Shoutout to all the traffic today because honestly, I don't think I would have ever discovered this hidden gem otherwise. I was stuck in traffic with a few bookmarked spots saved, so I decided to stop for an early dinner before heading home, and I'm so glad I did. There's street parking with a two-hour limit, plus additional parking in the back. As soon as I walked in, I loved the atmosphere. There's plenty of seating, great music playing, a big TV, beautiful artwork, and such a warm, welcoming energy. I was greeted by a gentleman who just happened to be the owner and Chef! Although I don't speak Spanish and my Spanish isn't the best, we were still able to communicate and he made me feel completely welcomed. I already knew what I wanted from looking at the menu beforehand: the Enmoladas. Mole is something I've only tried once before, about eight years ago on Olvera Street, so getting to experience it again felt like trying it for the first time. I also let the Chef surprise me with a drink. Their drinks and Agua Frescas are made fresh from scratch daily, and you can truly taste the freshness. What made this experience even more special was the nostalgia. Sitting there, listening to the music and taking in the artwork, reminded me of memories of my dad taking me out to eat growing up. It gave me that comforting, "I'm home" feeling, but with a vegan twist! They have both vegan and vegetarian options, but of course I went straight for the vegan option. I was so hungry by the time my food arrived that I completely forgot to take a picture, and by the time I remembered, my plate was basically gone. That alone should tell you how good it was. I also noticed they offer a weekend brunch buffet, which I definitely want to try. If I don't make it back for brunch, I'll absolutely be returning for those Enmoladas. Fresh ingredients. Made-from-scratch food. Beautiful atmosphere. Nostalgic vibes. A welcoming owner/chef. And best of all, a small business that I'm happy to support. Highly recommend checking this place out, you won't regret it! read more
