I came across this place by mistake, we had actually had reservations for a much more formal restaurant but it turned out we didn't. So, we strolled in, at around 9 and were greeted instantly with a table for 4 downstairs in a cozy spot in the corner. (Don't judge it by it's upstairs, the restaurant is past the corner.
The service all night was impeccable, and the longest wait all night was for the cheque! But not only the servers but the food.
When you walk in, you see all different types of colorful foods on sparkling clean white plates and it dazzles you. For starters, we had the cod balls in batter, which melt divinely in your mouth, the fried egg with shrimp and potatoes (we only found the egg after indulging in the shrimp and taters), fried spring rolls, which came with an excellent dip, squid and broad beans (a brilliant combination) and the highly popular tomato bread (the amount going past us could've sunk the Titanic). All i would recommend highly, especially the cod balls.
Full yet still ravenous, our main courses came. I ordered the fillet steak medium-rare with a herb-mixed sauce, as did many others around me and for good reason, as it was tender and perfect. Ribs were also on offer (my one complaint being not enough meat on the bone) as were calamari (perhaps the best I have ever tasted).
But don't even think you're too stuffed for dessert; they are exceptional! Creme brulee, profiteroles with hot chocolate sauce, cream cake and lemon sorbet, all winners in their own way.
Truthfully, this is now my favorite restaurant in Barcelona and would come here every meal if i could afford it. It's reasonable for main dishes but the desserts are killer, even if they are fabulous.
