I concur with some of the previous posts, in other words this isn't the real enchilada, not even close. I didn't have high expectations, as it looked a bit sketchy with a dated coffee shop decor. The beef taco I was served was like no other taco I've ever had, the shell was fried and puffed out, while the beef was simply ground beef, with a pile of lettuce, cheese and salsa. The Chile relleno was hidden under a pile of cheese and sauce, there was far more sauce, it was hideous. The service was fine. The problem is the quality of the food, as well as the recipes seem to evoke the kind of Mexican food only found today in carnivals or at some random cafeteria. Taco John's (apparently a regional fast food chain) actually has far better cuisine than La Cocina could dream of. C'mon guys you can do better. read more

My family has been regular customers of LaCocina for twenty years or more, since their small restaurant was in Mills. We recently placed a take out order. I was really shocked at the price of 5 dinners and asked why the price was so much more. The waiter said that they were making their meals bigger, so they raised their prices. The meals weren't any bigger, and our entrees were missing the lettuce and tomatoes that they usually come with. I am not so sure we will be returning. :( read more

Let's start with... I'm at a Mexican restaurant in Casper Wyoming, the central hub for Mexican food. That being said dripping with sarcasm. The chips were probably really good, 2 days ago. They were stale. I asked my server about some of the dishes on the menu. He could really only tell me the diameter of the plate and high the food was piled on it. When my order came out it looked like slop. Soggy greasy mess. But it didn't taste awful. But it wasn't the best. I've had twice as much, for half the price before. In better places. Btw... The server would always ask me how I was doing. Which was good to get the attention. But you should to my table and ask. Versus yelling it across the room. Half the time I wasn't even sure if he was talking to me. Just weird read more

Stopped by this place on the way through Casper seemed to have decent reviews, however our experience was quite poor. It took at least 20 min to give our order then another hour to get our food by time it came you could tell it had been sitting there for her server was extremely slow and the food was so-so at best. Has been a long time favorite of ours in Casper. Food and service are always good. I wish they would go back to the old menu though. The prices have gone way up and they don't have the selection they previously had. We will still dine here, but probably not as often. read more

We had a really pleasant experience at La Cocina. We checked into the Days Inn and headed right there--not expecting too much. But we were greeted by a very friendly waiter (whos family owns the restaurant), served chips with salsa & beans (yum), and had an overall great meal. For a person with a wheat allergy, there's too much here that is wheat-laden, that would not be in a proper Mexican restaurant. Tacos and enchiladas made with flour tortillas. Flour in the sauces. They did make me something that was wheat-free, and it was okay, but would have been more flavorful with a sauce that I could eat. read more

This was a pretty sub par place. We stopped here because we were starving and everything around us was closed on a Sunday in Casper. It was mediocre ingredients and the service was...odd. The waitress was in such a hurry (even though it wasn't that busy) that she dropped water in the salsa and it splashed me in the eye. WORST MEXICAN FOOD & CUSTOMER SEVICE EVER!!! After reading reviews, we decided to try this restaurant. We were promptly seated. Greeted by our server almost too quickly so we didn't have a chance to even look at the menu to see what kind of drinks were available. The server came back too quick to see if we were ready to order. She seemed almost impatient- which we overheard later that she was off as soon as we left. We didn't get any suggestions on ordering which was frustrating since we were from out of town. Received our food. Server did not refill the chips. The guac was not very good. My salad was lettuce, a cut up chicken strip, about a teaspoon of cheese and a few pieces of tomato. Not great! The fajitas were ok definitely not great either. It was really a bad experience based on the customer service and the subpar food. If in Casper, I would avoid this place. A fast food Mexican place would have been better! This was probably the worst margarita I've had in my life! I left half of it after forcing myself to drink after the first sip! The refritoes, red sauce and chicken cheese enchiladas were very good. The rice was one mushy mess. Someone should tell them that mashed avocados and chunks of tomatoes do not guacamole make! Would never return. read more

Food wise, our favorite Mexican place in town. I only deducted a star because of their choice of location. It seems they are situated to cater primarily to interstate travelers. Unfortunate. This is a non chain, local restaurant serving very good food, so it should be in the downtown or better yet, the Old Yellowstone District. First off the service was great! I ordered the carne Asada plate and it was ehhhhh. The seasoning on the steak was pretty good but a little over cooked. The rice was some of the worst Mexican rice I've tasted; mushy and bland. That was the theme of this place: bland. read more

Came here a couple of days ago. I ordered Carne Asada. It was not good at all. The meat was obviously boiled and drenched in parsley or some kind of herbs. Spanish rice did not taste like it should, tasted like plain rice. My husband ordered the Indian Taco. When it came out it looked more like a Tostada. I have been eating at this establishment since it was located at in Mills. For Wyoming this is the BEST Mexican food ever. The staff is always wonderful and if I ever have any questions regarding anything, all I have to do is ask. The owner is a great person and cares about not only his business but paying customers as well. After reading some of these reviews today, I was a little disturbed to see some of them. If you want real Mexican food, then go to Mexico or Texas...and if you don't care for this atmosphere then don't come back.
