I have been by El Guapito many, many times. Usually when I go next door to the other establishment. This time I came exclusively to try El Guapito because of the reviews that I read on Yelp. We came for breakfast and I love that they open earlier than most places in the area. As we walked in we were greeted by a super friendly waitress whom welcomed us and made us feel right at home. I ordered Huevos Rancheros and my wife ordered chilaquiles. The presentation was phenomenal. I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into this delicious looking meal. Once I did, it did not disappoint. The food was delicious. My order came with two eggs on a tostada with a very tasty sauce all over them, it included beans and some very tasty potatoes. The final touch was a delicious quesadilla with a corn tortilla folded in half. It reminded me of, "El Tacazo". Excellent Mexican breakfast. The place itself was very clean and nicely decorated. It was inviting and left me wanting to come back. I can't wait to return and try the other things on their menu. Great find and to think that I was so close to it on so many occasions. Food is really good. I had the chilaquiles the first time i ate there. The second time I had the pozole. Both were a good size plates well served, really good flavor and prices are affordable. The cafe the olla is really good and they have refills. Service is great, all servers are really nice, and they ask often if you need anything or refills. The owner is really nice , he makes sure you are well served. Ambience place is colorful, Mexican theme, open, clean. First time at this restaurant. I'm an early riser, so it's hard to find good restaurants open early. This place opens at 8am! Service was excellent. The waitress was attentive and made suggestions. I ordered the chilaquiles rojos and my husband ordered the huevos rancheros. Both dishes were plated with beans, home potatoes, a chile "toreado" AND a quesadilla! My husband's also came with tortillas. First of all, the chilaquiles were crunchy and delicious! The red sauce is tasty and not spicy! The beans taste homemade and NO LARD! The quesadillas are filled with Mexican cheese, tasted like machengo cheese and seriously the tortilla was a little crunchy which made it even nicer with a little crunch. However the star on my plate were the potatoes! And for the record, I'm not a big fan of potatoes. Most places under season or under cook them, but these potatoes are PERFECT! They are covered in a savory tomato base salsa that's rich and peppery. I can't explain it, but please try them when you visit. For drinks we had cafe de olla and a chamomile tea. Food is very good and portions are very generous. El agua de pepino/limon con chia is so fresh and tasty. It doesn't taste machine-ish it tastes freshly hand made. The green chilaquiles were spicy, tasty and satisfying. The pancakes are def better than ihop and dennys. The male server was very nice too. I love that they have GRADE A which means The restaurant is clean, up to code, and free of violations, seeing that makes the place more inviting. If your on a budget or wanting something quick and easy I can recommend this place a thousand percent the staff are so friendly and the restaurant is always clean and the workers make you feel at home and treat you like family. The food is "okay" but is not what the business owner uploaded on images to Yelp. My "desayuno de huevos rancheros" was served looking nothing like pictures on Yelp, it was missing. 2. The service is unacceptably slow and lacking. The place was not packed and only seemed to have one very slow and inattentive server. 3. The tables, chairs, walls and floors could use some attention as it relates to cleanliness. 4. Decided to try this place for the first time ever and I was not happy. Visited on a Tuesday evening and I ordered a Caldo de Pollo (to-go). When I got home, I found out they gave me Caldo de Res;not what I ordered. The kitchen was not busy as I was the only customer in the restaurant so I don't understand how they screwed this up. Absolute gem in the City of Bell. Wife and I had the molcajete with shrimp. Meat, chorizo, cheese, nopal asado, chicken accompanied by salsa refried beans and rice. So perfect. Also tried the chiles rellenos with costillas, boooomb. The taco de pescado wasnt delicious but it was pretty darn good. Doesn't look like much to some when you first walk by, but you never judge a book by its cover. We walked past two other restaurants to get here and I'm so glad we did. Set up on the inside is very nice and you have a nice variety on where you would like to sit. I'm sure they get busy so you won't have a choice all the time but all the tables seem nice. Very nice variety of options on the menu, ranging from simple tacos to extravagant molcajetes. Make sure you remind them about any specific restrictions or order changes! We had cheese on half of what we ordered when we asked for no cheese on everything. Not a big deal for us cause 2 people in our group ate the food that touched the cheese but would definitely be an issue for people with dietary restrictions. Ended up getting the carne asada plate, molcajete and an al pastor sope(was supposed to be asada but we ate it anyway).... Everything was amazing! The flavor and the playing was done so nicely! You can tell it was all house made and not from a can so I loved it even more. I do wish they had a homemade salsa to enjoy in the side. The one they had was a little oily for my taste. The service was top notch! I unfortunately don't speak Spanish but my brother does, so that helped out a lot.
