Stair master OOS for months

another update LA Fitness don't care nothing about its patrons just your membership dues we have 7 stairmasters and 6 are OOS each time you complain it's the same response we put order in it's corporate it's now over a year we have been hearing this STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS . They don't care !!!

Is there a reason there's dim lights? This isn't a romantic dinner.

The parking lot is terrible, let me start off by saying that. You walk in and it looks big. Theres a bunch of racquetball rooms, a big exercise room for classes. But when classes are going on, theres a TINY section that you can stretch in the front of the gym, and another tiny section near the weights. It's ridiculous. There was 2 people on the mat doing their thing, and I had to stretch on the floor. The treadmill needs to be updated BADLY. They had barely any channels, and my headphones are brand new (nothing wrong with them) the sound of the TV made a high pitched sound like it was about to die on me. You wanna know how old the treadmills are? It had the old ipod wire to it. You know, the 1.5" part that you plug into the bottom of the phone. Yeah, enough said. The bathroom had the DIMMEST lighting ever. WHY? The showers were disgusting. How can anyone shower there. I was IN AND OUT of there as fast as possible. Also, the showed curtain was see thru, showed my entire front to the world while showering. So unnecessary. The sauna was so small. It fits only 4 people comfortably - I know this because only that's actually how many people were in there. I could touch the other person beside me. I wanted to try a new LA, but never again here. Hopefully this was the worst one on LI.

I recently started using the Smithtown location of LA Fitness and am quite pleased with all aspects of it. I must commend Employee Jose Lovos who I believe is one of the managers of this location and if he isn't he should be. He always greets me by my sur name and is always happy to assist me with any problem concerning the club I may have. Overall the club is quite good. There is enough free weights, machines, and cardio equipment to keep everyone happy. The place is relatively clean and the sauna and pool always are operational. Friendly crowd and never a problem. I would recommend LA Fitness over New York Sports Club (former member for 20 yrs) who I see are now advertising again. Stay away from NYSC. LA Fitness is one of only several gyms who got through the pandemic. NYSC went bankrupt and was bought by a new company and has very few locations not a proven track record. For the money this Club is your best bet. Good Staff who are respectful and decent equipment that does the job.

I've been attending this location since the grand opening, and I can't say I've had any issues with the location itself. Issues with LA Fitness policy have definitely gotten on my nerves, like the $10/month freeze fee when I'm away at school, but the ability to attend any location across the nation makes LA Fitness well worth the hole it burns in my pocket. I attend the gym every day, sometimes twice a day, so I can definitely say I've gotten to know the staff pretty well, if I didn't already know them from high school, and they're all super sweet and accommodating. My only complaint about employees would be when there's a new personal trainer on staff and I get asked EVERY DAY if I want a free session. But I get over it pretty quickly! Also, don't get too thrown by the stone faced cleaning woman, she does a great job, who cares if she's not smiling, I wouldn't be either! Things are kept pretty clean, sometimes during busy hours things can get a little messy on the weight floor but nothing that bad. My mom always asks how the showers are because I shower there often and I always answer, "cleaner than a college dorm!" So if you've been in a dorm, you'll understand the shower situation is pretty good! Here's my major complaint that has been killing for the last month and a half (or so it feels that long)... THE BROKEN SAUNA. I'm not sure it has as much to do with the location itself as it does the company. I'm paying for the amenity so it's pretty annoying, and I'm not looking to go to one of the other locations just for a sauna, so I really wish they would push to have it fixed ASAP. Overall I recommend this location over Commack or Lake Grove. Its size, cleanliness, and location convenience are awesome. I've been to locations across the east coast, as well as several gyms in the surrounding area and this place is hard to beat!

I attended a Wednesday night hot yoga boot camp class, which was so crowded that people's towels were practically touching each other! The instructor could not walk around for corrections as there was no room between people. This was an exercise class where people were moving around (jumping, etc) and of course sweating a lot as it is hot yoga, and sweat was flying. I was next to a man who was shirtless (all the men were) and it was gross to have a sopping wet person literally inches away. Other places limit the # of people in each class - I highly suggest one of those...

I am writing to express my concerns regarding my recent experiences at Yogaflex studio,…read morespecifically relating to the conduct of instructor/owner Dana. During my classes, I have observed Dana frequently raising her voice at students and managing the class in a manner that feels more akin to running a deli counter than fostering a supportive yoga environment. This approach creates an atmosphere of discomfort rather than one of peace and relaxation, which is essential for yoga practice. Additionally, I have witnessed a teacher putting students on the spot, particularly regarding poses she struggles with herself. This not only undermines the students' confidence but also detracts from the overall experience. Or another teacher yelling at a student for throwing a dirty tissue in a freshly bagged wastebasket. Or once she kicked me into place with her foot instead of physically adjusting me. It was very disrespectful. I saw Dana berate a student for several minutes simply for having the wrong leg in a pose. Even after the student adjusted correctly, Dana continued to criticize them, stating that they shouldn't take her class if they couldn't follow her instructions. This went on and on and on. This level of control and negativity is not conducive to a positive learning environment. After expressing my dissatisfaction with the class, I unfortunately overheard Dana using inappropriate language while walking around the studio, suggesting that students should leave if they have complaints about her teaching style and she doesn't "put up with shit." This response is deeply troubling and does not reflect the supportive community one would hope to find in a yoga studio, which should be a. Safe space for everyone. Maybe the person didn't speak English well? I left the class feeling so angry and upset for the student. My nervous system was completely thrown. I believe constructive feedback is crucial for growth, and I hope this message serves as an opportunity for reflection on the studio's teaching methods and the behavior or the owners. It is vital for students to feel respected and supported in their practice and that yoga instructors be held account for bad behavior in order to provide a safe space for all. As she was leaving the class said she might need to do something else, agreed.

Having already dabbled in Hot/Bikram yoga at Sayville Hot Yoga, I decided it might be time to try…read moreout a new studio in my neck of the woods. I don't profess to be an expert on the subject of yoga so I can only highlight the differences that I noticed and/or what I liked/disliked. Firstly the size of the studio is significantly larger. Bikram has approximately 2.5x the amount of floor space in the hot room, two separate changing rooms, and both side and front facing mirrors. Despite having more space the classes still become packed and prime spots on the floor are taken unless you arrive early. Case in point, I was forced to take the only spot left in the rear near the mens changing room. Supposedly the heat in that section is not that intense and consequently I did not get the dizzy-heat that I had become accustom to in these classes. Speaking of the floor... it's carpeted. I think a room full of people sweating to their max day in and day out should not be carpeted, but that's just me. Unlike in sayville, there is no calm, light music playing throughout class. The instructor's voice is punctuated only be the occasional grunt of someone falling out of a pose. As I mentioned before, I did not experience the same amount of heat that I'm used to. Even when walking on other parts of the floor, the heat did not seem that intense. Also, instruction focused mainly on physical/technical aspects of poses without much mention of a spiritual aspect. Overall I felt more like I was working out than attaining a higher state of consciousness. The prices are reasonable at $12 for a drop in class and several other packages like $99 for 10 classes. The location is pretty convenient, right on 25a at the end of Nichols Rd. These factors will most likely be the main motivation for me going back. If you're a new yogi or yogini and you live in the area you may just want to stop by and see what hot yoga is like and if it's for you or not. Minor annoyance: I didn't like looking at the water stain on the ceiling every time I went into savasana. Tip: Show up early like they tell you to.
