Cute shop but if you enjoy fine quality, do not spend $3 each on the pretty truffles. Not good at all. Two were actually bitter. Waste of money. Nice man though. read more

We have been going to the Chocolate Box for years. After biking down from Stockton and having lunch in L'ville, we often would stop in the CB for a tasty dessert! (I was the one who started the wire ties around the electric wire!) read more

Fantastic chocolate shop! Original and special. The chocolates are lovely and they have lots of other options. My go to for gifts too.

Cute place, a little small and selection was limited. Bought some peanut butter meltaways, raspberry truffles, caramels and caramel marshmallow. All are delicious. A bit pricey. Staff was super friendly. read more

Overpriced for what it is. We were there during the week in the early afternoon to see Halloween displays in town, and the woman who helped us acted as though we were inconveniencing her with our presence. It was the only store in town that wasn't welcoming and friendly. Not worth the price for that type of attitude. read more

We stopped into this cute, charming little candy shop and we are so glad we did! The name of the store is La Chocolate Box but there are so many other types of candy too! There are unique gummy bear flavors like mango and wild cherry flavors. The gummy bears are so much softer than regular gummy bears (almost like a chewy jello!) and the flavors are more pronounced. There's also many other things like hot cocoa powder and nougats. We bought the Carlier almond soft nougat ($6) and it was really delicious! We also bought a bag of gummy bears and chocolate covered pretzels. They were all good! read more

We couldn't resist stopping at La Chocolate Box last week when we were in Lambertville ... and we purchased great French chocolates that we had tonight for a Halloween treat. The chocolates were superb. The shop is small but charming. Service is great. read more

This is my favorite shop for chocolate in all of NJ. The place is beautiful and I love the selection. My husband and I often make a trip here from Princeton when we're craving chocolate. I buy a few to eat right away, but it's also great for gifts. The quality of their chocolate is phenomenal and they always have unique specialty flavors in addition to the classics. read more

Cute little candy shop with an assortment of fun chocolates and gummies! I bought Mint Chocolate Malt Balls and large nonpareils. They have various flavored truffles and other malt balls, "sushi meal" gummies, traditional chocolates, and sour flavored gummies. They also sell Bassett's ice cream. read more

We were wandering around Lambertville, digesting our lunch, when we came across this adorable chocolate shop. I wasn't expecting to find anything, but I noticed they had some vegan-friendly chocolate from other companies on the shelves, and some dark chocolate truffle options in the case. There was a friendly man working behind the counter, and when he became free, I asked him if he happened to have any dairy-free truffles. "All of the ones with a green label are made without milk." That was half the case! My eyes went wide. "Are they all vegan?!" "Some have honey in them, but these are vegan." One was a champagne truffle with a bit of gold leaf flecked on top, and my heart was won over. I had to have it. I haven't had a champagne truffle in over 7 years, but it was worth the wait. It was so decadent and special. I'd happily return to try more chocolate next time I'm in the area! read more

We must have come on an off day, since this review will not be very complimentary. The first issue is the extremely high prices. But even if you pay a premium price for delectable chocolates, the taste should be outstanding. Well, the 3 different varieties we purchased were not very good at all. read more

Thank you for being such a wonderful presence to this town all year round! Truly a special place.

This is the cutest chocolate shop I've ever been in. I've been a fan of the dark chocolate almond bark for years now. They always have interesting chocolates that you can't find anywhere else. The store is adorable and the service is helpful without being obtrusive. This is a great place to buy a gift. They will really work with you to help you find the perfect chocolates for you, and they are always willing to let you sample items. The shop isn't pretentious like some other chocolatiers I've visited in DC or NY. A gem of a place. read more

Loved my Valentine's Day chocolates from my sweetie. All dark chocolates perfectly filled with wonderful fillings. For a few years I work in Lambertville, NJ and found the Chocolate Box on one of my walks. Now we live in the Florida Keys and every year Tom has a box of Chocolate Box chocolates sent to us. Thank you Craig for helping him and packing them in Ice after all the temps have been in the 80's and sunshine all week. read more

I stumbled upon The Chocolate Box's website (splash page) on a mission to find a certain Vosges Haute Chocolat candy bar. So I made it a point to spent the day in Lambertville exploring the place I had overlooked in the past. You can only imagine how excited I arrived at my destination. No sooner had the welcome bell sang when the smell of chocolate hit me when I opened the door. The Chocolate Box is a world in itself filled with homemade, imported confections, and then some. The owner was very knowledgeable and friendly to talk to about her merchandise which made my visit all the more special. Each wall in the shop is devoted to something non-chocolate (like tea, the naughty section with edible underwear, and even chocolate beauty products to name a few). The chocolates on display behind the counter, though, steal the show. With my Vosges chocolate bar and chocolate body scrub in hand, I left with the biggest smile on my face and a promise to return. read more

Not only is the interior of this store gorgeous but so is the lady who is behind the counter! I am talking gilded and mirrored beauty. Impeccable taste abounds. A selection of chocolate and treats not found anywhere near or far, and believe me, I've been all around the Bucks County/Lambertville area. read more

I came here with my mother and uncle this past week. I was VERY impressed and would return based on my experience. This place was very clean and fun inside. The customer service was extremely friendly as well. My mother and I ordered the caramel chocolates and they were to die for! We only got two pieces but wish we bought more. We also purchased two milk chocolate truffles which were very delicious as well. They were a bit rich but just because I can't eat things too rich. But even a bite was perfect enough. All in all, everything was amazing. I would return without hesitation. read more

La Chocolate Box - Candy Stores Near Me - Lambertville, New Jersey

While the chocolate is exquisite, the customer service is certainly lacking. ...I went there twice to get a1 lb box of assorted chocolates for the holidays and was told that it would take 25-30 minutes to make up. Please....how can it take that long to fill a small square box? When I went the second time I was told I should have ordered it ahead. .. I think if they are that popular you should have them made up before hand. ..it's never that busy in there... I settled on a small box of chocolates that were hand selected. I didn't even want to get a lb at that point. They were basically just thrown in a box and looked awful. Also the prices on some of the imported pieces went up 75%... I think I'll be purchasing from another local chocolate boutique sans the attitude and price. Sorry Chocolate Box...we're done. read more

I recently found this little chocolate shop on a side street in historic Lambertville. Located just across the river from New Hope and Bucks County, PA, this town is a yuppie mecca filled with little shops. Surprisingly for the area, the prices for the chocolates were on par with other chocolate shops we have visited and just as important, they were delicious and rich in flavor! We bought a small sample to take home to enjoy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: 3/2011: While the chocolates are good, service leaves something to be desired. On my second visit there, the manager waited on me. I was about to start my order when she allowed some other woman who had just arrived, to interrupt with her order. This was done without any kind of apology or excuse from either woman. My wife and I were speechless. Plus, I believe there was a second incident that day where this manager put us off to go do something before finally taking our order. I guess one could chalk it up to the Jersey culture, but it seemed downright rude to me. We decided there are other chocolate shops out there that are more deserving of our business. Because of this experience, I am downgrading this to 2 stars. read more

As a local I have the pleasure and convenience of stopping weekly for my chocolate "fix". The chocolates are wide in variety and delicious. I was never much of a chocolatee afficionado, always satisfied with a good old Hersheys....then I tasted the chocolate box's chocolates. Try the dark bark, the turtles and the extra large non-pareil. I'm hooked! It's pricey and worth the money. read more

So, the store has lots of chocolates, but I was upset they dont actually make any of them in house - they get some locally (newtown) and some are international, but not local. There were some great flavor combos, but the first that I have tried, a fig balsamic truffle, was nothing special. Here's to hoping the tiramisu, irish cream, rum truffles are better! The pistachio paste dark chocolate is great, as was the rum truffle! super rummy! So my hopes are looking up! read more

Great chocolate. Got a box for my mother for her birthday, and we've been in heaven ever since. Also gave her some caramels and got gummy bears for myself, all of which were delectable. I wouldn't call this too pricey, but I've moved from Los Angeles, and I'm comparing to there where chocolate shops charge $5+ per truffle. At $2 per truffle, Chocolate Box is pretty inexpensive to me. read more

Pretty store, with a wide range of delicious chocolates...

Upon walking through the door you're brought into a whole different world. The decor is great and there is stuff everywhere. The woman working was very cool and very helpful. To say I love this place is an understatement. It is an integral part of my life; I eat Chocolate Box chocolate every day! Not only is the shop incredible eye candy, the owner is an absolute darling and the chocolates amazing. I usually stock up on some per-pound pieces and a handful of specialty treats. Recommendations from a pro: walnut caramel clusters, the little "mushrooms," dark chocolate-covered marshmallows, dark chocolate-covered lemon peel, and the bagged truffles in the tiered rack on the check-out counter. I could go on, of course, but, honestly, I'd end up naming most everything in the shop. A trip to Lville without a stop here would be a crime. It's our sweet town's sweetest attraction. read more

This rating is not for the chocolate, which was good (though not house-made, a disappointment) or the store itself, which was beautiful inside and impeccably clean, with all the candies attractively displayed. No, this review is for you, madam, the clerk behind the counter around 1 pm on August 29th, 2013. Yes, you were condescending and rude to my mother and me, so much, in fact, that I do not plan on visiting your store ever again. Me: (pointing to something labelled 'truffle fudge squares') So, this is a truffle- Clerk: (superciliously, as if I'm illiterate) No. That's fudge. Me:.....oh. (a moment later) Me: (glancing at the price of another candy, I see it's the same PRICE as those fudge squares) Oh, so this one is the same- Clerk: (coldly cutting me off before I can finish the sentence) NO. That is NOT the same, this is a GANACHE. (she then explains what ganache is.) Listen, madam, if you are reading this now, my mother and I have master's degrees and legal experience up the wazoo. You have no right to talk to us like we are 'the unwashed' and DARED to ask you questions and spend money in your store.I hope your Oompa-Loompas turn on you in a gobstopper-fueled rage, or all the children you capture escape from your oven, forcing you into a life of starvation. Love and kisses, An unsatisfied customer. read more

Absolutely delicious chocolates, and the nicest owner! I definitely recommend stopping by when you're in town!

This store is so unique! They have the favorites: dark and milk chocolate nut clusters, truffles, chocolate covered pretzels, etc., but the real highlights are the specialties. They have chocolates that are so pretty they look as if they've been painted, flavors that are incredibly unique and interesting (i.e. earl gray, chipotle, lavender) and baggies of delights such as champagne jelly beans. They are a bit pricey, but I feel like you are getting what you pay for: unique candies that make a perfect gift. Today, my mom and I both picked up gifts for friends and Craig arranged them adorably in their boxes and decorated them with colorful ribbons. This is my go-to spot for my friends and family who love candy. (I'd be lying if I said I didn't get a piece for myself, too.) read more
