While you can see some wear and tear (literal tears in the couch/chairs), the establishment is very nice and there is a lot of space. Every time I walked by, I had always seen the same woman working. Once again, she was alone as I entered. During the usual haircut chit chat, I found out that her name is Carol and she owns the Salon. She works here by herself except for Saturdays when a girl comes in to help because it is the busiest day. SO if anyone reads this who is a hairdresser from Montreal, call her- she's looking to rent her chairs out! Anyways, she is amazingly nice and I absolutely loved having my hair done there. I always hate having to speak to hairdressers but I enjoyed our conversation and when she was done, I almost wanted to cry I was so happy by how it turned out. I had brought a picture, and she decided to do it differently to have my hair help frame my face. She said just because I'm a Mom now, it doesn't mean I need "Mom hair". Overall, I absolutely loved getting my hair done. It took about an hour and for a wash, cut and dry, its cost $40. Compared to other salons, this is quite a good price! I will definitely be going back. Carol is incredibly considerate and even dried my shirt before I left so i wouldn't be cold and have my freshly done hair get curly. (It got wet while she washed it, but that could happen anywhere since I didn't have the apron on yet). Definitely recommend this salon!

I followed Alex here years ago after she moved to this location from a competing hairdresser. She is my savior and the only person I trust my hair with. She is certainly eccentric and will not apologize for having a foul mouth, which is fine by me cause she does an excellent job. Sure, there's always a wait, as being on time often takes a backseat to a good gossip session or titillating story, but that's the price of beauty. The place is clean, the staff are usually great and the prices are moderate. You can't ask for much more, especially in this neighborhood! I also go upstairs to visit Rafi for a wax every few weeks. She is a phenomenal individual and esthetician. I won't pretend she's the most gentle, but she does an excellent job at giving the client what they ask for... I also appreciate that she doesn't hard-sell extra services. Her prices are fairly moderate and she has excellent bed-side manner. Heads up, the front-desk lady/secretary isn't always the friendliest, but I think after a dozen years or so, I've finally gotten on her good side. Just be quick and to the point and you might actually squeeze a smile out of her on your way out.

They checked my appointment and said I would start with the eyebrow mapping, but the tech was with someone, so told me to have a seat and she would come get me when she was done. I arrived early, so that was fine. I sat for 10 minutes, now 5 minutes after my appointment was due to start. A tech had come out and had someone pay, but didn't come get me, so I assumed she wasn't who would be doing my service. I continued to wait, then got up and looked at some of the items they have for sale. The tech was sitting at the front desk on her phone. She asked if I have an appointment, I said yes, for eyebrows, and she says "oh! That's with me!" Apparently it didn't occur to her that the person waiting was her client. The service was good. She mixed the tint too light the first time and offered to redo it, which I agreed to. After that, the nail tech greeted me and we sat down to do the mani portion of my mani-pedi. She complained that she'd done too many feet that day, so we would start with nails. She was helpful in assisting me with picking a colour. However she did not tell me that the one she suggested, which I accepted, was quite significantly more expensive than what I originally booked for, and I feel like an upcharge should be specified before performing the service. I got cat-eye polish, and that came with a "nail art" surcharge on top of the upcharge for that specific gel. I was also unsure about the sterility. She took the tools out of a plastic container with some liquid in it, not out of a sealed pouch or electric sterilizer. She suggested I do the same polish on my toes as well, and I knew I would be charged more for gel on the toes instead of a regular pedicure, but not by as much as it was. I also find that she rushed my pedicure as when I arrived home, I noticed that my toe nails were jagged and rough, and I had to file them myself, and I had a lot of dry skin still on my feet that I had to remove as well. What was originally booked as $135 (before tax) ended up being $195 (before tax), and none of that was ever told to me. The tech rushed, and mentioned several times how I'm the last client of the day and she'd had a long day. She was pleasant, not rude, she made conversation, very personable. But not impressed with the lack of transparency.

When making a new appointment you should expect to wait; everyone is very booked up but definitely worth the wait! Dimitra fixed my messy mane after a new colourist took over after my old colourist moved to the UK. I always sit down and just ask her to fix my hair and she always knows what to do and makes it look beautiful. Joe cuts my hair without only ever taking off just as much as is needed and doesn't over style or use to many products. The receptionist are sweet, friendly and very efficient. Love love love this place!
