Here's a place that's good for everything. Snack, dessert, lunch (well, in my opinion it works for…read morelunch), craving for imported soda... it works! Crepeman tastes like those long afternoons in Miriam College's cafeteria where all I lived on were their tuna crepes and nothing else. What can I say, I was cheap and on a forced diet. Good to see some things never change. Crepeman still has some pretty good (and pretty indulgent) crepes. Having had enough of their savory crepes, I usually go back for the sweet crepes I missed out on. The chaos is a personal favorite. Good when you need that sugary kick and can't decide what exactly you want off their menu. What can I say? I like my fruit. Also, don't be afraid of pork floss. It's probably one of the best things ever and having it in a crepe? Even better.

The crowd was intense and there were queues everywhere even in places you would not expect. We were lucky enough to be living in the vicinity since we had accessible parking space and a resting area when we got tired of walking around. By dinner time, it was almost impossible to get anything to eat without an hour of wait time. A lot of the restaurants and kiosks have run out of food as well. My brother was there to save our stomachs by falling in line for about 3,572.21 hours and getting us some dinner crepes. PROS: They offer both savory and sweet crepes. I find the savory ones better and more interesting as crepes in the area are usually dessert fare; Cheap prices relative to most crepe places. CONS: The blueberry crepe had too much whipped crème and too little cream cheese; The place is a little cramped which is a good thing for the business but a little ugh for me. This is not just during the food fest but even on regular days. TL;DR: Your wallet-friendly crepe fix in a convenient location.

(But seriously, why eat pasta or a sandwich at a crepe place?) I like that Cafe Breton has an option wherein you can also choose to personalize your crepes. While I have not tried this route as I'm afraid to be too adventurous with what goes inside my crepe, I'll stick the review to the crepes I frequently order. For those who want a meal in their crepes, Cafe Breton has a variety of meat and seafood fillings to choose from. My favorite however, is their Galette Rustique - a smoked bacon, tomato provencal, mozzarella and egg crepe that is light on the stomach and tastes really good. The ratio of the meaton the crepe is just enough without falling short on flavor. For their dessert crepes, hands down my favorite is the La Pinay. It's a mix of mango topped with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. The dessert isn't too sweet and the mangoes used are fresh. The touch of vanilla ice cream on top is delicious and blends well with the mango chocolate drizzle. Another favorite at Cafe Breton is its pretty extensive coffee offerings. I really like their Cafe Mocha and it's a perfect match with the La Pinay dessert crepe.

For a while, it's been my go-to dessert store after nice meals since there wasn't much places selling cakes along Maginhawa back then. But now, there has been more competition and it seems like Fancy was boxed out from the prime real estate. PROS: Once a week, they have a promo where they slash 50% off from their cakes; Endless coffee for P50.00; More cheesecake and cake choices; Cute crepe presentations where they write your name with syrup; Quirky interiors that Zooey Deschanel may approve. CONS: They've had a price increase since relocation; Serving size has gone smaller too. TL;DR: It's not really a unique experience, and you may find the servings not enough, but it's a good tambay place where you could get your stuff done.

But I do remember when Fancy Crepes and Cakes was the only spot in Maginhawa where you could get something fancier than McD's sundaes for dessert. Dark times those. Dark times. There's a certain delicacy to this place. Their crepes are the thinner French variety but that doesn't make them the lesser species of crepe. They're just the thing if you want something lighter or at least something to nibble on while hanging out with a friend or doing some work. And yes, they do have bottomless coffee. Where else can you get bottomless coffee for 50php? Caffeine coma, here I come. As Faye said, I was a little disappointed that their serving sizes seem to have gone down but eh, they still make good stuff. The I Love NY is still a personal favorite.
