If I could leave zero stars, I would. As a loyal member of LA Fitness for over sixteen years, I write this complaint with a heavy sense of betrayal, frustration, and emotional distress after enduring one of the most appalling cases of prolonged consumer mistreatment and corporate negligence I have ever experienced. What began in 2008 as a personal investment in my physical and mental well-being has gradually deteriorated into an unrelenting nightmare of fraudulent billing practices, unethical conduct, and deeply humiliating experiences inflicted by this location's staff and management. Over the years, I made extraordinary efforts--financially, physically, and emotionally--to maintain my membership despite the fact that the quality of the facility has sharply declined while the cost of membership has inexplicably ballooned. I was subjected to overpriced initiation fees, unreasonable monthly charges, and unjustified annual renewal costs, all while amenities I was promised and paid for have either been removed entirely or are perpetually inaccessible. The removal of racquetball courts, cancellation of group fitness classes, and downgraded or non-operational equipment all signal a steady erosion of value. But what I find most egregious is the fact that the pool--another essential amenity that my dues cover--is being regularly rented out to a third-party swim school for children's lessons, making it unavailable to paying members like myself. I have made multiple attempts to access the pool, only to find it consistently occupied with private lessons. This is not only a breach of our membership agreement, but a blatant disregard for those of us who rely on these services for rehabilitation, stress relief, and general health. The equipment that remains on-site is severely outdated and deteriorating, often in unsafe or unsanitary condition. The environment reeks of neglect and mismanagement. Maintenance requests are ignored, and the overall atmosphere has become chaotic and unwelcoming. Meanwhile, the staff--most of whom demonstrate a revolving-door employment model--lack the experience, professionalism, and courtesy required to operate such a facility. On the rare occasion that someone is available to assist, they are often untrained or unwilling to provide even basic support. The final straw was the public shaming and humiliation I suffered after my credit card expired--a simple issue that could have been resolved with discretion and respect. Instead, I was berated in front of other members, treated as though I were attempting to steal services rather than being recognized as someone who had given over a decade and a half of loyalty. The emotional toll of this mistreatment was severe, triggering mental anguish that ultimately forced me to freeze my membership temporarily. When I courageously attempted to resolve the matter and reinstate my access, I encountered a new ordeal: three different billing quotes from three separate employees over the course of just a few days--$104.99, then $138.02, and finally $320.09. Each time I asked for an itemized invoice or account history, I was denied both a printed and digital copy. I even asked to photograph the billing screen for my own records--also denied. These actions clearly suggest a deliberate effort to obscure charges, manipulate billing, and exploit loyal members. The high turnover, lack of competent leadership, and absence of consumer protections at this location signal systemic and possibly legally actionable problems. The conduct I've witnessed--both in how amenities are falsely advertised and how members are mistreated--qualifies as misrepresentation, negligence, and possibly violations of civil and consumer rights statutes. I now understand why LA Fitness is facing multiple class action lawsuits regarding deceptive billing and unlawful business practices. My experience fits squarely within the criteria for legal escalation. As of this writing, I will never return to this location--or any LA Fitness--unless it is to witness its long-overdue closure. Management should be held accountable, and corporate must answer for the toxic culture of abuse, incompetence, and deceit they allow to persist. Until that day comes, I will continue to share my experience and warn every potential member of what truly awaits behind their slick marketing and hollow promises: a contract built on deception, dysfunction, and disregard for human dignity. read more

I have paid over $400 in advance for only 3 months!! Any other la fitness with a pool is 30-40 minutes drive. Spoke to the manager, no refund and nothing they can do! Can you believe it??? I have been told by the staff today they are closing March 8 2026 and yet three months ago they signed me up. What crooks. read more

Absolutely the worst membership experience EVER! The gym itself is decent. The people working will try to sell you everything then tell you your membership has changed or doesn't include "x,y,z"...I was overbilled and had to get that resolved. Still tried to stay and was denied taking my guest in - even though you can clearly send anyone A "VIP pass" through the app. It's simply their sales tactic. It's the closest gym to my home and it's literally been embarrassing...they've sent my son away multiple Times and what was meant to be a healthy, relaxing experience...complete stress for me and missed time with my kid. Cancelling ALL memberships for Our family. Staff is not helpful at resolving and will tell you they have access to no files...If zero stars was a thing. Bathrooms are always nasty, and mostly because of members that treat it like a dump. Crazy to think that grown adults are trashing the place, not cleaning after themselves , or simply discarding trash on the counters and sinks. Sometimes you can find fecal matters straight on the floor. How does that happen? Who knows. Biggest complaint; every summer the AC is broken. It's more humid in there than outside. read more

The gym is clean and with older if fairly well maintained equipment. They also offer a variety of classes. Do not try to utilize the basketball court, the AC has been out for months with seemingly no plans to repair. This gym has the dirtiest locker room and bathrooms of any LA Fitness I have ever been to. We just lived to the area and we are very dissatisfied with this location. Also yesterday Saturday June 10th the gym opened about 20 minutes late. There was about 40 people waiting for the guy to show up and open the gym. I only have about 45 minutes to work out on Saturday since I have to be at work early on Saturday. So this seemingly minor issue has a huge impact on my day. I have the OnePass through my Employer which allows me membership to different fitness locations as well as online. I was impressed how welcoming, easy, and efficient the intake process was at this location. Love that they have Racquetball courts and equipment available to play with. Two stories of gym equipment, personal training, group classes, swimming pool, hot tub and sauna. You can start or end your day with a nutritious snack or smoothie. We were a little bummed out that the sauna and spa were out of service but the pool was open, most importantly, nice and clean. The equipment cleanliness practice seems to be in place at this location however on this trip, we didn't utilize them. Friendly staff and safe environment. Plenty of parking and well lit parking area. Overall pretty clean too! Looking forward to returning. read more

Upon entering La Fitness....one is bombarded by huge display of autographed memorability from numerous pro jocks and celebs! ***Which has ZERO to do with this old, antiquated, dirty fitness center.*** In my eyes, my ONLY reason to attend is to avoid the crowds at Crunch and other area gyms I train at. Decent machines....however ZERO 35 lb. plates? And old, stinky and dirty lockerooms. Front desk staff appear to be hamstrung by corporate decisions---like the "money grabbing" auction of the afore mentioned memorability. (Was told "no charities" would benefit from these sales!) Come on LA Shitne*s .....your joint is a dump! Renovate! Update! Clean! Maybe the b-ball court...the pool....the racquetball courts give you a feeling of entitlement? I love this gym. The staff is always, always kind when greeting me at the door and I absolutely love how there are sanitizing bottles on a table for equipment if you're concerned with how clean/sanitary it is. Pst there is also hand sanitizer. Rico is an amazing personal trainer and has helped me become more confident in the gym daily! I can go by myself now and feel comfortable choosing the equipment I want to work with to achieve the workout I'm looking for. I'm forever grateful that my boyfriend and I gained rico as a trainer. When it gets crowded, you have to be patient and adjust your workout if equipment is taken but it's like that at every gym with as much equipment as LA has. When you're doing a personal training session it is annoying when others enter the personal training area because in the blink of an eye you won't have the equipment to work with your trainer so I'm glad they reserve the area for those who pay extra to go there for their scheduled allotted time. When it's slow LA really doesn't care but when it's crowded they take note and I love it. Keep up the great work LA. read more

This LA fitness is one of the larger ones in the area. They have a full basketball court, a pool, a cardio area upstairs, a private training area, practice rooms, and a classroom as well as weights and machines. However, the gym equipment is all very crowded together. The free weight area feels like you are standing right on top of each other and seems a little claustrophobic when there are many people there. My second complaint would be the the staff seems to be more interested in their phones than in actually helping clients. I know, i know, Instagram is so interesting and work is such a drag, but hey, we all gotta do it. And lastly, the bathrooms in the women's locker room look like one of those gas stations you stop at during a long road trip through Mississippi. You know the ones that haven't been cleaned in a year or so, but there's no bathroom for miles so you just have to do it? Yeah. It's like that. You'd think with all the money these gyms bring in with their expensive monthly memberships they could afford to upgrade the bathrooms! My only positive thing i have to say about this gym is that I've never seen it extremely crowded, so you can get your workout done pretty efficiently. Just don't use the bathroom. Cant even get a lasting guest pass with your 50 dollar a month membership... outrageous...They just want your money. So many nicer gyms in the area that are 100x nicer and half the cost. Try eos fitness. Locker rooms and bathrooms are so disgusting...workers should be worried about cleaning those instead of giving customers a hard time and playing on their phones. No personality, not accommodating, more concerned with themselves then the customer. There are tons of places to get a much less expensive workout. My experience can be summarized in one word...name? - SHARON. - Hope I spelled that right. She is the club opener. I am part of the 5am crew and frankly just visiting here during thanksgiving holiday. As an early bird I can appreciate someone who is on time and welcoming at such early hours. - I've never really had a "good" experience at an LA Fitness and I know plenty on how to operate a gym as I managed health clubs and been in the industry for over 10 years. - It's always true that your experience is dependent on who is working the front line. Sharon made the difference. Took care of my guest pass, pointed where everything was... learned my name... even checked in to see how my Thanksgiving was. 5 stars only because of her. - Besides that... the club has plenty of equipment. Problem is there has been no operations manager. I call their corporate office and I get a series of recordings. I have sent emails and left voicemails. No luck. Anyone can sign a member up. I've been lifting consistently for 6 years now and I recently moved, and since LA was closer to me than YouFit, I joined. Some of the 1 star reviews bring up some great points: the staff don't interact, the bathrooms smell, it's busy, etc. But it's a gym... Do your feet stick to floors when you walk in? Absolutely. Do the bathrooms smell like urine? Yes. Does the whole gym smell like urine? ...sometimes. But at the end of the day, I'm not there to interact with staff members that may or may not be friendly. Nor do I expect the benches, weights, or machine I need to be immediately available for me. There's a chance I might have to wait for someone to finish before I can use them. That happens sometimes. No big deal. I go in, I complete my workout, and I leave. I lift 5-6 days a week and I would say that I see the same faces in this place about 80% of the time. For the most part, people are courteous and clean up after themselves. If you're a lifter, it's a 5 star gym. If you're there for the social interaction, and you want a gym that smells like Fabuloso, this isn't the gym for you. read more

I've been a member of this gym for about 2 years. This is the only location of this chain that I like to frequent based on its location and equipment. I have visited other locations of this chain that were either in great disrepair or way too packed. This location, however, has become very crowded whether you go at 5am or 5pm or anytime in between. Most of this is due to their takeover of Ballys and Lifestyles and closing those locations, forcing everyone to congregate here. This place just went through what it called a "remodel" that basically meant new flooring and wall paint, plus 10 new recumbent bike in a gym where the average member age is about 25 -- and other upgrades on cardio equipment. The most popular stairclimbers--still creaking with broken fans--are now stuck in the middle of the gym floor. I can deal with most of this, but the fact that someone posted about 6 of these with scotch tape all over the ONE room where you can actually do a plank or use an ab ball sealed the deal for me to join another gym. The church that I go to is located on Van Dyke road, so I've gone to this location a few times after the AM service. The facility is in great condition and the staff extremely nice and helpful. The equipment are clean and the facilities very clean. The locker rooms are very well maintained as well as the pool. I do wish the showers were cared for a little more. I prepaid for two months of membership at this branch of LA Fitness. The sales person did not disclose to me their child care hours, which are not the same as their operating hours. They are closed for 4 hours during the afternoon. Also a piece of weight equipment I use was broken during my entire first month of membership. I brought it to the staff's attention many times, but a replacement was never provided. I brought these issues to the sales staff. They were indifferent and promised follow-up which never came. I eventually spoke to the club's operations director, Darin, who was also indifferent. He claimed that the weight equipment was on order, and didn't know when it would be available. I asked to cancel my membership, and he refused to refund me for the upcoming month of membership I had prepaid. I am having to file a dispute with my credit card company. I would avoid this place. Despite signs everywhere that the staff are helpful and there to serve the members, my experience was the complete opposite. I only encountered dummies who couldn't address simple issues, and acted like they were bothering you whenever you asked a question. No smiles. There are several other good options nearby, including YouFit, Punch Fitness, Anytime Fitness and the Bob Sierra YMCA. read more

Comparing to my main location at Gunn Hwy, this LA Fitness is a 5 star, comparing to other gyms I used to go, they are average... So, the space is great, there are a lot of more parking spots than the Gunn location. Inside, the space is bigger (open floor with a half second floor for the cardio equipments). I like how open it is and how the ac is always working. They have a big inside pool. The sauna works most of the time, the bathrooms are usually clean (mornings) and the staff is friendly. I never used of their personal trainer or child care services, so I can't rate that. But my overall experience is very nice. I like to work out and run by myself and I can actually get that accomplished there. If you are looking for some an affordable fitness center, I will definitely recommend this LA Fitness. read more

If it weren't for Ravana's Zumba classes, I would leave this gym in a heartbeat. It's over priced for mediocre machines and a dirty club. There are literally tumble weeds of hair rolling across the floor in the dance room. The kid's club staff is greats however, the director Michelle is horrid. She is rude and has no people skills. I had the worst encounter with her today and she degraded me as a person and spoke down to me and raised her voice at me in front of other members as they were checking in. I'm just disgusted with the way she spoke to me, I have been a loyal paying member for 3 years and she sees me in there several times a week. I'm appalled. read more

Better than your average LA Fitness center because of the size which means most often than not, you won't be waiting for machines to become available. This center also has a basketball court, multiple racquetball courts and a swimming pool. The group classes are fun and engaging. This gym could be laid out much better. The layout doesn't make any sense. There's things in the "personal training" area that aren't in the whole gym so they aren't accessible if you're not using a personal trainer. They sometimes block the entrance so people don't go in there. I personally still go in there to workout though, as do a lot of other people. The area designated for people to do workouts like abs or HIIT is roped off under the stairs and extremely small and cramped. Now one of the BIGGEST things I hate about this gym is the bathroom cleanliness. I just don't understand how disgusting they keep the stalls. The locker area is okay, but the toilets are absolutely disgusting. And it might not even be at the fault of the janitors because those toilets (and stall doors) look stained, old and worn out. This gym really needs to step up and invest in these things because they matter just as much as the workout equipment (which honestly, a lot of the machines need to be replaced as well). For the price LA charges for memberships, and being as big of a corporation as it is, this gym could use a lot of work. read more

This isn't even close to the best facility I've ever belonged to, but it gets the job done and it's close to my home. I do wish they had sanitizing wipes located throughout the gym as opposed to the paper towels and soap-dispenser type sanitizer they offer sparingly throughout the facility. I am diligent about cleaning the machines before and after use, but I know others are not. I also wish the staff would enforce the "No longer than 20 minutes on cardio equipment while others are waiting." I've waited upward of 30 minutes for a Precor elliptical on more than one occasion and found it extremely frustrating and rude on the part of the other members who could tell I was waiting and continued their 45 minute + cardio workouts The price is right for what you get which I really appreciate. My mother had a very disturbing experience here. She was on her first set on a machine and was verbally attacked and harassed by a man who thought she was taking too long. My dad walked over and the man turned and started threatening and cussing him out. Management was there AND DID NOTHING. When my parents complained, manager said that it was simply a misunderstanding. My mom is too scared to go back now and will probably be canceling her membership (if they let her). They also don't have security cameras anywhere in the building which is honestly pretty ridiculous. read more
