It had everything decor wise that you would expect in a craft bar, wood finishes, chalkboards, etc. The beer on offer was great, they had about ten options from a mix of Brewers and about 8 from brewdog. Nobody spoke much English but we managed to communicate fine and got a cracking IPA that went down a treat after a long day of travelling. Food wise we had some lovely French sausage and bread. There is a seperate shop altogether for Champagne located directly opposite the main shop. It is definitely worth visiting Badie if you are wine shopping in Bordeaux, where you will be very well advised by some hardened old timers of the French wine industry.

Pricing was very reasonable, we met some German & Irish fellow travelers. A gem of a place and nice afternoon.

La Vinotheque, located in the city center of Bordeaux, should be a prime spot to purchase some of…read morethe best that Bordeaux's regions have to offer. Indeed, the selection is impressive, comprised of two separate rooms for red and white. Obviously, Bordeaux is more known for their Cabernet and Merlot, so I stuck to the red wine side. The bottles were well-labeled, and actually a bit pricier than I would have expected. I purchased 4 bottles, one from each main region, and was on my way. When it came time to open the bottles, I realized I'd been had. The first bottle, from Medoc, was utterly corked and undrinkable. The second, from Saint-Emilion, had a cork so dry that I could not pry it from the bottle. As expected, the flavor was off. In fact, every bottle I bought from there was dismal... not due to a lack of quality of the producer, but from an utter lack of care on the part of La Vinotheque to care for the bottles in a proper fashion. These people do the wine they sell a supreme disservice. I recommend that you avoid at all costs.

We love this store - at first it seems odd that you might want to buy wine from right in front of…read morethe Tourist Center, but their staff are super helpful and friendly, and their selection is superb. We order for direct shipment to our home in NJ, give them a price range (15-25 euros per bottle) and are always amazed at their selections - the wines are delicious, and even after paying steep shipping charges, are a good value (note I did not say the cheapest) and we are happy to pay a reasonable markup for good advice, which they provide unfailingly. If quality, selection advice and value are your criteria, they can't be beat. We're ordering 11 cases as I write this.
