I had to try a bagel when I was in Montreal. Can I even say I was in Canada if I didn't eat a bagel? We grabbed a sesame bagel with cream cheese, lox and red onion and a chocolate chip with blueberry cream cheese; both bagels were delicious and gobbled up so fast, I almost didn't get a picture! Service was great, they were very friendly and patient with us while we decided what we wanted. We sat at a clean table near the bagel shop and people watched while we snacked. Clean and delicious!
Tasty!!! Multiple bagel flavors to choose from and different cream cheese flavors. I kept it simple and ordered a sesame bagel with plain cream cheese. It was great!! Different than your ordinary bagel but just as good! Location is downstairs once you get into the building.
This was my first Montreal bagel. It was pretty different from the NY version. The crusty texture was more reminiscent of a bialy. And it was sweeter and somewhat denser too. Size wise, it was a bit smaller. Maybe if I had grown up eating these, I would appreciate them more but overall I'll stick to the NY version.

I was able to sit in the main area of the entrance to the building and watch the people go by as I ate my bagel.
Morning appetite called for bagel. Where else to go than here! Not your typical mall food oh no. Decided to try the chicken pesto on a sesame bagel. Bagel was sweet but contrasted well with the savory mozzarella and pesto. Washed it down with a simple almond milk latte. Service was great and quick. Would stop by again if I lived here

I love this little bagel shop in the underground Carrefours complex downtown. (Note: there are multiple ways to access this bagel shop, but for my mother and me, we got here directly by going into Simon's and then taking the store escalator down a level, and this bagel shop is directly to the left of the escalator on the ground floor). This small "bagelerie" (lol my term) has a ton of different bagels to choose from, and a ton of different "shmears". All are fresh and made with top-notch ingredients. I'm loyal to St. Viateur bagels, but these are pretty decent, made in the famous "Montreal way" (i.e., they are not puffy with air. Rather, they are smaller, a bit sweeter, with a chewier exterior and softer interior). I saw that they also have some fabulous looking bagel sandwiches here (including my favorite, the traditional bagel with cream cheese and lox with tomato and onion rounds). They also had some wonderful looking salads, too. If I worked downtown, this would definitely be one of my go-to lunch spots. My mother and I shared a raison bagel with regular cream cheese and man, it was delicious. Mom had a black Americano coffee and it came "nuclear hot", just the way she likes it. I had a latte and it was delicious. I should add that they had some other delectable looking pastries, cookies and bars on display, and the girls behind the counter could not have been any nicer.
La Fabrique de Bagel is in an underground shopping center on Rue Ste Catherine O. It is a short walk from many hotels on René Lévesque Boulevard. When you see the Starbucks and movie theatre, go inside the building next to it and take the escalator down. This shop has excellent Montreal-style bagels to go. I got the sesame bagel with plain cream cheese. The bagels are thin, warm, and crunchy, slathered with a good amount of cream cheese. I like the crispier texture of the Montreal-style bagel, but it probably hardens quicker than the softer and thicker American bagel, so eat it soon after it is toasted.
They are famous for Cream Cheese bagel. I have asked the staffs and they said honey nuts and fudges flavor are two most popular ones. I have tried two bagel with these two cream cheese and it really taste good. Honey nuts are sweeter than fudges one, and has nuts chips inside, which is my favorites. Also I have order another same one with Salmon, that also tasted good. You will be charged on the regular cream cheese bagel and pay extra for the smoke salmon. Beef and Cheese Bagel and Turkey Cheese and Egg Bagel are the well-done bagel, which taste just ok. I will recommend people to try cream cheese bagels instead of the well-done one.
Hard to find inside the subway area. Confusing to order and slow service, BUT the bagel to my surprise was very good. Nothing like a NJ/NY bagel. Good in a different way, smaller, not as bready on the inside, crispy on the outside and less filling. I recommend trying it out. My pumpkin spice iced coffee was very good too
Cozy place for a quick breakfast/lunch - they have plenty of pre-made options! Not to mention the staff was friendly and fast I got a rosemary bagel with fig cream cheese & their green juice. It was good however, there should have been more cream cheese - Timmies give you more cream cheese than this place!
The turkey croque was simple but filling, and the iced mocha was perfect for a morning pick-up. There wasn't much of a line and the service was friendly and quick.
Oh my gosh, these bagels were phenomenal! They were not as doughy as traditional bagels that you find in the US, and the cream cheese was fresh and not too thick. I came back twice during my stay and they were both consistently great, toasty, and perfect! Everyone was very friendly working too. Would 1000% come back for another! read more
This is listed as the Ste-Catherine location but I see some pictures of the one in Montreal Dorval Airport, which is where I was. Surprisingly good bagels for an airport food court restaurant! Very fresh and very tasty smoked salmon. Friendly service! read more
While on vacation, in June, I tried my first bagel in Canada. There was an impressive selection of cream cheeses and toppings, available. The bagels are smaller than a typical NYC bagel; that's not a bad thing! They were tasty and just enough for Breakfast. The place is clean and the staff cordial. read more

I tried the Za'atar bagel with the herb & garlic spread. It was ... interesting. The bagel is unique in that it's thin and packed with flavors. But the Za'atar bagel was really hard & not in a satisfying way. Next time I'll stick to the reliable everything bagel ! read more

Needed a quick lunch in Montréal recently. Thought I'd give one of Montreals famous bagels a shot. Picked this spot because it was close to my hotel. Ordered the salmon classic. (Sesame bagel, cream cheese, smoked salmon, capers, red onion). Also got some tomato basil soup. Bagel was good. Not great. Maybe I'm just too used to NYC bagels? Big. Chewy. Airy on the inside. Crispy on the outside. Sorta just felt a bit underwhelming. Nothing was bad about it....just didn't feel special. Soup was good. Hot. Tomato-y and comforting. I think I liked it more than the bagel sandwich. (Wasn't thrilled when I opened the soup and it was filled about 80%... but I got over it.) I think I'm gonna have to give Montreal's bagels again, I'm not sure this was the best representation. I love Montreal....so I'll be back. read more

There was a caution in coming here. The natural path to bagel bliss in Montreal is generally St. Urbain. Yet the Yelp reviews drove me here. The joint had several employees in the front and back, so really no ambiance since seating didn't exist. I ordered 12 bagels. A smoothie for my daughter, and a multigrain bagel with some jalapeño cream cheese and smoked salmon. The taste was terrific. Half a bagel of in. Where is my phone? I ventured down to the location. I attempted to flag down the attendant at the counter. No response. My original help at front of house was also tied up. I turned and left. The employee who didn't originally help me, opened the side door, curtly told me that she was busy. Was nothing short of unpleasant. It was a horrible way of creating an impression that was supposed to be supportive of her company. Thankfully I had another device to find my phone. Ironically, the first individual I spoke to was terrific and helpful. Complete 180 from the other. The bagel/cream cheese/ salmon was out of this world. Woulda been a solid 4.75 out of 5 had not been for the poor excuse of an employee. read more

This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. We are visiting from Toronto and we're excited to try Montreal bagels. We ordered two over priced salmon avocado bagels which were stale and had hard, unripe avocado. The staff were completely unresponsive to any feedback and refused to do anything to remediate the situation. We're hungry because they were inedible!! That's how bad!! Stay away! read more
