Looks like a brand new location in the space of the old Sports Authority in Brick Plaza. Plenty of parking - Gym is brand spanking new. Every piece of equipment is new - all TV's functioning on Cardio Equipment - weights seem to be replaced by conscience patrons every amenity that you could possibly need. Did not visit the pool area - but showers and bathrooms brand new everything modern and clean. As far as LA Fitness locations go, understanding this one is new for right now no better option in the area as far as I'm concerned. read more

I've been a member of LA Fitness for a while, but my recent experience at the Brick location left me seriously disappointed--specifically because of how the manager, Rodney, handled a simple situation. I accidentally dropped my car keys (which also have my house keys) inside one of the StairMaster machines. I went to the front desk for help. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the front desk employee's name, but I'm pretty sure he's new since I've been a member for a long time and I haven't seen him before. Still, he genuinely tried to help and admitted he wasn't familiar with how to open the machine. He then escalated the issue to the manager. The moment Rodney spoke to me; his tone immediately made it seem like the whole situation was my fault. Without even coming out to look at the machine or assess anything, he confidently told me I'd have to wait a week until their technician was available. No attempt to understand the situation, no empathy, no effort--just "come back in a week." At that point, I realized I wasn't going to get any real help, so I started searching up ways to disassemble the machine myself. Then, out of nowhere, Rodney suddenly walked over and switched to this overly polite tone--as if he had just realized how unprofessional he sounded earlier. It felt insincere and honestly frustrating. The lack of professionalism, empathy, and basic problem-solving from the manager was shocking. The front desk staffer was more helpful than the person who's supposed to be leading the location. LA Fitness, please train your managers better. Customers shouldn't be treated like an inconvenience--especially when they need help with something that happened inside your facility. read more

Terrible maintenance in this place. Literally 50% of the machines that have plastic or rubber grips are torn. The hard edges dig into your hands when doing the movements. This is such an easy inexpensive fix that they've just been ignoring. I've been bringing it up to the front desk for nearly a year! read more

I have been a member to quite a few gyms over the years, and this gym is one of the most poorly maintained gyms that I have ever been a member of, despite it by far being the most expensive. This is all the more disappointing because it is new. None of the staff do anything to maintain the building throughout the day. There is no maintenance or cleaning whatsoever. Evidence of this is seen in things that should be fairly routine. For example, the water dispenser filter is bad and needs to be changed, and it has been ever since I joined. I don't think changing a water filter is too much to ask for $50.00 a month membership fee. There are also no disinfectant sprays provided to wipe down equipment. Hand sanitizer is provided, but this is entirely inconvenient for wiping down equipment. At any given time, several pieces of machinery are non-operational. While I understand machines break, maintenance and repairs are not scheduled for several months or more. Approximately 30% of the cardio machines are non-operational. Some machines have had their weight indication stickers ripped off. While it should be easy enough to replace a sticker, instead, this location decided it is sufficient to write in the weight indicator with some kind of handwritten chalk. There are also several knobs missing on the lockers in the locker rooms. The place is also dirty (especially the locker rooms) and full of trash. If there was any semblance of maintenance, these issues wouldn't exist. I was a member of several other gyms that charge $20 dollars a month, and all were better maintained. I hate to give bad reviews but here goes. I was provoked to write this because there is at a minimum 15 cardio machines not working. That's more than I've ever seen but come on. The ladies bathroom always dirty, so never with toilet paper. The floor in the gym is dirty. There is so much dust around the equipment, I'm afraid to put my bag down. The class instructors are mediocre. Spin classes are okay but the cardio instructors poor especially Saturday morning. Then there is this"training" area you can't use unless you pay extra. Equipment I want to use that's not available in the rest of the gym. Why isn't that same equipment available for everyone? I don't need a trainer. Look around before joining. read more

Exercise equipment is good....standard gym fare. Child sitting service provided for moms on the go. The staff is friendly and personable. Basketball court is awesome! Locker rooms, sauna, showers, restrooms, hot tub, and even water fountains are in poor to unsanitary conditions. The one cleaning attendant apparently can't keep up with the soil and trash generated. Urinals are broken for weeks without repair, water fountains out of service for months, the hot tub/spa is basically an unheated bathtub, and the sauna is a petri dish since it's rarely cleaned and sanitized. ​ Shower curtains are beginning to show signs of black mold. This place needs a thorough cleaning to be safe for it's clients. And, maybe some signage asking members to clean up after themselves so everyone can enjoy the club. read more

Decent gym. Can get crowded but what gym doesn't? Not filthy but not impeccably clean either. That could be from one of their cleaning guys (gray beard) being absolutely miserable and unfriendly, unless you are a decent looking female. But, then he cleans even less because he stops working and talks for minutes and minutes on end. Actually entertaining to watch the female(s) roll their eyes and pray for death just to get him to leave them alone. New management seems to be better than old. Child care is good. Still have issues with broken machines but they are getting better with fixing them. read more

It's unfortunate I have been a member of LA fitness since about 2010 I don't understand why they let children run the show here. The area pool is absolutely unacceptable. I don't think they even mop around the pool ever the floor was absolutely black yesterday. I pay to belong to a gym that has the amenities that I need to complete my workouts and keep myself fit and healthy. The pool is a very important part of my workout routine and the hot tub is a nice amenity too, especially when I'm very sore or worked out really hard and my body hurts. The condition of the pool and the hot tub have been unacceptable since this location has opened. Yesterday (January 10, 2022) I went to go for a swim not only was the pool too cold but it was disgustingly cloudy. The hot tub was worse, the tub didn't have enough water in it so the skimmer doesn't work AT ALL and it was filled with DIRTY foam and WAY OVER chlorinated. It is not rocket science to take care of a pool or a hot tub but it shows that the people that work here generally don't know how to take care of pool chemicals PROPERLY or they genuinely don't care. This gym is becoming more dilapidated by the minute yeah it was just built two or three years ago the saunas have BARE floorS it's just concrete NO FLOOR COVERING. The wooden benches that you sit ON in the sauna ARE rickety missing wood planks. Someone will get really hurt and Sue but it seems like LA fitness doesn't give a HOOT!! Last my key fob has been dilapidated and falling apart for two years now but yet they don't have new key fabs to replace my tattered old one. Get it together LA fitness. I will be writing a letter with pictures to corporate, because why not! I pay way too much to deal with this garbage. I am a complete gym and work out enthusiast. I love working out with all my life. I was working out at Retro Fitness in Brick until they suddenly closed. I joined LaFitness in Brick because of the location. I'm always in this area, and it's easy and quick to get to. The staff was very welcoming when I signed up, and explained all the memberships they have. LaFitness is more pricey than Retro Fitness or Planet Fitness, but they have a lot more to offer than the average gym. All I need is to work out on my own, and the hot tub and pool are definitely a plus for me. It does get busy there at times, but I make I work outs flexible to how busy the gym is at the time I'm there. Just keep an eye for when a machines opens up. read more

I had high hopes for this new gym. I was shocked & won't return. There is NO social Distancing practiced here. Staff is without masks. No spray bottles to clean machines. No distance between aerobic machines like treadmills or ellipticals.. No 6 foot distance between spinning bikes ! I have been very Happy with LA fitness in Brick The Sauna and lockerroom are great and always clean Zeynab 's Mat Pilates on Sunday mornings is my favorite , she is an outstanding instructor. The class is usually packed I recommend getting there early. I also like the Thursday evening Yoga class just the right amount not to hard not too easy I have been disappointed recently with a few things : the whirlpool tub does not seem to be working as well as it did in January and quite a few machines around the gym are not working . ( bikes, rowing machines, ellipticals) I hope this gets fixed soon. I have limited time at the gym and I go with a friend we have had a hard time finding 2 machines together due to machines being out of order. read more

I've been a member here since this location first opened, and at this point I'm on the brink of canceling. This place has gone severely downhill seemingly since they reopened after the pandemic. There's a clear lack of care and lack of pride. They're perfectly content to leave the floors and equipment dirty and dusty. When soap, paper towels, etc. run out, they're incredibly slow to refill. Finally, and the absolute most glaring issue... THEY DONT FIX BROKEN EQUIPMENT!!! I am not exaggerating when I say there are more treadmills out of commission than working at the moment. The "scheduled for service" paper taped onto the machines is a joke. The ab crunch machine has had a broken seat they have left alone for months, maybe even a year. The pad on the leg extension ripped and is being covered up with a mat wrapped around it with tape. There's a sink in the mens room that hasn't been working for a while. I can go on. It's an embarrassment. At least act like you give a crap about the members. read more

We LOVED going to LA. Loved our trainer, Frank. We had to stop going as they REFUSED to work with us after I was injured, was out of work, and couldn't afford to pay the personal training price for 2 months. I had mentioned I wanted to pause and extend the contract, not cancel. Called the customer service line after the gym told me they couldn't do anything. Customer service line said "well you can't just not pay your car payment for 2 months and expect them to not repossess your car" No, but my car lender WILL work with me ESPECIALLY since I have a doctors note PROVING i had a ligament injury and COULD NOT work to provide income. I told the man on the phone, it was either feeding myself or paying the $600 personal training fee, and i chose to feed myself and my fiancé. He basically told me "sucks to suck." The gym itself is nice, pleasant to work out in, I loved it so much. Now I cannot go back due to their terrible customer service, and them refusing to work with me despite a doctors note. read more

Pros: New, beautiful, spacious & clean gym. Plenty of cardio equipment, machines, cable stations, yoga and spin classes, steam room, large stretching mat area, and much more. Clean pool and whirlpool. Nice and cool in the summer with ten ceiling fans in addition to air conditioning. My only major con is there are only three abdominal machines in the whole gym. Hoping their new location in Ocean County Mall has a good selection of ab machines like their old Bay Avenue location did; then they'd get get five stars from me! read more

The good. The facility new and very clean. There is a pool and other rooms for classes. I go in the morning so it not too crowded as I may have to wait for 1 or 2 machines. The bad. I have a Silver Sneakers which I get thru my healthcare provider. LA Fitness offers an fitness assessment which to use a tool to sell a year long personal training. The sales team is very aggressive - I actually thought they had previously worked at used car dealership. The wanted to know how much I could afford and they would design a program based on that number. Everyone should recognize that tactic from the used car dealerships. They were relentless and I finally walked out. I previously went to another older gym which participated in Silver Sneakers. There I had a trainer take me through the gym and design a program of 7-8 things, including using dumbbells, barbells and machines. I wish LA Fitness had done something similar but they have a brand new building/equipment for beware the hard sell. read more

Can we fix the equipment? There is more treadmills broken then able to use. Half the bench pads are ripped to shreds. The pads on the leg extension machines are ripped off and have yoga Mats taped to them. The row machine has been broken for 6 months now. It's getting ridiculous!!! But I guarantee that they will be taking our yearly dues no problem. Also assisted pull up machines are broken along with 2 of the 3 pec deck machines. Looking into new gyms asap read more

Rude as duck. I was asked to leave functional training area by some bouncer looking guy because there was personal training going on. In actuality he was training his lady friend. I stated that when I purchased my membership, I was told that area can be for my use as well. I was then informed that there were mats ( dirty ones) on the far side of the gym for my use. No people skills whatsoever. He was actually in my face telling me this. I've been a member of the brick club since they opened. I went to the general manager about it. He threw his hands up and said that guy was his boss. I'm just wondering how someone with ZERO people skills in a business like that manages to get that position. I will be sending an email to their corporate office. There's no reason why I have to tolerate that treatment as a paying customer. I'm not from the area but I'm apart of ESPORTA gym, I gave the manager Mike a call and told him I would be in Brick for a few days and wanted to use his club. Mike was very accommodating in letting my girl friend and I use the gym for 3 days. The gym was very clean and we both felt safe working out! Jamison was also very helpful! The gym itself is very nice. Too many antimaskers though. I would say about 50% of guests have their masks below their nose or mouth, staff too. People in the locker room talking about how the vaccine will make you infertile. I am vaccinated but wouldn't feel safe here if I was not. read more

This is a nice new gym with excellent and friendly staff. The pool and hot tub are kept clean. But unlike the Toms River and Howell locations the patrons are unfriendly and inconsiderate of other people. Enough of the them bring their children there for that to be very noticeable. Those issues may be endemic to the area rather than the gym. Those drawbacks don't effect the popularity and the gym so crowded During peak hours that the sauna is standing room only and there are lines to use some of the choice equipment. That is something I have never experienced at any other LaFitness including Union which is a very busy location. read more

I was in the gym yesterday and he threaten to take a kid out back to "kick his f*cking ass" as he was training someone else. This all started by a gentleman asking me a question, entitled, roid head Dave inserted himself into a convo he wasn't involved in and ends up threatening the people who pay his salary. Not to mention the syringes in the bathroom that are left whenever he leaves the bathroom. The fact he threaten the customers while training a client was the most immature thing I have seen a trainer do...so trainer threatens client, does the hand across the neck as if he was going to kill this person, scares him to the point where he left and client leaves scared for his life and now the client gets kicked out because steroid Dave had a roid rage and tried to fight someone in the gym. This LA fitness is ran by kids. It's the dirtiest gym I have ever been apart of and the fact that the trainers can talk to someone like that is insane. I've never seen a client more awkward than that and it's just obvious how Dave is very immature, has no confidence, and I understand that it must be tough being an old man who takes steroids with LA fitness being ur life. Feel bad for that man but does not justify his actions for 30 minutes. A trainer scared a client so much that the client had to put a restraining order against Dave.
