tintio de Veranos were just right(we had them both days) and the croquettes changed daily. Day 1 was chorizo and Sriracha, day 2 was beef. Both were fantastic. Chorizo was our favorite. We had the Vietnamese rolls with deep fried mussels. This was so good we debated getting another one. Day 1 also included their special of the day, a beef taco that was excellent again. Day 2 we had the croquette, and the fried cod with artichoke flower. Light and not heavy. Just the right amount of batter. Then we had the ribs, eat them as a lettuce wrap taco. The meat fell off the bones and the flavor was a sticky Asian bbq. We sat outside at the square both days at mid day and enjoyed watching locals sitting for their lunch and heading home for their siesta.

This spot. Wooheee…read more We actually learned about it from Lonely Planet, Frommer's or some travel book and all the other tourist's know about is well after seeing the lines for to-go. However, I did spy some local old men trying to enjoy their lunch, as well and they were all drinking a beer and eatin' paella. One side is the tavern, with outside seating and the other side is to go fried fish in a paper cone. The to-go side was PACKED, so we snagged a spot at the bar on the other side and quickly ordered up 4 beers, a tapa size of the paella and a fried fish platter for 2. The paella was delicious and the fried fish platter was huge, with chunks of fried fish, whole fish, calamares, cod croquettes and more. I'm not the most adventurous fish eater, and I went for it. Not fancy at all, but just super fresh seafood, breaded and deep fried. Not a ton of flavor in the breading, but all good. All that food for about $20 USD. Not too shabby.

The beer is very good with cheaper price than in big cities. The fried fish is their specialty in Cadiz, we had two plates with different seafood, calamari, prawns, three different kinds of fish, they are good but not great! We love the squid salad! The service is fair, a bit slow because of the crowds!

To dine at a traditional local restaurant set in the heart of classical Spanish shoreside town of…read moreCadiz, where Columbus set sail in search of the new world which forever altered the course of history, was both symbolic and romantic. The narrow cobble stone paved streets and a mixture of mid century buildings along with the iconic renaissance period cathedrals gently guide the patrons into this unseeingly venue; while the facade's hidden in plain sight, the interior is warm and charming with a long marble bar stretches across the entire storefront follow by the main dining section separated by a pair of wooden framed glass doors finished in old-time dark varnish. The similar theme is carried out through the entire dining area: hand painted blue Spanish plates and black-n-white photos hanging on the walls, dark accent wainscoting and lintels supported by corbels accentuate each dividing room while contrasting against the white table linens creating a typical Spanish coastal scenery. The food is equally memorable with main focus on sea food dishes, although the Spaniards couldn't live without their beloved cured ham (Jamón serrano) for each meal, thinly sliced and aged to perfection severed with soft potato lightly seasoned and drizzled with olive oil delivering a well balanced flavor profile. The baked shrimps with sea salt is another constant in the stable though if over cooked makes de-shelling a bit challenging. The roots for Paella extend deep into the traditional Spanish cuisine with mixture of fresh seafoods, blend of spics all absorbed by the rich and creamy rice. The sea salt covered fish was the highlight of the evening: fresh caught whole fish covered entirely by coarse sea salt then baked in oven while being seasoned throughout the process, then filleted and deboned on cart before severing. The service is equally impressive with plate changing in between each course of the meal along with proper paring diner-ware making the dining experience ever more enjoyable in the back drop of the western Spanish coast.
