(I did see one but it had empty boxes in it and I was told I couldn't use it -- that it's not for "store" use.) I was purchasing a number of smaller items and several large/awkward things such as a big bag of potting soil, a large pot, a bag of dog foo, and a big package of tp. I asked, not rudely, how I could get it all to my car and the cashier said, haughtily, that I would just have to make multiple trips. Ironically, I spent a bit of money in this store. I likely would have spent more if there had been a shopping cart and I hadn't been made to feel so unwelcome. if this store has a preferred customer base, I would have liked to have known I was unwelcome before I spent my money there. It was made abundantly clear when I was though and I won't be back.

I've worked at a DG before and it was way more torn up than this store with about half the foot traffic. Its a lot of work to manage at they keep it relatively together on a weekly basis. Only complaint really is the lack of shopping carts at times but that has more to do with the customers not being courteous by returning their carts when done.

I've never bought frozen food here that wasn't so over frozen and freezer burnt that I was able to…read morecook it. All of their freezers are so crap. Some leak constantly or don't have a good seal on the doors, so they just crank them all up. So some things are not cold enough and everything else so cold that it is ruined before you bring it home. And from how the other reviews look, I doubt I could ever get a refund with jumping through a million hoops or straight up just getting told no. The produce is covered in flies and I've found myself buying extra because I know I'll be disappointed in quality once I get home and cut into it. Some prices are a little better than the grocery stores near my house, but I've thrown away so much money shopping here. They promote it as they "classic" or "historic" Circle Food Store, but it's obvious Sidney Torres doesn't care about preserving whatever importance this store once held. It's dirty all over. I'd never buy meat or fish from the butcher. The amount of flies and bugs in produce travel over to the meat department and land on the fresh food in the display chases. So only shop here if you don't need anything fresh or frozen. And even then check the dates on whatever you buy. I feel like I'm throwing away money when I shop here. However much money I save, I just throw away in food when I try to cook it A rat could run a cleaner and better store than Sydney Torres

I mainly go just to buy fruit but I took pictures of other things they had. It's more like a healthier grocery boutique by a German based company. I will say that I have noticed at different stores, the prices are drastically different per demographic areas. For example, I went to the store on Vets in Metairie and a family pack of chicken legs (drumsticks) was only $5 and some change. I went to the store in Algiers and they didn't offer the family pack of the same item, only 1/4 pack and the price was close to $6. I went to the Gretna store and their prices matched Vets prices. Very odd. In all the stores, I've been to, there's always one cashier and no self checkout stations except in Marrero. Overall, it's a pretty good place to shop for certain items but you're certainly not going to find your beloved Cajun foods or spices here.
