One of the first things I researched upon arriving in Lausanne was crepes, and I quickly arrived at the internet consensus: Creperie la Chandeleur is bae first and foremost and La Creperie d'Ouchy comes in a distant second place and caters more to tourists. While the latter part of that is true - that the clientele is tourist driven, I myself found that La Creperie d'Ouchy dished up better crepes than Creperie la Chandeleur, which I visited a day later. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Sure it's a tourist spot but hot damn is this view near impossible to beat. Between that and ample seating with fast and friendly service this is a treat anyway you cut it. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Sure, being a tourist trap comes with a price tag, and at La Creperie d'Ouchy that price tag is very, very, exceptionally high even for Lausanne. My Normande apple sweet crepe was of good size, but I simply could not get over its 17,50 CHF price tag. That'd be an expensive meal even in Lausanne, and it was highway robbery for a crepe especially given the lower price point at Creperie la Chandeleur. No Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? This was a truly excellent crepe. From the crepe itself packed full of flavorful homemade apple sauce to the excellent cream and cinnamon ice cream, this was genuinely excellent as were all those enjoyed by my party - both sweet and savory. A plusieurs reprises j'y suis allée avec mon conjoint et mes deux chiens descendant des hauts de la ville pour y manger le soir et même en arrivant à 19h, on arrive à nous dire que la cuisine pour le salé est fermée. D'ailleurs les 4x que nous sommes allés et qu'on nous a annoncé la non disponibilité de la cuisine pour le salé, l'excuse est toujours la même : nous sommes déjà ouvert depuis 11h du matin non-stop. Je me demande à quoi cela sert de fermer à 20h si c'est pour servir que des boissons et quelques crêpes sucrées. A 19h les gens mangent, ils ne prennent pas de dessert sans avoir eu le repas avant, mais bon. Je me répète, de très délicieuses crêpes, alors le service et le respect des horaires de fermeture qu'ils avancent selon l'affluence ou leur envie de partir à la maison, une vraie M... Not bad, but pretty average and fairly expensive. I found no problem with the service, which was fast and efficient. The crepe I had (a standard chocolate and banana) was good, but hardly the best I've had. Worth a shot if you're in the neighbourhood, but don't expect to be wowed. read more

I am surprised by all of the negative reviews, because my husband and I had one of our best meals and favorite afternoons in all of Europe here! Switzerland is expensive, yes, but I didn't find this place to be abnormally unreasonable. La Creperie in the Ouchy neighborhood of Lausanne has a prime location across from the lake and the popular promenade. On a sunny day, the outdoor café at La Creperie is an inviting place to be and it is a good pit stop for a light bite to eat (c'mon .... a crepe is inherently a light bite!) Also of course a wine or a beer is a must here as well. There is an almost endless assortment of crepes to choose from. I had a tasty jambon et epinards crepe (Ham and spinach). My friend had a Tomme Vaudoise (a flavorful cheese from the Vaud Canton) crepe. The crepes are large which is a plus but surprisingly a little hard around the edges (which is a little careless.) A refreshing panachée (similar to an Austrian Radler beer) was a nice drink offering for a sunny, warm afternoon. The prices are the Swiss-typical - very,very high. The waiter took a long time to arrive at the table despite it not being very crowded. But in the end there's the quaintness of the old buildings in Ouchy and the location by the lake .... and on a warm, sunny afternoon these are the factors that take priority. read more

I found this creperie while taking a walk by Lac Leman (Lake Geneva). The crepes are HUGE and quite filling as well as delicious! My favorite was La Parme. Nice location, but if you could go anywhere else for crepes, like the little kiosk across the street right in front of the lake, for 1/3 of the price- which also includes sweet and savory crepes, you will be glad you did. The food was meh, and the price you paid was for the location, not anything else.
