This location is one of the smaller branches I have been to. I stopped in around 7:30 pm to use a treadmill and shower. The facility is kept clean and I had no problems with the equipment. With that said, there is not a ton of equipment, and most pieces of equipment were being used. The locker room was smaller and all of the lockers are jammed into one area and the showers were set up to be rather dimly lit. They do not have have a filtered water bottle refill station but there are water fountains. The staff were friendly when I arrived and were attentive when I approached the desk again to get a bandaid. Why is this gym not 24 hours !!!! This location is so much closer, but I work until 11pm on weekends and they are only open until 10pm! Absolutely ridiculous. It makes it very inconvenient for many of us, especially because there are other PFs that are open 24 hours! I was kicked out from this location. I had 3 altercations with one that was very close to becoming physical. The near physical altercation resulted in me being threatened with physical violence and led me to file a police report at brick police department today as of 10/7/2022. I was minding my own business working out when someone came up and told me that I was on the machine way too long and that I needed to get off to let others use the machine. I told him that I'm not going anywhere because I am a paying member just like him and that there is no time limit on machines. He continued to push the issue, and I got frustrated and told him to leave me the fuck alone - that i was nursing an injury back to health. He told me that we can go outside and he would fuck me up. This all happened in front of management mind you. I told him that if he wanted to do something then he could do something but he would regret it. He walked off after yelling and cursing at me and yelled out loud while walking around, " we have a fucking rough guy here! A real fucking rough guy!". I signed a waver to use my own dumbbells because I was injured in jiu jitsu at Bll Scott's shore academy. I have to workout the i jured elbow very very slowly and precisely! Management gave me permission to use these weights - they know the situation! The second altercation was with a nasty older woman. I was using a machine in the wellness center and in between sets I take about a minute or two to rest and that's when she came over and asked me how long I was going to be because she had things to do and I was taking too long. I told her I didn't know and she took the machine from me. She hopped on and basically housed me for the machine that I was using - she hijacked it. Then after she hijacks the machine, she said if i have an issue with it then i can go complain to the staff about it. I told her she didn't have to be a cunt ab​out this and that set her off and she went to management to complain after. The first altercation, the first altercation in chronological order was a guy with the woman second and the guy who threatened me last. Because of my injuries I take a bunch of supplements and he was staring at them as he was walking out and he made a face and I said why are you staring at them like their drugs we got into an argument over that I told him to suck my dick and he told me that he wasn't going to suck that little thing. This was a mutual tit for tat that eventually led to both of us apologizing and declaring that it was water under the bridge but apparently he also complained to management. I will admit that this altercation was completely my fault because I should have just let him stare and make the face that he made which is really no big deal at all. But when someone takes a machine from you or when someone tries to bully you off of a machine I feel that that's a different story. Planet fitness wouldn't listen to what I had to say and it seems that their mind was already made up to give me the boot. I immediately went to a doctor's appointment after that and my blood pressure was dangerously high which is probably due to my adrenaline being super high due to being threatened with physical violence. This horrible experience aside, the equipment is outdated! The locker room is filthy! There is mold in the showers. Little kids are constantly crowding in​ front of the mirrors with their shirts off. This is not a gym! They call PF the no judgement zone but they discriminate against dedicated gym heads and call them lunks. They don't allow you to grunt, carry water jugs, wear string tank tops, etc., or your considered a lunk. They also have pizza Fridays and bagel Tuesdays - not since COVID though. They're smart and want to keep their customers. This place is full of fat people, old people, and tough guys! Management is a joke too. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the trouble by getting a membership to a real gym like LA fitness, retro, etc. read more

They're Baaaack. Yup, Those new years resolution people have signed up for the new year. This time they're really going to stick with it. LOL. Just a horrible first week of the year. Packed with daydreamers and people just sitting on machines looking at their phones texting. And no, they aren't tracking their workouts. Less than 5 % of members do. Saw a group of 3 newbies all with coffees as they worked out. So ridiculous. We walked out after 5 minutes on Monday after a frustrating wait for machines. Assholes just sitting there staring into space or checking their email. These are the dickheads who think they can sit on a machine for as long as they want. Very similar to the left lane dicks you see on the roads . The ones who belive they are going fast enough, won't move over and you'll have to pass them on the right. If I owned a gym, "Uncle Steve's Workout Palace", the weight machines would have an electric shock feature built in. After 10 minutes on a machine, you get zapped forcing you to move onto a different machine. Cell phones would not be permited. If you want to listen to music get an ipod touch. No mats for people to do stretches. Stop that! You can stretch at home. Machines would be wiped down with a damp paper towel, not one that's dripping wet where the guy after you is going to get a wet ass . Also retired people would not be permitted to work out on the weekends. They have all week to get their workouts in and do their food shopping as well. Leave the weekends to the working class. Then there's the people who work out everyday. Who's life is that empty where they want to work out everyday? Not in my gym, unless you're smokin hot. Pooping at the gym with be discouraged. Please try to regulate yourself. Dogs being taken out for a walk can do it, so can you. No carrying around water bottles unless on a cardio machine. You're spending way to much time at the gym if you have to "re-hydrate" when you're not doing cardio. I'm embarrassed for those people walking around with gallon jugs filled with an orange liquid, almost as embarrassing as those guys who wear a tank top in the winter, just to let people know they work out. BTW you aren't dehydrated when you first get thirsty. It's a myth. 2% dehydrated only. My advice would be to wait until February when most of these newbies have dropped out. Great staff at this location. Nobody's goofing off. They're always working and cleaning. Lazy employees don't last long here. read more

As a former employee and member, it is one of the worst ran gyms. I knew this would be a good fit to work since I love to workout. Took the job with that in mind. Unfortunately I began to see the pattern of my manger, how she handles situations as well as her employees. I was constantly anxious, and walking on eggshells coming into work. They have this "Lunk alarm" for anybody that they JUDGE to be too athletic or apparently TOO HYDRATED, yes they actually are against you using a large water bottle, it is written on the wall next to the alarm, I WOULD LIVE TO SEE THIS SPECIFICALLY ADDRESSED. These questions are for the owner/person answering these reviews. *WHY CAN'T YOU (or are discouraged from) USING A LARGE WATER CONTAINER? *WHY DOES THE SIGN NEXT TO THE "LUNK ALARM" SAY TANK TOPS ARE NOT WELCOME? *WHAT IS MEANT BY "SAFE CLOTHING?" "SAFE" FROM WHAT EXACTLY? Do you mean like safety equipment? The so-called "judgment free zone" is literally the only business I have ever seen that passes judgment on people as policy. The have an alarm that they use if they JUDGE them to not fit their specific and mostly arbitrary criteria. They are even against tank tops according to their signage but a lot of people are wearing them anyway. I belong to a Golds gym and there are people of all fitness levels and I have never had a conversation had or heard a conversation where someone's physique is being judged. It doesn't happen and it would be met with disapproval from others to say the least. I am muscular and fit, I probably fit the stereotype that they don't want there, I don't feel welcome and I'm probably not. I can assure you if you go to another gym no one is "judging you" they are looking in the mirror at their own body and "judging" thenselve. It really is such an ugly concept, it seeks to divide people not bring them together. The gym I belong to has everything from overweight old ladies looking to do something healthy to more than one elite bodybuilder athlete of both genders. Everybody is cool with each other and willing to help. To digress for a moment, the person who is answering these reviews said that they want people to be wearing "safe" clothing. The only thing I could think that possibly means is something that won't make some human being offended. Obviously that's impossible. The staff at this location Route 88 Point Pleasant, is the WORST EVER. Very poor customer service skills. I have been to several Planet Fitness locations were the staff is friendly but this one is the WORST BY FAR. In particular one employee named Ashley, VERY RUDE. WORST ATTITUDE EVER. I had changed banks and forgot to add my new bank card. I was told by another location (I have the Black card) that it was no problem and just pay what I need to pay to be caught up to date. I paid the Full amount and seemingly added my new card on file. I had not been to the gym in a while and when I walked in this Ashely questioned me about my membership payments. I told her that I had spoken to the manager James and paid my account to date and added my new card. A week later(I was not using the gym frequently at this time) I walked in and this Ashley again proceeded to question me VERY RUDELY and with an ATTITUDE about my account. I figured she had already spoken to the manager James but apparently there is a severe lack of communication there. To make a long story short, this ASHLEY person HARASSED me and even followed me into the locker room while CURSING. I had just about had it and called corporate. I did speak to the District manager about the situation. Basically due to the lack of communication between the manager James and his staff, I was HARASSED, caused DRAMA and spoken to VERY RUDELY and with an ATTITUDE by this ASHLEY. WORST GYM EXPERIENCE EVER. I have NEVER encountered such RUDENESS AND HARASSMENT at a gym before. This could have all been avoided had there been better communication between the manager and staff. What an CLASS A GYM, with a GREAT open and spacious atmosphere. Their staff is very helpful, informative, and extremely friendly. I've been to a few other gyms in the area and I've NEVER seen a gym cleaner than this. The members are friendly, but I must say everyone keeps to themselves... and that is what I like the most. I have been lifting for quit a while now and I am truly happy I can say I have found my fit. They have everything I need. DID I MENTION HOW BEAUTIFUL THEIR CARDIO EQUIPMENT IS?? i have been going to Planet Fitness on the Laurel Square shopping center in brick new jersey for a few years. they have plenty of aerobic exercise machines. this location is never over crowded but it is always busy. all kinds of people go to planet fitness - old and young, fit and not so fit. the staff is great, the locker rooms are big, the parking lot is big. this location has tanning and some massage chairs. oh and the price is definitely right. the only negative is that they don't offer any classes at all read more

ZERO STARS. I joined Planet Fitness last November. Called in July to cancel my membership, the male I spoke to on the phone stated it was all canceled and that I didn't have to do anything else. I decided to check my bank account a few weeks ago and saw charges from Planet since last July, every month, for a membership that I was under the impression was canceled. I called the club on 12/27/22, spoke to a manager and explained the situation. I was told that there was no documentation on their end that I had cancelled my membership and that I was not entitled to a refund. She also explained that since I was calling to cancel after the 25th day of the month (even though I had already been told it was cancelled months prior), that I would still be getting charged the yearly service fee on January 1st. So not only was I being wrongfully charged $25 a month, another $45 was just tacked onto it. I received a call today from the club (1/6/23) and was told that I was STILL a member even after speaking to a manager a week prior who said I was cancelled. So after calling in July and at the end of December, I was still a member after being told TWICE that it was cancelled. Due to two employees mistakes, I am now out hundreds of dollars. I contacted corporate who stated they would get me in touch with the owner of the gym, which never happened. I went to my bank today to dispute the charges and was told I probably wouldn't get a refund and that I had to take it up with Planet Fitness, who has been 0 help to me and does not seem to care that my hard earned money will not be refunded. I will not be returning and do not recommend Planet Fitness to anyone who is thinking of joining due to lack of professionalism. read more

While this location is fairly new and this may be expected, this location is very clean and still smells good(surprisingly). This location can get very busy at times but there are enough machines to get a good workout in without having to fight over equipment. The staff here is ok. I've been a member here since October 2016 when it was recently opened. Of course everything thing was new and clean. I was telling everyone what a great deal this gym was. I do recall someone mention the other location on Brick Blvd in Brick, and saying, "just wait, you get what you pay for and maybe less". Over the months I have noticed a decline in the cleanliness of the equipment and locker room. As per my previous review, there are a lot of people not wiping down the equipment after use. I suspect most are doing this without thinking about it, not out of intentional disrespect. On a recent visit, I mentioned this at the front desk, and suggesting they have kbigger signs and politely remind people not complying. Instead of focusing on addressing the problem, the girl at the desk gets defensive and launches into a tirade of how they can't FORCE people to wipe off the equipment. Really?? I wasn't suggesting "forcing" anyone to do anything, I thought that maybe reminding people that this is common etiquette might be encourage compliance. Also at most clubs, this is policy. I know when I went to Meridian Fitness they would gently remind anyone not wiping off the equipment, to do so. If I came to work out in jeans and boots and was dropping weights on the floor, would no one say anything to that either? I know it's easier to ignore things, but, as an employee, isn't it part of your job to make sure standards are maintained? Another example of lack of concern is the fallen hooks next to the showers in the men's locker room. I was going to work out today. But I didnt feel like hassling with the shower situation. With one exception, all the hooks have fallen down OVER A MONTH AGO. Also one of the showers has been out of commissIon. (They only have four). I've inquired about this on several occasions, and was told they are "working on it". Initially, one of the employees said they needed corporate approval, then I was told that they tried putting up plastic hooks and they fell off, then, most recently, Ryan, the manager, told me that they're going to try metal hooks. How long does it take to get "corporate approval" and put up three towel hooks? Congress works faster than this. And when I asked Ryan if he had a timeframe on how long that would take, he said he didn't, it depended on the owner. I then inquired about contacting the owner, and if refused to give me his name. Wow! This is a gym where I'm a member paying monthly dues and you can't give me the owner's name. I don't know if this is their policy, or just a call Ryan took upon himself to make, but it's not good business. read more

From personal experience, I suggest find a different gym in the area. The women's bathroom is always a mess, toilet paper on the floor, wet counters, paper towel dispenser empty, toilets dirty. There's also no area to just simply stretch. I was using a machine in the "circuit area" and an extremely rude man asked me if I was going to be done soon and I said I was just doing a few reps and getting off of if and he proceeded to say THIS IS THE CIRCUIT, SEE THE LIGHT - YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW IT OR GET OUT. I told him its a piece of equipment in the gym and I could use it freely and he kept insisting no and you HAVE to follow the circuit. lol what a joke. So when I finished I asked the woman at the front desk and she basically said if that same machine is on the floor and being used, you can go use anything in there as you'd like only if its not busy but technically you have to follow the circuit. So basically you pay for a gym membership and if there's a piece of equipment you wish to use in the circuit only, its frowned down on if you dont follow their circuit. DUMB. A NO JUDGEMENT ZONE!!!! I strongly disagree!!! I have been to many gyms in my life starting back in the 1980's since I was a teenager. The customer service, at this particular gym, is by far the worst I have ever seen. As a business owner, I have fired staff members for behavior that I see on a daily basis at Planet fitness in Brick on route 88. Also, I have read the other reviews and apparently I am not alone in my thinking. I was lifting and Sandy never has a nice word to say. I put the weights down on the ground and she says only to me "stop banging the weights." I said Sandy it's rubber weights being put on a rubber mat. It's not loud at all. She replies " I am dong my job." Funny I saw you staring at me - what is the issue you don't like me! Nothing else to say but I am doing my job for the second time. I said you don't say it to anyone else. Sandy replies go to anytime fitness! I replied your rude and nasty and refund me my money. She said "I can't" I replied of course you can't and myself and my girlfriend left and will not be returning. Well Sandy I took your advice! We saw Bill at Vive fitness in point pleasant and Jackie at Brielle fitness. And they were both more than accommodating. A tour of both facilities and offers to work out for free. Myself and Jessica, my girlfriend, both said" We feel welcomed and both staff members are extremely nice." The same compliments if you visited my dental office in point pleasant. By the way, both Brielle fitness and vive fitness were more expensive but I am willing to pay. Sandy reminded me of an old adage " You only get what you pay for!" The staff here is just awful. They always look at you with disdain for just existing. I had the audacity of asking to talk with a manager about an issue with my payments, after being told to do so over the phone by another employee of this location. They just looked at me like they couldn't care less, and said they couldn't do much about my problem, even though it was their system's mistake. They did end up crediting me for a couple of months, but when I asked for a paper copy of it, I received an audible sigh and eye roll from both the manager and the other employee at the desk. I have been to a few different planet fitnesses, this was one is clean and shiny. However they do not have any designated area to stretch. It's very odd trying to stretch in between big and bulky equipment, while ppl are trying to use them. There is also no hand sanitizer which is kinda gross because I have to wait until the end of my workout to wash my hands in the rest room. On January 10, 2018 I joined this Gym. On the 11th i went to my first workout. A short time later i learned I had health issues which would prevent me from going. The next time I used the membership was 12/6/2019. To date I have not returned but paid my monthly dues for over 3 years. With Covid 19 still being present i decided to cease the membership after my monthly payment on February 17th. Knowing under my contract you have to give notice in writing, I called on the 18th how to deliver the letter. A F/M representative said they changed their requirements due to Covid & she could take it over the phone. I gave her the info and hung up. On March 2nd my American Express account showed a $41.58 charge from the Gym. I was on an automatic withdrawal payment method. I called the gym and a F/M representative said it was the upcoming yearly charge. I advised her I stopped the membership on the 18th of February over the phone. She said the representative must have neglected to put it in the computer. I advised her I wanted a refund. She said she couldn't so i asked to speak to the manager or owner. She took a message and said I would get a call back. Still waiting for the call back. On that date I received an email that my membership was discontinued but not predated February 18th when I originally called. I contested it with American Express & they said the Gym is showing March 2nd, a day after the charge. Planet Fitness changed the original contract due to Covid. This should not be on the consumer. This must be the new way they make money without you knowing. Telling you they cancelled but don't. I called today and Christina said the Manager was in a meeting. I called back a half hour later & she said she left & forgot to call me. Guess this is the way to make up money during a Pandemic!!! To me this is a very bad way to run a business. Avoid this Place!!! I'll be notifying Consumer Affairs, The Attorney Generals Office & the BBB. Check out the BBB rating it's an F !!! Also an Attorney within the family. So I have been going to gyms for 35+ years and have never been reprimanded for dropping my weights. I have very good gym etiquette in all aspects from putting weights back, putting cable ropes and bars back and wiping down equipment. I go to work out today at this gym and I am the only one in the dumb bell section minding my own biz, listening to some freestyle and I finished one set of flat bench flies when one of the girls behind the counter comes rushing to me to scold me like a young kid and tell me that I am dropping the weights. Mind you, one set only was done, and I know the difference between dropping weights and placing them down so you don't stretch your back and hurt yourself if you place them down incorrectly. Really worker girl, if that is the way you treat patrons at this gym, which btw I like to go to, BUT I will definitely not continue to recommend if you have to walk around on eggshells because the sound of people working out is too much for her to handle. Get a job in the library if you can't take it... Wow...what a joke! read more
