I was next to a man who was shirtless (all the men were) and it was gross to have a sopping wet person literally inches away. During my classes, I have observed Dana frequently raising her voice at students and managing the class in a manner that feels more akin to running a deli counter than fostering a supportive yoga environment. This approach creates an atmosphere of discomfort rather than one of peace and relaxation, which is essential for yoga practice. Additionally, I have witnessed a teacher putting students on the spot, particularly regarding poses she struggles with herself. This not only undermines the students' confidence but also detracts from the overall experience. Or another teacher yelling at a student for throwing a dirty tissue in a freshly bagged wastebasket. Or once she kicked me into place with her foot instead of physically adjusting me. It was very disrespectful. I saw Dana berate a student for several minutes simply for having the wrong leg in a pose. Even after the student adjusted correctly, Dana continued to criticize them, stating that they shouldn't take her class if they couldn't follow her instructions. This went on and on and on. This level of control and negativity is not conducive to a positive learning environment. After expressing my dissatisfaction with the class, I unfortunately overheard Dana using inappropriate language while walking around the studio, suggesting that students should leave if they have complaints about her teaching style and she doesn't "put up with shit." This response is deeply troubling and does not reflect the supportive community one would hope to find in a yoga studio, which should be a. Safe space for everyone. Maybe the person didn't speak English well? I left the class feeling so angry and upset for the student. My nervous system was completely thrown. I believe constructive feedback is crucial for growth, and I hope this message serves as an opportunity for reflection on the studio's teaching methods and the behavior or the owners. It is vital for students to feel respected and supported in their practice and that yoga instructors be held account for bad behavior in order to provide a safe space for all. That didn't make any sense to me. I was genuine and just wanted to cancel, happy to pay full price for what I had taken. They just wanted my money. The woman I spoke with, very kindly, explained she had mentioned this after the intro class and made sure everyone heard. I admit she probably did! And I must admit there is a lot happening during and after class. My attention at the time was focused on moving through the room to collect my things and leave for the day. My attention was not on her at the time. I decided they can keep my money since I guess they need it more than I do, and I stuck with the classes. With that being said, in the same vein of that disappointing experience, I must say these are FANTASTIC CLASSES and why I've rated 5 star! The women are knowledgeable with their adjustments and assisting the movements, their queuing is specific, the classes are always tough and great for toning/muscle building. The facility is clean and set up nicely. The front desk staff are sometimes instructors too, and like what they do. Another weird money issue I had with them is midway through my few months contract, I had to freeze my account and sent an email to staff. They got back to me quickly, which was helpful, saying that'd be fine and there's a $15 fee for that. I understood, yet it is frustrating as a person who's already paying a good sum of $ for their classes. I know it's corporate to do things like this - have contracts, charge fees, and have lots of disclosures. And I know Pure Barre isn't the only one doing this, it's just discouraging that in order for me to get a good work out it's SO expensive! Overall, my experience with Pure Barre is a toss up. They also lend you a watch while your watch is charging without charging you! It's so sad the new hires this manager chose and her unfriendly attitude. As for the coaches here freaken amazing best coaches out of all the orange theory's. Head coach Giro is one of a kind and is always happy, Motivating and cheerful. Giro is a very gifted leader. Coach Gianna is so inspiring and just a knows how to get you pumped up. Love her! There is Emily who will always go out of her way to ask you how you're feeling and Jess who is a bubbly breath of fresh air. Jackie who I just love as well. I would have given this place 5 stars but unfortunately I hate going here now that the front desk has changed for the worst. The instructors (Tattiana and Giovanna in particular) are warm, welcoming and super professional, no matter what walk of life you're coming from you'll feel comfortable. Classes are small, I would say average 7 people, but most times less, which allows you to get more individual attention. The barre classes are really what I love about Gold Coast. I was a little intimidated going into the first one, having no dance background and little pilates background. But it was nothing to be intimidated by. Don't get me wrong its hard work and you definitely feel the burn but its totally do able. Within the first two weeks I started to feel changes as far as muscle; I haven't lost any weight from it yet (a little over a month in) but I definitely feel a lot stronger and can do the moves for a lot longer. Pilates studios in general tend to be a little expensive but they offer packages that make it a little easier on your wallet. They also offer a package of 3 classes for $30 for new members which I would totally recommend to try the classes out. You have to go more then just once to give it a fair chance!

The studio is also bright and clean and I was welcomed in by the owner who was friendly and helpful. While other studios let you take reformer class barefoot, they are very strict about their sock policy. My first class I came without since other studios I've never been to a studio with this requirement. Be sure to come prepared with your own or to purchase at the front desk.

I have taken 53 classes so far. and I am seeing the transformation in my body and in my strength. I never would have thought it possible. Not only have I changed physically, but it has helped tremendously with my balance and coordination. There are master instructors like Banu, who are encouraging and will watch you very carefully, to make sure that you are being safe and engaging in the exercise properly. She has been a great strength in my Pilates journey. I have learned so much from her, and you will find me in her classes. I am also very happy with the variety of classes that are offered. I frequently use Bayport, Lake Grove, and Miller Place studios to meet my needs and feel the same enthusiasm for all three locations.

If I tried regular yoga, I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to get up off the floor so chair yoga is my go to choice.
