We were passing through Culpepper so I consulted my fellow Yelpers to see what might be good for lunch. Found the highly rated La Chiapaneca - my Yelpers are never wrong. Delicious Mexican served out of a food truck with lots of shady picnic tables to enjoy your lunch. We tried a cheese and bean puposa- a steal at $3, a quesadilla, some tacos, the white queso and guacamole. Everything was fresh and home made. The guacamole had a nice lemon or lime tang to it. I am a queso fan, this was some of the best I've had and was only $1. We absolutely loved it and will be back! read more

So I'd been looking forward to trying this place out due to word of mouth but I was a little disappointed. It was not bad but it was also, for me not up to the hype I'd received. The biggest problem? Seasoning...it tasted like the meat, with the exception of the carnitas, didn't taste like anything. The nachos: the spicy jalapeños on the cheese overpowered everything else...I wish it had pico instead of tomatoes just to brighten it. It was just ok. I wish I'd gotten sour cream. The tacos: , carnitas, al pastor: the shell clearly homemade, not bad but falling apart. Again not bad but missing seasonings. Pupusa: bean/cheese, pork/cheese, cheese, the masa was perfect composition and tasty. Again the seasoning are lacking for our taste. I don't know if I'd travel to go back but if you are in the area check them out and make your own assessment. We want to encourage folks to support family owned local businesses. read more

Culpeper has really been surprising me lately with the awesome Mexican food. This was my first time at La Chiapaneca, which is a food truck but they do have seating outside. You can't sit at the tables right now because of everything going on with COVID-19 but once that is over I'm sure they'll allow seating again. They have the typical Mexican food truck menu like tacos, tortas, etc. but I was happy to see pupusas on there which is a Salvadoran dish. We ordered carne asada tacos, a pupusa, and there steak fries. Everything was so good! My favorite thing were the fries. The meat and cheese on the fries was just so flavorful. I will definitely be back for those. Now the reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because the tortilla for the tacos were not cooked all the way through. The tacos were good don't get me wrong, the meat was really well seasoned but the tortilla could have been left on the griddle a bit longer. It wasn't raw but definitely needed a bit more heat. They would have for sure gotten 5 stars if the tortillas were cooked longer. Overall I think this food truck has great food and I definitely recommend it. read more

I tried their steak tacos and pupusas. The tacos are not authentic Mexican- the tortilla is way too thick and would break as soon as I would pick up my taco to eat. The steak was cut into almost inch size cubes- which is not how taco meat is prepared. The Salvadoran food, pupusa, was better, had good taste. read more

I went there today and the lady was coughing in the back and I ask the guy taking the order if she is ok with the current pandemic. He said the pandemic is a hoax and he does not wear a mask and has never worn a mask and he has never been sick. Well, I watch them make my food, but I will NEVER go back again!!! I use to go there at least once a week and the quality of food has gone down also. The beef and pork has been fatty and with the carelessness on safety around food. La Chiapaneca is amazing. For years, I've been looking for non-Americanized Central American food, and I found it in a food truck in Culpeper, VA. I love how they have a focused menu of familiar items, like tacos, gorditas, burritos, nachos, and more - not to mention the cheese fries that are ridiculously awesome. They offer a choice of chicken, beef, al pastor, & carnitas, all amazingly & authentically seasoned & prepared. Also noteworthy - their tortillas are homemade. I love the seating area they have set up outside of the food truck - it makes you feel like you're not in Culpeper anymore. Maybe it's the festive ambient lighting, or the welcoming atmosphere? You really have to go to experience it. If all continues as it has for La Chiapaneca's, they will need to expand before long. read more

My boyfriend kept telling me how amazing this food truck is so I finally got a chance to try them out. We went a week ago and honestly I fell in love with their food. Boyfriend and I ordered 3 al pastor tacos 1 carne asada taco , al pastor nachos, and a cubana torta. Let's just say we couldn't walk after. Everything was SO fresh, SO good, and SO filling. This is seriously the best Mexican food in the area. Authentic. I love their sopas and chicken flautas. Their white queso and gauc are also amazing with some chips. The thing that I cannot get over is that is is fresh, really nice sized portions, and only $3-5 for most meals. Was hyped when I saw the truck after I read the reviews....I will go back and try another item but the Torta con asada was mediocre at best - gristly, sorry guys. I will upgrade this if I need to. UPGRADED - Clearly I ordered the wrong thing prior.....this time it was chicken tacos and a chicken quesadilla. I'm for the south west and that means I've had a lot of real Latin food. This chicken is perfectly seasoned in a marinated with lime and garlic with plenty of cilantro on top....IT IS SO TASTY! Homemade corn tortillas and salsa verde, perfect! Best food truck in Culpeper! Everything else pales in comparison to their Torte Cubano. Basically two meals worth of food and every bite is delicious. I try and stop whenever I'm in that part of town. I'll admit I haven't tried anything else (though my wife has and she enjoyed it all)...its Cuban Torte for me everytime! read more

Saw the good ratings so we decided to try it while we were in Culpeper. The ratings were right. We ordered various sopas, which were tasty. They're very filling, though! I ordered 3, thinking they were small for to the price, but was only able to eat one, though I sampled the meats from all 3. The Al pastor was quite flavorful, which is usually a good test for authenticity of the restaurant. Carne asada and chorizo are pretty standard and these were good. We also had some fried plantains with queso and sour cream. Yum! We'll definitely give this place another try next time we're in Culpeper. read more

I, like many people is scared to try new restaurants. So after going through the reviews here I had my hopes held high but unsure. I ordered a carne asada torta and a pollo sopas. My husband also ordered a carne asada torta, and my cousin ordered 3 of their pupusas; cheese, pork and cheese and bean. The tortas come with seasoned battered fries which were pretty good. Tortas were delish!! Pupusas were also very filling, they definitely aren't stingy with portions. Nachos were okay. Probably wouldn't get them again. There is a little bit of a wait as your food is cooked to order. But they have a few nice picnic tables to eat or wait at. They also have a second food truck to order frescas or fruit cups. And they have Mexican Coca Cola in glass bottles and Jarritos. Parking is basically wherever you can find somewhere, it's mostly gravel. Definitely will be back to try the tacos and burritos. read more

Went here the first time because I was craving tacos and the cashier was really nice in letting me know what kind of food they have to offer. They make the food fresh on the spot so you will have to wait a few minutes. They have another station with delicious fruit cups. I really like the idea of the food truck since there aren't many in the area. Will be back to try more on the menu. read more
