This is a pleasant little Taberna right across the street from the Roman temple. It has a huge menu, with starters, entrees, desserts, and a special section for paella. They have specials every night it seems. It is not a tapas bar, but you could treat it as one - most of the starters & small dishes come in half-size portions as well as full-size.
It's quite small. On Sunday at 9 pm, without reservations, we had to sit outside - all the indoor tables were taken. Later we saw them turn away a couple. The outdoor tables had been filled! I doubt you'll need reservations on a weekday (or earlier) though.
We had the Calabrian anchovy toast which was good though the anchovies were of the canned variety. We were looking at the lobster paella, and the waiter actually warned us that the special that night was a lobster casserole - 16 euros cheaper for the same quantity & quality (though with potatoes instead of rice). That was nice. We decided to get the king prawn & monkfish paella. The seafood was terrific & plentiful. The rice seemed soggier than I expected. So 4 stars.
Service was fast and attentive (not always the case in Spain!) Our waiter spoke excellent English, and when he heard two customers speaking French, he spoke French to them. read more
