I am hesitant to write reviews in English on some of the spots we discovered in Paris via French Yelp, but this store should not remain a secret. Paris definitely does not have a craft beer culture. This is a real shame because there are many wonderful beers produced in France. But you would be hard pressed to find 95% of them in bars in Paris, even bars known for having good beer. One of your only options is going to Cave a Bulles and buying individual bottles of French beer. If Simon is not busy, you can easily chat with him for an hour about beer. He will help you choose a good variety of beers to bring home, ones that you are probably not going to find in the US. His English is excellent. And If you really want to make a friend, bring him a rare beer from the US (or elsewhere). read more

If you want an amazing selection of beer and you are in Paris, this needs to be your first stop. Actually, considering Simon is so helpful and just a pleasure to deal with, this should be your only stop. I showed up 15-20 minutes before closing, and I wish I had gone in sooner. Simon loves what he does and it's evident. My 2 biggest regrets were not bringing him a bottle from back home and not having a checked bag to bring the loads of Cantillon (that I wish I had bought) back to where I was staying in Nice. Great store for craft beer. They have a ton of different bottles, lots of Belgians. I only bought two bottles since I had to walk a long way back. They also have about 5 different Cantillon beers, so if you're looking for those without going to Brussels, this is your stop. Staff here were very friendly and knowledgeable. Who says the French don't have good beers? I was a bit underwhelmed at first during our trip in Paris as there are no good beers to be found (at least at first). But if you look hard enough it seems there are a few good spots to buy or enjoy these good beers. Simon at La Cave a Bulles was very helpful and enthusiastic about his beer selection at his shop. We stopped in and picked up a few single bottles of various French IPA selections to try at home. We opened two tonight and both were really good. Looking forward to checking out the other spots we chatted about (la fine Mousse, le SuperCoin). And will be back to buy some other craft beer selections soon! read more

La Cave a Bulles is what I call a destination spot! Two weeks before my trip began, I had no clue about this place. Enter a friend who told me about it and he said that I should definitely hit them up. Well, since I wanted to drink Cantillon this trip, hitting them up was going to have to happen. The funny thing is, me getting Cantillon is what gave away me being American to the owner, haha! He smiled when he asked as he knew the answer. Yea, I know, I was kinda sorta one of those guys. But, I was also told that he had a lot of cool French craft beers and with me being a curious sort, I naturally had to ask him. He couldn't have been more helpful and it was fun talking to him when the phone wasn't ringing off the hook. You can sense his passion for beer and it comes through in a great way. While not everything was a major hit, he didn't lead me astray at all and I've been slowly enjoying the brews he recommended. Yes, I enjoyed the Cantillon too. But, it's been a lot of fun to discover that there is definitely some French craft beer out there and a good amount is worth drinking. If you even remotely consider yourself a beer fan, make sure you come here and give him the support he deserves. I always love to see people doing cool stuff like this and hopefully this is the tip of the iceberg for French craft beer. read more

Living in Paris has so many wonderful benefits, I feel a bit ungrateful to complain, but I really miss BEER. Yes, there's the English/Irish bars, but I didn't find the selection very exciting and the prices made me consider giving up beer altogether. Yes, there's beer at the supermarkets, but I'm used to the vast selection of small production craft beers (microbrews) available on the West Coast of the U.S. and 1664 just doesn't cut it. I was about to resign myself to a beer-less French life until I discovered La Cave à Bulles. BEER HEAVEN! Better yet - FRENCH BEER HEAVEN! There are shelves & shelves of fabulous French (and some Belgian) beers! Craft beers from small producers! Organic beer! Unfiltered beer! A few ciders from the North! Ales! Lambics! IPAs! There is also a VERY knowledgable and friendly proprietor who LOVES BEER! Just tell him what you like (go ahead, be vague and uneducated about beer - he'll help you) or what you're going to cook (he's got a superb talent for pairing beer with food) or when you're going to drink it (grey, rainy evening? hot, sunny day?) and he'll recommend the perfect beer. Or, if you're feeling self-sufficient (or adventurous) you can just pick a random beer on your own. Prices are reasonable enough to get a little crazy (about EUR5 for 50cl bottles). I've been a couple of times already and haven't been disappointed yet. The shop's motto is Vous allez aimer la bière. I already do, but now I LOVE FRENCH BEER! read more

Like every other American, I came here for Cantillon, and like every other American, I probably picked up a few more beers than I was planning on. Great selection of French craft beer. Owner was super friendly and wrapped the beer up so I could take it home, but *sorry!* I ended up drinking it there. The premier craft beer store in Paris is more like a craft beer embassy - spewing out the gospel of beer to those who attend nightly tastings and beer education from the beer czar, Simon. I pretty much just camped out at his store for two days and he let me try a bunch of beers for free, let me sit in on his craft beer educational round-table discussions he has every evening before closing. He even did a large, in-person trade with me for a bunch of special bottles. Simon gave us excellent food recommendations for Paris in general. Left with about 15 bottles and a large box from our trade. World-class. read more

Great selection, great location. Friendly staff. Sounds like they have a lot of cool events, but didn't have time to attend one. Price is just a little higher than some of the other places. They bubble wrapped everything though free of charge. Will go back. read more
