I don't quite understand the 2.5 stars overall rating. Tonight was my first time here. I had two Mexican style chicken tacos, along with their homemade verde salsa, they were delicious. I sat in the bar, it's big and has lots of TVs to watch the game and $1.99 domestic drafts! I'll be back for sure. read more

Lunch time-Mexican lunch time! Good place for lunch, warm chips and spicy salsa =Equals ladies lunch date. Plenty of tvs up high all on sports channels. I enjoy La Cocina, buttttt today the vibe from everyone was the chips had a burnt taste to them ‍ service was good (plentyk of employees standing around on there cell phones) the food is portioned nicely, however the chicken in the chicken quesadilla had a not so good taste to it. Huge location I called to get reservations for a party of 18. They stated they don't do reservations. No Way!!! We all arrived and waited for 70-minutes for space. We had one dedicated worker and he Rocked!!! He didn't miss anything...and we offered cupcakes to the staff. Everyone enjoyed their food. Queso dip is always good!! On our way to the mountains we decided to enjoy a Mexican lunch at this easily accessible location from the interstate on our way to Fancy Gap, VA. Beautiful outdoor patio with both sunny and shady spots available socially distanced and with a fountain view. Unfortunately also a view of construction in the parking lot along with lots of dust being kicked up. Service was a bit slow. Menu has lots of options. Restaurant wasn't busy, but service was mediocre. We got chips & salsa right away and then they took our drink order. It took at least 10 minutes to get drinks. My husband ordered a margarita and water, but they never brought the water. It took at least 15 minutes to take our food order. However, food came quickly. Everything fried tasted good, but the ground meat in the enchilada could've used a tad more seasoning. read more

This location of La Cocina just opened a week or 2 ago, they have other locations around the area, this is La Cocina #11. The new building is super nice, they have lots of booth seating along with some tables and they also have an outdoor bar and patio area. This is actually the first La Cocina I have visited. The menu has many options, they have many of the speedy numbered lunch specials like most Mexican restaurants do. I stopped by for lunch and I had the Pollo Chipotle. This dish was grilled strips of chicken and onions covered in a creamy chipotle sauce with rice, a pico de Gallo salad and warm tortillas, I chose corn tortillas. I asked for some hot sauce and they brought out a little bowl of their homemade red sauce that gave the dish the kick and spiciness I was looking for. Not a negative thing to say about my visit, the service was very fast, Oscar was a great waiter, drinks along with chips n salsa were on the table within a few minutes of being seated, my order was out in about 10 minutes, Oscar checked in at the table multiple times to make sure all was well. The food was great as was the service. Definitely will teturn to this newly oprned La Cocina. read more

I came there yesterday, with my husband for a margarita and some food...I ordered a strawberry FROZEN margarita. We get both of them, not only were they watery they also tasted funny. I had 3 sips. Our food came, I hadn't eaten all day. I'm starving, we get our food, I couldn't even take two bites out of my food. I was feeling nauseous and very unsettling. My husband finishes his food, we leave, the whole ride home I'm on the edge of vomiting.. around 10:00 pm I woke up projectile vomiting and having really really awful stomach cramps. I've had food poisoning in the past, so I knew immediately when I felt how I did. I woke up that morning in pain, constant diarrhea and constant vomiting all day. (Currently sick as a dog) We call the restaurant and they said they needed a doctors note. The first manager spoke to my husband on the phone and said he would give us refund no issue, he gets to the restaurant and it's an issue and a problem, so much hostility from the GM was not even trying to hear what's going on, very defensive. Long story short, their margarita mix is contaminated ect, because I drink margaritas all the time, never in my life have I felt so sick off a MARGARITA!!!! My wife told her that was wrong and she quickly ran in the back! A man came from the back and preceded to do the same exact thing. My wife told him off. And how did he respond? Went for a late lunch after a disastrous experience at a different Burlington restaurant (not a La Cocina), and we were in and out in less than 40 minutes. The chips are good but salsa is not memorable. I ordered a veggie burrito, and I would order it again - loaded with veggies and exactly what I wanted. One of the worst Mexican dining experience in my life. It started out with the host taking my wife's drink order. The host proceeded to walk away without taking my drink order. It did not stop there. 1). I ordered a combo with Burrito / enchilada/ combo. Very disappointed. You could not tell the difference between the Burrito and the enchilada. They were two enchiladas 2) My wife order chicken enchilada suiza. It was not chicken enchilada suiza. Normally authentic chicken enchilada suiza comes with a cream white and green sauce. My wife's chicken enchilada suiza came with a red tomato based sauce. We asked the host if this was chicken suiza questioning the red sauce. She said yes. Oh well. We are never going back here. La-casino south church st Burlington NC tonight is the first night I had gotten food through carry out since coronavirus. I WONT do that again I live 30 mins from restaurant so my son in law picked up food it was completely WRONG. I had to go all the way back to get our order and when it got to the house it is still wrong. When you ask for plain that means plan. SO I called back the manager was rude he wanted us to bring the food back which wasn't the issue. The issue was they would be closed by the time I get there !!! 38.00 dollars down the drain. They charged me $2.90 for a 1/4 filled container of green salsa, $2.90 for a 1/4 filled container of hot salsa (I did not order), and provided me with only one chili pepper. We ordered our food and my husband got a crab quesadilla, my mother in law got fries with ranch and I got an ACP with shrimp and chicken. We ordered cheese dip as an appetizer. My husband's quesadillas came out and it was beef instead of crab. My mother in law did not get her ranch and the cheese dip didn't come out until we asked them about it AFTER our food got there. When they opened a few years ago it was such a great place but it has gone down hill so much. The last 3 times we have come here it has been a disaster so we are no longer coming to this establishment. The only decent thing about this place was Esteban. We went to this La Cocina location at 4:30 on a Sunday afternoon. Upon parking you could see that most tables on the patio area were available. Only 3 tables were seated with patrons eating. However when we entered the restaurant and asked for an outside table, we were told there would be a 20-25 minute wait for a table inside or outside, even though there were very few tables inside being used either. The hostess said they had only 3 waitresses. Seems like very poor management, and even though the food is consistently good, it will definitely be a while before I return. read more

More like a beef stew chimichanga. I specifically asked for no "red sauce" (which is just salsa) and it was doused in it making the chimi soggy. The rice had zero flavor and the beans were almost a light gray. We asked for place settings when we got there and they brought us 2 for 4 people. Never go here! The manager and staff are beyond rude. We visited here last night for my brother's birthday dinner with a party of 6 people. To start things off we arrive and put our name on the list after being told it would be a 50 minute wait. We were very understanding being that it was a Friday night. We asked to wait in our car since it was such a long wait and there were a lot of customers. The host said only if we could park right out front (there wasn't any parking right out front due to how busy they were). She offered some wooden chairs which I said no that we would sit on the bench with some cushioning. It was right behind a short wall divider which separated us from the host stand. After waiting an hour with no end in sight I went to the host stand to just let her know where we were sitting because I was afraid she couldn't see us. I looked on the seating arrangement chart and where I noticed her write my name before, was blank. She had erased our name thinking we left. She went into panic mode to find us some seating. We finally were seated after an hour and fifteen minutes. The waitress took our drink order and brought chips. We got our drinks and let her know the other two guests in the group would be arriving soon. We ended up giving her our order which did arrive quickly and fresh thank goodness. But one member of our party received his with a very long hair in his food. We told our waitress and she said okay and walked away. She spoke very little English so I don't think she even understood what we said. About ten minutes later the bartender came over to our booth and asked what was wrong. We told him and he said okay and walked away. The guest never got to eat his meal because it was in his first bite that he pulled this giant hair from his mouth. No one ever offered to bring him a fresh meal or offered any solution to the problem. We only got one refill during our entire three hour eventful night which we had to ask for to begin with. When it was time to pay the waitress couldn't get our tickets correct and had the wrong things on each others tickets. They also tried to charge him for his meal. When the wife of said guest talked to the waitress she stated that she wouldn't be paying for the meal because her husband didn't even get to eat it due to the hair in his first bite. She walked away. Then the bartender came back over and asked what was going on. We told him that she didn't want to pay because of the hair in the food and no one brought him a fresh meal. They got very upset with us and finally brought the manager over. She was extremely rude from the minute she arrived. She rolled her eyes and thought we were lying and told us she has cameras. We told her to run them and watch the husband pull the hair from his mouth. She went back and forth with us for over 15 minutes before finally coming up to the wife with a new ticket where she removed the meal. When we went to pay everyone gave us awful looks and they were cussing about us behind the register. Needless to say NEVER GO HERE!!!!! read more
