Decor and bobcat pride!!

10/10 good people with great and quick service. Delicious food even tho prices have risen over the years due to inflation. The decor is so cute and cozy, a very welcoming restaurant. Strongly recommend the bravo burrito, California burrito and the Carne Asada fries

Unremarkable....Don't mean to be mean but the rice was mushy, the beans weren't very hot and as you can see in the photo the cheese didn't even melt a little. $24 for two place as posted and shared one coke. The lady behind the counter was very nice and the atmosphere was authentic. Was actually quite busy at lunch.

Not trying to do a la cocina vs yilbertos but I tried yilbertos first and it was pretty good, a little dry but good, then I came to la cocina and in my opinion I think this spot is better. I have only had a Cali burrito from them both and the one at la cocina was better, I wish they had a habanero salsa but that's a different topic. Going to try other items and see how they come out but as of now this will be my go to spot in Anza .

Love this little place. It's a little place in Anza that has the best tortas and tacos and burritos. And yes, they have a taco Tuesday!

The Bravo burrito was excellent. Also the torta. They have beer. I'll definitely be back on the way to Hemet lake or Idylwild.

Idyllwild, sitting above 5,000 feet, presents a stark contrast to the low desert region of the Colardo desert where Palm Springs is located. On recommendation of a local shop owner we chose La Casita for lunch. It is located in a quaint venue that looks nothing like a Mexican restaurant. The articture is what I would call mountain cabin, with much of the walls and ceiling covered in pine with a large rock fireplace. The food was excellent as was the service. I ordered a chili releno ala carte and it was excellent. Jan ordered the tamale dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it. They serve Roberto's jalapeño and olive oil sauce. Roberto's Sauce is a vegan, and gluten-free, Peruvian aji amarillo-inspired hot sauce with a unique Japanese influence, featuring fresh jalapeno and serrano chilis. Very nice! We purchased a bottle in the restrauant and it is available on line. If you are ever in Palm Spring I recommend a trip to Idyllwild and a mea at La Casita.

The parking lot is small, so you might be parking on the street. There's plenty of street parking. SERVICE 5-stars Great service. Host. Food runners. Wait staff. All did great despite being slammed at lunch service. FOOD This is average good. Seems like some canned or frozen vegetables. Rice was not particularly exciting - a bit on the dry side. BEANS were well seasoned. Olive oil & Jalepeno salsa was 5 stars! Portions are Generous. VEGAN from Vegetarian menu. Most offerings in their vegetarian section can be made vegan by asking for "no dairy" Steamed chicken was tender, but no flavor. Their salsa (olive oil + jalepeno) saved the chicken. The outdoor patio is a lovely way to spend the afternoon. They allow pets outside on the patio. You may have to wait for tables along the edge to open up. PRICE You are a tourist supporting this beautiful little town. Enjoy eating out if you're in the mood for some touristy Mexican faire. Close to the center of town by foot.

Service was amazing, so quick to come out with fresh chips and salsa (FRESH! as in they made the chips in-house... rare trait to come by these days IMO). Quantity of food was incredible. I can't speak for the menudo (dad got this) or for the 3 egg platter (not really sure why my mom got this) but $16 for a carne asada burrito as well as the beans, rice, and veggies on the side was such a steal. Especially in Anza Borrego. I would've thought it would maybe be more expensive since it probably costs a lot to bring out the best ingredients in the desert but somehow they have it all figured out. The carne asada burrito meat was top tier. Smoky flavor, soft with charred edges, so flavorful and overall the quantity of the burrito was way more than I was expecting. Lastly, I'm just so happy my dog got to sit outside with us. They have a shaded patio with a couple tables. I think other pet parents followed suit, as this seems to be a hit for dog-friendly spots here in Anza Borrego. I'd highly recommend. What a great find by me. Go me!! This is truly a hole in the wall that needs more recognition. You won't be let down!

We sat outside by the fountain, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. We didn't realize until later that we arrived just half an hour before closing, but the staff made us feel completely welcome, and there was no rush. Everything was delicious, and we all left feeling completely full and happy. We were so impressed that we ordered a second round of margaritas, and the highlight of the meal was definitely the salsa--spicy, flavorful, and full of character. LOCATION: In Old Town La Quinta, OTLQ easy to find, tons of parking but at times it gets busy so you may have to walk a bit. FACILITY: very traditional inside and out, clean, and lots of space between tables. MENU: rather massive, we usually order the same things so all the other options makes my head hurt so we just go with what we know. FOOD PREP: excellent, always looks the same which is a good things. FOOD QUALITY: some of the best in the valley. LIBATIONS: lots of choices and not too expensive, wish they had a locals city of LQ discount like some of the other options in OTLQ.. WAITSTAFF: very nice, everyone. OVERALL VALUE: if you order the right things, it is a great value but you can go nuts and spend a lot, tourist dollars spend well, upselling happens for those who want it and deserve it! TIP: Sitting outside is great most all year, we don't go out when it is crazy hot, but have dined outside in 100+ temps, we prefer the front outdoor space.

*Mi Casa es Su Casa*…read more My buddy had a small casual bday get-together with his family and invited me to join the celebration. I saw all the favorable reviews on Yelp and was looking forward to my first visit at Casa Mendoza. Very chill & lively family owned Mexican joint in Old Town LQ. The place was kinda busy @6:30pm on Hump Night ~~ always a great sign when I see this. Felt more like a Sunday Evening. It took an hour to receive our meals. Ordered @6:45 arrived @7:45pm. Good thing the Chimichanga & Gauc apps arrived pretty quickly. The Gauc was Excellente. All their food was very good. But all our meals arrived cold/lukewarm. Took forever to receive our food and we knew for a fact it's because all our plates sat a while until we were served. The actual plates weren't even warm and the sizzling fajitas had sizzled out and lost its dazzle. Because it was still 95 degrees when dinner was finally served, our lukewarm meals were doable on a hot night. Everyone did enjoy their meals tho. I was very pleased with my Mahi Mahi in Garlic Butter Sauce. The refried beans were outstanding. The rice very good...and I made tacos with the 3 corn tortillas. But would have enjoyed it even more had all the food been a little warmer. I stuck with H2O but all margarita drinkers said their drinks were good and hit the spot on a warm night. The service in general was also inconsistent for our small party of 8. The Birthday Boy was a little frustrated and got up a few times from his throne seeking assistance -- such as missing tortillas for meals, water refills, extra napkins. We even had to wait longer than anticipated for them to acknowledge the bday boy with a celebratory bday song & sombrero...and the fried ice cream, which didn't include a candle. Tho we all enjoyed ourselves and time together...a 2 hour dinner at a Mexican joint on a Wednesday night wasn't what we anticipated. Especially with one restless 7 year old ;-) But everyone working at Casa Mendoza is very friendly with great attitudes. Hostess team, waiters, servers & runners too. So that made up for the spotty service, just a little bit. Since I'm closer to the other Casa Mendoza in Palm Desert, I'd go there in the future with my wife, and order the exact same thing. But hope for much better service and warmer food.
