I tried to post this on TripAdvisor but for whatever reason it wouldn't let me post. First, it's a beautiful spot. Second, the servers were ready to get you a glass of wine and take your orders for tapas. After that?? Peace out. These people wanted nothing else but to clear our table and then ignore us for half an hour as we begged for someone to bring us the check. Some places we have been to in Andalusia have been welcoming, accommodating and hospitable. This isn't one of them. For the money, I definitely do NOT recommend this place. This gem of a restaurant in Arcos de La Frontera is truly excellent. I ordered the goat ribs which was nothing short of spectacular, rich and tender and spiced with an unusual mix that included cumin and cloves. My wife ordered the tuna on the bone. Superb!! The tuna comes the area around Cadiz which is reputed to be the best in the world. It certainly was for us!!! Great food, wonderful service. Highly recommended. read more

We stumbled upon this restaurant and we're so pleased. We ordered the tuna and rice, it was delicious. Bread was warm and the beautiful olive oil they served with it wonderful. Oh and be sure and order the gazpacho soup. read more

Tried the meat kabob. It was very unimpressive--easily my least favorite meal in Cádiz so far (this is my third day here). I could barely finish half of it. The white wine was good. Service was fine, though I speak Spanish (in response to another reviewer who felt ignored as an obvious tourist). Was kind of creeped out by a big cockroach running around, though I tried to not be too bothered since I was sitting outside and hoped it didn't touch the kitchen inside. Another family vocally expressed their disgust, and the waitress promptly crushed it with her heel, then shoved its remains with her shoe under one of the racks. I could still see some of the remains, but again tried to ignore it... I imagine the seafood is better, which is what a lot of the satisfied reviewers here got. I wish I had that instead; this was my first meat meal in Cádiz, as I've been getting vegetables and fish otherwise (and been quite pleased). I was dissuaded by the seafood options since they were more expensive than the kabob, but in retrospect probably worth the few euros more. If you're not interested in the bread roll and hard bread pieces ("pan y picos") that are offered to you without you asking, be sure not to eat them. They are 1.60 euros. Some places seem to charge for them, and some don't. read more

Best meal I had while in Cadiz. Not one euro sign though. The cheapest entree I saw on the menu was 14 euros. Very quality though and worth the money. Most people seemed to do the menus. I did the Andalusian menu and it was great. Included multiple appetizers, wine and dessert. The only complaint I have is that the service seemed unorganized. The wait staff all worked together but there was no primary waiter/waitress for each table. I ordered wine and it did not come. I flagged down another waitress and ordered the same wine and it still never came but showed up on the bill. The waitress who gave the bill had no idea whether the wine came or not because she was moving between multiple tables. Still a good experience. Restaurant is located on a nice quiet side street with no vehicle traffic. read more

A bit disappointed First the positives: pleasant atmosphere, reasonable service, nicely sited. generous portions, reasonable prices, fine house red at 3.50 gratis dessert (for visiting the tourist office...delish...) Why complain? -My wife's seafood soup, looked good, but the fish wasn't fresh and ruined the taste...clams, shrimp etc fine: a shame. -The sauce of her monkfish was slightly burned and bitter ...again ruined a perfectly good piece of fish. - The sauce of my cod (fresh and good sized portion) was less than remarkable. Try the Shrimp Au Gratin in the Shell, the Spinach and Shrimp Lasagne, and The Brick in Bechamel Tapas. You won't be able to eat it all. The portions are generous, the food is delicious and the service is great. read more

Very disappointed with our experience eating El Aljibe. I'm not sure if it was because we were obviously tourists but it felt like the staff took an instant dislike to us. We were ignored on several occasions. It was a real shame as we had enjoyed our first plate of Tapas so much but just felt too uncomfortable to stay. read more

We were a party of seven that stopped in a for late lunch/ early dinner! We had different items - all of them delicious and plentiful! I had the stuffed pheasant breasts that were fantastic. The variety of fresh fish dishes were enjoyed by my companions as well. We finished the meal with some Pedro Ximeniz Cedro Sherry that was outstanding! read more

We walked a short distance from the central square to get away from the tourist trap restaurants and found this place. It is a cozy, snug place with good service. The food is super! My friend and I went for the seafood -- all fresh. Excellently prepared. Not overcooked or ruined, as is the case in many restaurants that offer seafood. Prices were very reasonable. If you can only eat at one spot in Cadiz this is it..gourmet tapas of deer pate,stuffed pheasant,crepes,mmmmm,and lots more,at the same price,as tourist crap at other restaurants. LOVED this restaurant. My husband and I shared the Andalusia menu and the delicious portions were so generous we could just about get through it. The 30 euro price tag included a bottle of fabulous Ribero del Duero wine. The staff were warm and friendly. Highly recommend this restaurant. Try the croquettas... This cute restaurant served excellent tasting tapas along with good wine at a reasonable price. While communication was a little bit of an issue, I wouldn't let that stop you from going. This was one of the best meals I had during my trip to Spain! The atmosphere was nice too, on a quiet street in the Old Town area. read more
