It is located on the other side of the Nyon train station across from the entrance to the local red train that goes up to Saint Cergue. It is temporary food stand/outside cafe. I finally got a chance to enjoy a late summer evening here after getting off the train. This place is always packed and can often be hard to find a seat. All the seating is outside and you go up to the trailer window to place your order and take it back to your seat. Then take your dishes back to the window when you are done. They serve a choice of coffee, tea, beer, wine or other alcohol free drinks. They also have a variety of light items to snack on (changes each day). Typically they offer salads, sandwiches, a meat/cheese plate, sorbet, yogurt, or home made sweets. I happened to take an espresso and couldn't resist a slice of chocolate tart. My espresso was fine, but the chocolate tart melted in my mouth and was perfection - lightly crispy on the outside and gooey soft on the inside. YUMMY! If I get a chance to stop by here again I will before it closes. Dependent on the weather it closed last year at the end of September - beginning of October. There are two options worth taking advantage of here pasta/ravioli or salad. The pre-made items are nothing special and didn't look fresh. The pasta and salad are made fresh to order right in front of you. They take the ingredients of your choice and cook or mix it right up fresh. The line on the right hand side is for salad, and the line on the left is for pasta. I choose something warm, and went for the pasta. They cook up a selection of veggies (your choice) and for an extra 2 CHF the meat of your choice. You can then choose from three different sauces. Once done, you can add fresh grated Parmesan cheese to top it off. The pasta was good, just a bit oily at the bottom. The seating area isn't the most comfortable, standard cafeteria style standards. Be sure to first locate a seat and save it with your coat, and then wait in line, as the seating area is not very large. When you are done just take your tray to the container at the front for the dirty dishes. I will have to try the salad next time, as it looked very good. TIP: be sure to get the fidelity card here if you plan on returning here, the 9th plate of pasta is free. The fidelity card also has a section for cafe, but I didn't see one for salads.

In Geneva I was surprised to hear about an American market in Paquis (it's also hard to believe I'm now living in a city where American food is considered 'ethnic') and looked forward to checking it out. In particular, I wanted to see if they carried some baking ingredients I couldn't find in Coop or Migros (chocolate chips, brown sugar, food coloring, etc). I didn't really know what to expect coming here, but the first surprise was that the market was located through the door and up the stairs of a 60s-style diner. It took me a couple of pass-bys before I realized that I had to actually enter the diner to access the market. I'll start by saying that this is one of the smallest markets I've ever been in- with low ceilings and goods packed in every free space. I made the mistake of wearing a backpack that day, and I was unable to turn around in the aisles without knocking something over! They do have quite the selection of American goods- from chips to boxed meals to seasonal goods (seems like a good place to grab a few decorations for 4th of July, Halloween or thanksgiving), including my baking ingredients, but the prices are insane... you would think that every ingredient was personally formulated, packaged and shipped to you! Unfortunately, due to the prices, I can't say I can afford to come back anytime soon- I've been priced out of my own ethnic market!
